I have used this computer for a couple of weeks now. It came with Windows 8 and I immediately upgraded to Windows 8.1. I still feel that past Window's OS are superior to 8 or 8.1, but the computer does what it is supposed to do. I also purchased a digital pen which is great to use on some of the Sony art softwares that are pre-installed. All and all, a good computer that I got at a discounted price.

I mainly use this computer for social and bill pay reasons. I have enjoyed watching movies on it since it is larger than my kindle! The most difficult thing for me was figuring out windows 8 and how to move around. I had to read the manual to figure out how to shut it down. That was a first. Overall I really like it!

i realize i put the highest marks possible but im not someone that works for best buy or vaio(i think vaio doesnt exist anymore of somthing), but im a incoming college freshman. I needed a laptop and i wanted a 2-in-1 and ive always like the metal and thinness of vaios. brand new this thing is too much money for me, but the refurbished one for 500 is perfect inside and out, no problems! the screen folds down flat on top of the keyboard which is beautiful instead of the new dumb laptops where it folds onto the bottom. smooth, supports steam, dota, and garrys mod!!! only bad thing is the armour shield or whatever it is that a bought separate isnt a great fit, but thats the screen protectors fault although it does fit decently. i guess speakers could be a little better. backlight keys are awesome! touch is good!

This laptop does have issues w/touchpad sensitivity, however, this does improve when you download the appropriate drivers. It does have additional touchpad options which seem to complicate use of the internet/programs at times, however, one can get use to them.

NEVER EVER buy a refurbished laptop. It was once someone else's problem... now it will be your problem if you buy one. Spend the extra money for a new one. Save yourself the frustration and hassle! !

This laptop isn't the greatest for any hefty applications, but it isn't designed for that. It works great with Netflix or any other video streaming, which comes out in crystal clear HD. The 3 different modes are also very convenient and comfortable.

The laptop is working great; however, the network drivers installed from the factory are very slow. After updating to the newest drivers, network performance improved. Upgrading to Windows 8.1 help the overall speed of the computer.

Bought this laptop as refurbished with hope to replace HDD with SDD and 4Gb RAM to 8Gb RAM. But faced with problem: very strange mouse pointer behavior - during move it by touchpad or mouse it become crazy and jumped and clicked in random areas of screen. With screen touch situation become better but laptop in general left impres as very low performance. In addition want to add that it was scary to use keyborad since its looks like very tiny and sag by fingers(comparing to my current laptop Lenovo T430i).

We were very excited to purchase this laptop. However, after only a short time, my daughter began having issues with the touch screen. We ended up having to return it.

People, you need to install ALL of the updates for this to work. Not only the Windows but also the Sony VAIO updates. Once you do that you unleash the beast within this machine. I bought the stylus to go with the laptop, aftermarket, and it works great (that is the main reason I bought it). The convertible feature is nice but I don't use it a lot. Screen is amazing HD. If you can get it at the great price I bought it, you absolutely can't go wrong.

The flip concept is nice and it keeps the weight evenly balanced. The chassis is stylish and strong. The screen brightness is dim though and performance is just about alright. Comes with tons of bloatware. The VAIO update utility to keep drivers up to date seems convenient. The biggest issue is the WiFi signal and performance is unacceptably poor.

even though the display and the speakers are gr8, this laptop is not a very good one for anybody. i write that because for $800.00 or $900.00, u can really get a top of the line la[top and this one just has way too many flaws.

Wanted to buy this computer when they first came out, but decided to wait because of the price. Knowing that Sony doesn't make laptops anymore I feel like I got one of the last great ones. I used my phone for everything, but now I can use this laptop to do it all. I typically leave the computer in the tablet mode while in bed with my knees bent or my legs flat. Having the keyboard keys face up instead of on my lap puts this convertible well above the rest. I've used a laptop like that before and they suck. When it's in regular laptop mode the lighted keys really are all the hype, especially in low light environments. The viewer mode is nice when I'm sitting on the couch or reading a recipe working in the kitchen. The computer, I think, makes Windows 8 much more appealing since I don't have to reach over the keyboard to make use of the touchscreen. Overall this to me is a great bargain computer. The specs are comparable to similarly priced computers (more than enough for what 90% of us do anyway: surf the web, email, social media, Microsoft Office stuff, etc). As far buying this GeekSquad refurbished, the only difference I noticed was the packaging. The computer looks and feels brand new. Don't be afraid if buying refurbished. This computer was a great but at a great price that I'm glad I waited for.

Hdd failed on day 3

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The system failed to update to 8.1 seven times and in the process ghosted the bios 'VAIO' into the screen, and then the HDD crashed on day 3 and is not readable by even ubuntu to try and recover anything. Lucky I am a student and was able to get 8.1 pro from my school to install in it other wise you have to contact Sony and fork up $55 for a recovery disk. Another lucky thing was that I ordered an SSD the same day as this device so I was able to swap it out and install stock windows no problem as soon as the hdd crashed.
Over all I am very disappointed with what ever Geek Squad loaded on it in the first place as well as the live span of the HDD and the horribly slow wifi card.
For $460 don't expect to be getting a reliable computer. I will be keeping it because the bones are good enough and I intended to upgrade the ram, hdd, and nic (once I found out it was 2.4 only.)
I was hoping to use the 500gb hdd as an external drive for my 3.0 enclosure. oh well I guess.
No dead pixels though, I always seem to pick devices with dead pixels.
