Soundbar is not of high quality. Way overpriced, even on sale. Customer service is even worse. Done with BestBuy, other places to buy electronics. I was a good customer, but POOR customer service always wins over good stuff for me.

They said it was in fair condition but this unit needs its own power supply. The power supply did not come with it or remote so returned as I couldn't get it to even turn on.
Best buy needs to say what is missing.

This soundbar quit working right after the 30 days I had to return it . Very disappointed. I have always purchased Sony products because I never had a problem in the past . Specifically went in to purchase a Sony Soundbar . NO help from Best Buy or Sony ! Wasted money . Very disappointed that this early on , no one offered help or an exchange. I’ll buy a different brand from somewhere else next time .

The staff who had handled the situation starting from the seller up to the customer service was impeccable.
The one who blew up and makes the experience worse were the shipper whom Best Buy had entrusted the shipment was horrible. AI customer service were you cannot even speak with live person and the fact was that the shipment was lost for the past 3 weeks. Never ever trust “On-Trac” shipping company.
Result: Poor customer service and shipment lost.

This soundbar has performed very well for me and I have been very happy with not only its performance but also the ability to completely customize the experience for your home and really calibrate it to your exact needs. I've had a chance to use this with movies, tv shows, and the news. Where it really shines and where I really noticed a big difference is when watching action sequences throughout movies. I noticed that if you are really interested in achieving the best possible experience and sound, then you will want to add the subwoofer to this soundbar. But if you just want to upgrade those speakers that come on your tv, this is perfect and will exceed your expectations. I do like that this has the ability to add on additional equipment as you want to or as our budget allows, I just wish the price point was a tad lower since you're not getting the full experience without that addition of a subwoofer, etc. Setting up and connecting using the eARC and the Sony app made setup truly simple and seamless. it was literally up and running in just a few minutes.

Hi Magic,
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We're very sorry to hear you're disappointed with the sound quality of your new HT-S2000 soundbar. We want to help you get the best possible sound experience, especially since you purchased it to complement your new Sony TV.
It's highly unusual for the sound quality to be described as "horrible," and this could indicate a simple setting issue or a problem with the setup. Please consider the following troubleshooting steps:
1) Check all connections: Ensure the HDMI cable is firmly and correctly inserted into the HDMI eARC/ARC port on both the soundbar and your TV. An improper connection can affect sound quality and even cause sound to drop out.
2) Check Sound Settings on your TV: Go into your TV's audio settings and make sure the "Digital Audio Out" format is set to "PCM" and that the output is set to your "Audio System" instead of the TV speakers.
3) Adjust settings on the Soundbar: Use the included remote or the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app on your smartphone to make sure the sound is optimized for your room.
If you have tried these steps and the issue persists, please contact our product support team. They can provide more personalized assistance and help you determine if there is a more significant issue with the unit.
We appreciate the opportunity to enhance your experience!
Thanks for choosing Sony!
Sincerely, Jenn | Sony North America.

