    Still have problems with the sony sound system goes on and off the volume technician came twice but nothing is working properly I have to call again the geek squad to resolve this problem

    Poor sound quality and not very adjustable. The sound bar sounded very dull and had no way to adjust the bass, mid and treble separately. I ended up returning this and going with a JBL SB 550

    I do not like these items. The sound is so low, I have to turn the volume up very high to hear it. Thinking about disconnecting it.

      Thank you for sharing your feedback about the HT-S400. We're sorry to hear the sound isn’t as loud as you expected. Let’s try a few simple steps to help improve the volume:

      1. Make sure the soundbar and TV volume are both turned up. Sometimes the TV volume can affect the soundbar.

      2. Check that the soundbar is set to the right input and that the cables are connected tightly.

      3. Try changing the sound mode on the soundbar remote (like “Voice” or “Sound Field”) to see if it makes a difference.

      4. If you’re using Bluetooth, make sure your device’s volume is also turned up.

      5. Ensure your HT-S400 is running the latest firmware. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/sound-bars-home-theater-systems-sound-bars-surround-speakers/ht-s400/software/00278020

      6. Try resetting the soundbar. Press and hold the power button and the volume down (–) button on the bar speaker for more than 5 seconds. When [RESET] appears on the front panel display, the settings will return to their original state. Then, disconnect the AC power cord, reconnect it and press the power button to turn the speaker system back on.

    Subwoofer started sounding distorted and wasn’t working very well after a month of purchase. I would not recommend this. I may have purchased a device that was defective but honestly you can find better.

      We sincerely apologize that you're experiencing issues with the subwoofer on your HT-S400 soundbar. That's definitely not the quality experience we want you to have, and we're here to help get it resolved.

      To help fix this, please try the following:

      1. Check your firmware version:

      Make sure your soundbar is updated to Version 1.188. You can check and download it here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/sound-bars-home-theater-systems-sound-bars-surround-speakers/ht-s400/software/00278020

      2. Reset and re-link your subwoofer:

      Hold the power and volume (–) buttons on the soundbar for 5+ seconds until you see “[RESET]” on the display. Then unplug and plug back in the power cord.

      After that, manually re-link the subwoofer by following the steps in the manual here:

    Disappointed in sound!

    Was excited to get this sound bar, however I am disappointed in the sound! We have the volume up to 54 and the sound is still low! Thinking about returning it! It was easy to set-up!

      We’re sorry to hear your soundbar is making an unusual noise. This is often caused by wireless interference or a minor sync error; please try moving the subwoofer closer to the soundbar and ensure there are no wireless routers nearby. We also recommend performing a factory reset by holding the Power and Volume Down buttons on the bar for five seconds until "RESET" appears, then unplugging the unit for a minute to clear any software glitches.

    Cant get the sound i want

    A little disappointed that I’m having trouble getting the sony sound bar to work the way i want with a sony tv. Connected using the HDMI cable, the sound is low and i have to increase volume up to 50 to get a comfortable level. Then tried Bluetooth but if I remember correctly you had to use the sound bar volume control . Not happy with the sony partnership of these two products. I usually buy Samsung products.

    Had to use optical because i didnt want to give up my eArc port which is also my hdmi 2.1 port. Witeless with Bravia TV isnt in sync with the tv. Also this bar is limited on its audio codecs.

    Performance commensurate with the sale price, but not worth full SRP + Strong bass. + Minimal (though discernible) dialog sync issues - No voice sync adjustment - Lacks treble and any control to adjust treble. - No volume leveling while maintaining standard equalization. Night mode also applies special equalization (reduced bass) - Can't turn LED display - distracting. I'll look for another sound bar and would not recommend this one to others. -

    Honestly very disappointed with this purchase after using this sound bar for 2 years. The sound quality is ok, but I am mostly annoyed by the functionality of this soundbar. Sometimes it turns on automatically with my Sony TV and sometimes it doesn’t. It often goes to max volume for no reason. Will definitely be switching this out this year, can’t take it anymore.

    For the price it performs very well. There is some distortion at higher volume levels but it depends on the channel, movie, or show.

    I would recommend this to a friend
