Best Buy had this in stock when mine went out. There was not much to choose from that was in stock. It works ok. Sound quality is ok!
Hi Lovesonytv, Thank you for being so honest about your experience with the HT-S400. We really appreciate the feedback.
We're genuinely sorry to hear that the sound quality didn't feel worth the price for you. We know how important it is to feel like you’re getting great value, especially with home audio. While we’re glad you know we have other high-end options, we want every one of our products to feel like a good investment.
We’ll definitely share your thoughts with our product team.
Thanks again for your time and for sticking with Sony. Sincerely, Estefany

Great sound system, this is my 3rd purchase. I love it. Sounds really good and easy to connect and control

Sounds great. Movies sound awesome but even with the dialogue enhanced, sometimes dialogue can still be difficult to hear and then booms and crashes are way too loud compared to the dialogue. Overall I would buy it again though. Plus it easily connects via Bluetooth to a Sony Bravia TV. If you switch between TV speakers and the sound bar, it is an easy transition by simply turning the speaker bar on or off.

Good quality! Clear sound! Nice features I.e the night feature. Press the night button & it automatically cuts the volume & bass to a decent level, so you don’t disturb anyone that’s trying to sleep! Cons: when you pause it then press play, there’s a delay with the sound. Sometimes the bass sounds a lil off, where you hear this heavy thud of bass drop in the background.

I was looking to add a little better sound to a TV in a bedroom. The factory speakers were not bad, but aimed towards the back, so a little muffled.
Having experience with other basic surround sound systems in the past, the specs on this one seemed perfect, and the wireless sub was a bonus.
Setup was standard, but it was obvious they were looking for impact, as the bar and subwoofer are well oversized for their power.
The sound is the disappointing part. It is basically two tweeters in the bar, and one subwoofer. Sound adjustment is poor as well, as volume controls the bar, and a separate +/- 10 option is available to proportionally control the sub.
Sound from the bar produces too much treble, and the power seems not much better than the standard TV speakers. The sub is overly powerful, and booms excessively even when setting it in the negative range. Even trying various combinations of the "surround field" and "voice" features, I have yet to find a combination that blends together for a decent midrange.
I have not yet, but seriously considering just going back to the standard TV speakers.

This was purchased for my bedroom. It's not a Dolby Atmos bar but I didn't need that for my bedroom. It does the job well and I don't have any complaints.
