This lens is perfect for any wide-angle and astrophotography requirements that a Sony Alpha shooter may have. Much cheaper than the 24mm f1/4 GM lens (and lighter too), yet it is so sharp it's almost impossible to tell the difference (except for the $$$ you saved!). Recommended!

The first thing I’m going to mention is the size. To me, this is the perfect size making it not too big and bulky which is reliably compact for travel. The focal length is just right when it comes to street, architecture, and landscape photography. The maximum aperture of 1.8 will also make it great for astrophotographers as well, which I’m excited to use this lens for. The focusing reaction speed is surprisingly quick from one subject to another. In my opinion I feel like this lens would highly compete with the G-master series lenses, especially with the G-master 24mm 1.4 lens. So many other features could be mentioned however I’m still getting to know the lens and see what this lens has to fully offer. An amazing lens for an amazing price.

Best wide lens in my kit so far and i've had the 24mm gm, 35mm gm, equivolents from sigma and tamron, etc. If you mostly shoot wide, this is a MUST have lens for your kit. The only thing I would have loved to see on this was an improvement in AF tracking. It still hunts and sometimes lags spot focus but you don't notice it much. Also doesn't suffer from the crazy breathing of the 35mm gm. I had to return it because it drove me up the wall. Sony please fix that, your users are paying a premium for gm... that shouldn't even be a thing.

This thing is awesome! The Sony 20mm f/1.8 G delivers super sharp images with beautiful color and contrast. It’s lightweight, fast, and perfect for landscapes, vlogs, or astrophotography. The autofocus is quick and silent, and the wide aperture makes it great for low-light shots and smooth background separation. Easily one of the best compact wide-angle lenses for Sony shooters.

This lens has been a great addition to my kit. I use it more than any lens in my bag. The wide-angle and the sharpness are unbeatable. The speed of focus in video mode is really good.

Such a great wide-angle lens to have. Sharp even at its widest aperture, very little distortion that can often come with wide-angle lenses, great bokeh, very light, and surprisingly good for certain portraits. I would've happily paid $1600 for a lens like this.

This was a great lens,. I say was because after all the reviews and time I spent buying the lens, I retuned it. A 20mm, F1.8 was good but I don’t blog, so it was a waste of money. It’s not the lens fault, but the buyers. It was beautiful, light and I will repurchase it some time in the future. Traded it in for a G Master telephoto lens, the 16-35, f2.8, it includes this focal length and several others. It’s a monster piece of glass.

Sharp, clear lens with no noticeable vignetting. Used for video and some photography. It is also fairly light with auto/manual aperture.

Great lens. Distortion at the edges could become an issue, but that’s a common in wide-angle lenses. Lens is light, sharp and auto focus is fast. Definitely recommend!

This lens had definitely changed my life. Coming from the kit lens that comes with the A7iii my photos and videos are way more sharp and the boca at 1.8 is the nices I’ve ever seen on this camera. The lens is very light with a great build quality. Whether sealed and everything. I am told it had the same quality as the G series lenses & it shows. I’m gonna stick with this for a while as it fits my vlogging needs, as a wide, clean, & light lens.

this is my first prime lens for my Sony a7iii and it has been fantastic. quality is sharp and the build quality is excellent. has a nice heft to it feels good in the hand. the aperture ring is awesome I love its clickiness. AF is lightning fast so overall just a great lens. I was about to pull the trigger on the 24 but pretty happy I picked this one up. Great great for outdoors/landscapes/architecture. not so good for products/portraits as it does cause a little distortion.

Sharp, super wide and a flexible little lens. The weight and ease of use is great. However, I have notice a little bit of focus pulsing when try to auto focus (continuous AF) on darker/distant objects. Although, there has yet to be a firmware update, so I expect this will be improved soon.

I'm using A7R3 and A6400, this lens is VERY sharp even when wide open, CA is well controlled and I can barely see any purple or green fringing. When using on a6400 or Super 35 mode on A7R3, the focal length is about 30mm which is very close to the mobile phone so the people who just switched to Miroless camera will feel very comfortable. And the F2 aperture will give a real blurish background instead of the fake algorithm on the mobile device. A must-have lens for Sony mirrorless camera.

Small, lightweight, easy to use and very sharp. Well worth the money.

This is a surprisingly useful lens! It’s fairly compact and light considering what it’s “got under the hood”. Fast F1.8 aperture, quite sharp and contrasty even wide open. Build quality is also good- but you’d expect that as this isn’t a “cheap” lens, still a lot cheaper than Sony’s top of the line G Master lenses but performs as well as my 24mm F1.4 G master- just a little wider and 3/5ths the price!

Fantastic lenses being used on an A7 IV. Solid build quality, as expected from the Standard Sony lense. LOVE the extremely fast auto focus and obviously the focus breathing compensation works with the A7 IV and this lense so it’s amazing for video. I absolutely needed this wide angle. Perfect for vlog style selfies and getting everyone in a shot.

It’s lite weight extremely easy to use and takes Incredible pictures.

You need to be careful when using this lens, since it can easily distort your image if phot is taken at a angle. Has awesome light gathering capabilities and is great for nighttime photography outdoors using a flash. Isn't as light weight as I thought, but this is a very high quality lens.