Premium Sound, but Lacking Features

Soundbars are probably my favorite way of getting quality audio from my TVs without complex wiring setups. I tend to be picky with my audio setups - I'm not an audiophile, but I know the difference between having a clear sound stage and having a muddy mess for my audio output. That being said, I can say with certainty that Sony has done a wonderful job of putting premium sound into this 3.1 channel soundbar. It's truly impressive and shows how much sound bars have improved over the years.
Before getting further into this review - If you buy the HT-S2000, Please make sure that you download Sony's Home Entertainment Connect app on your smartphone. There are additional settings in the app that you will not find on your remote, and you'll want the ability to fine tune your audio!
I've been using a competitor's solution for about 4 years - a 2.1 channel soundbar with a wireless subwoofer. And, since I own a Sony Bravia XR 4K TV, I was curious to test how well it integrates with the TV. I've never had a complaint about my old soundbar's clarity or bass levels, but it doesn't support some of the newer audio codecs found in today's media (such as Dolby Atmos or DTX audio). So with these things in mind, I moved onto the HT-S2000, and I have to say... I am pleasantly surprised by how well the HT-S2000 performed. Not only did I not need the soundbar remote due to its direct integration with Sony's Bravia quick settings menu, but the sound was superb. I was watching the cinematic finale of Star Trek Picard, and I was blown away by how well the bass performs! Even without purchasing the optional subwoofer or rear speakers, the sound is crisp, clear, natural, and even booming at higher volume levels. I didn't expect such bass from such a small and size-constrained soundbar, so it was a big surprise for me. If you have the opportunity, I urge you to test out Sony's new soundbars at your local Best Buy to experience what I'm talking about here.
A few notes that I want to share about soundbar settings - If you enjoy bass like I do, you'll likely want to change your bass setting to "MAX". You can choose between MIN, MID, and MAX - MIN is pretty much no bass, MID is slightly timid bass, and MAX brings the sound. Whenever you have the opportunity, definitely enable the Sound Field feature. Sony's "S-FORCE PRO Front Surround" feature is actually amazing. It takes your sound stage from standard stereo to a fully featured surround sound experience and it sounds wonderful. Sony's audio mixing reputation really shines in this feature. Also, if you're like me and constantly have different sound needs based on what you're watching or your environment, you'll love these 2 features - Voice mode and Night mode. Voice mode ups the output of vocal frequencies for those "Why are they whispering??" moments we've all experienced in movies and TV. Then there's the Night mode - In my opinion, this dulls the dynamic sound stage features of the soundbar to give a more "10pm appropriate" audio experience. I won't use that feature all the time, but it's there when you need it. Finally, in the Sony Home Entertainment Connect app, you can enable "DSEE", which enhances sound quality by restoring high-range sound. There's also an "Automatically adjust volume" setting for those movies that go dynamically change from explosion scenes to whisper quiet conversations.
So, with all of that said, why am I giving this 4 stars? Well - In 2023, I think most people would prefer to have a soundbar that also connects to your wifi network and gives you additional smart features. When you're paying a premium for premium sound, I'd think most folks want the ability for anyone in the house to open their favorite music streaming app, select the soundbar from their smart devices, and enjoy some music or a nice podcast. That just isn't possible with Bluetooth-only wireless connectivity, and I think the HT-S2000 deserved wifi connectivity.

The Sony Soundbar S2000 is not my first experience with Sony home theater equipment. I also own the Sony HT-A1 system with the SA-SW5 subwoofer. That system has been a truly great experience for me for surround sound and music. So I was excited to get my hands on the S2000. The soundbar is small in size, so I didn't know what to expect. Looking at the exterior, I noticed that the controls on it are touch sensitive, not buttons, and that there are three banks of speakers behind the grill, which I appreciate being that Sony calls this a 3.1 system. That's a dedicated center channel as opposed to two side channels simulating a center channel. Great. I also noticed to air ports on the ends, which to me meant that the soundbar would attempt to deliver on the low frequencies on its own without a dedicated sub. Cool. I also read in the instructions that you can add Sony's surround speakers and one of its subs to this system to make it a true 5.1 system. Flexibility is a good thing. The remote it comes with is small but has all the function I need. I plugged in the soundbar and it asked me to download the dedicated app to my mobile phone. I proceeded to do that and it helped me set it up. Very easy and straightforward. This is where you can update the software, adjust bass and treble, turn on Sony's proprietary sound functions for different effects, and register the soundbar. I proceeded to run it through various sources. Immediately I noticed a very respectable low frequency output. It actually has bass! It's not a sub, but it's pretty amazing how much low end this soundbar has. I also noticed with movie and streaming that the center channel is very effective in separating dialog from sound effects and music. The quality I have with the HT-A1 is definitely here. Not all encompassing but impressive. Then I tried a music source. I played music from Apple Music through my Apple TV and to the soundbar by eARC. The music showed in the app that it was streaming at 48kHz, which to me was as high as I can make it. I was blown away with the music reproduction. The fidelity was really great, the stereo channels had plenty of separation, I had no problem making out various instruments and voices were crisp but not overly so. I really enjoyed this soundbar with music. Way more than with movies actually. Overall, I would consider this soundbar to be a great do-it-all, particularly for small spaces, and would even do a great job as a "stereo" on a shelf somewhere. It has bluetooth also so you are able to stream directly from a device as well. I would recommend this soundbar to anyone looking for either a small home theater or a music player.
