Long recording a breeze with this device. Easy to use and playback effortless

Records well and has a really nice button layout. Only complaint is it seems to have no way to just rewind a little. Instead you have to go all the way back to the beginning which is annoying for longer recordings

great quality recorder, it doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles but it does have the necessities. It is very crisp and clear, and the mics pick up the primary sound above dissonance.

I used this recorder to record several messages I wanted to save off of my voicemail. It recorded the voice messages very clearly and was easy to use.

I have been using this recorder regularly for a month now. This recorder was intended to record classroom lectures for future review. It sits on a desk/table near the front of a classroom that is probably 500 square feet. Voices within ten or fifteen feet are quite clear and typically easy to understand. Farther away begins to sound like you're listening to a speakerphone down the hallway. Not bad quality, just echoey. Clarity at this point really depends on the strength and direction of the speaker's voice. For this purpose, the recorder is very adequate. Recording from the back of a larger lecture hall has not been tested. Nor do I use it for dictation or interviews. Basic controls are simple. A good once over on the instruction booklet was enough to get me up and running in a few minutes. I was recording and playing back in no time. I did have to reference the manual for navigating the menu with any certainty. The device is limited. No file transfers. No memory card. No built in rechargeable battery. Speaker playback can be "noisey". Overall this is a very good, inexpensive recorder. Four GB can record a crap-ton of lectures. Adjusting setup and following Sony's tips has yielded fine results. Editing is basic but easy to accomplish. The only thing that makes this thing feel remotely cheap is that playback over headphones is a must for my application. No buyer's remorse here.

Bought for my grandfather as a toy for him to record his thoughts. Simple and easy to use. Not particularly robust.

I use this in theater for memorizing lines. It does decent job recording but there is no rewind feature to go back to a previous point. You can record things in sections and play them by blocks but when at the end of a section its a bit inconvenient to listen to the whole thing over again. I love it has a battery save mode so if I let it sit, it shuts itself down
