To ensure that you are getting the most out of your HT-A3000, make sure to run Sound Field Optimization so that the soundbar can calibrate its performance to your environment, and that it sounds like it was engineered to be in your room. Hi Qski, Thank you for choosing Sony! We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your HTA3000. There are a couple of built-in adjustments and practical workarounds you can try to tame that bass and bring the dialogue forward.
First, the HT-A3000 has a subwoofer level adjustment for its built-in dual subwoofers. You can lower the bass output using the remote—look for the "Subwoofer" or "Bass" key (it might be labeled "SW"). It typically toggles between settings like Max, Mid, and Min. Dropping it from the default (often Max) to Mid or even Min should reduce the boominess that’s drowning out the voices. Play a dialogue-heavy scene and tweak it until the clarity improves.
There’s also a "Voice" mode designed to boost the midrange where dialogue sits. You can activate it with the "Voice" button on the remote or through the Sony Music Center app if you’ve got it set up. It’s not a perfect fix, but it can help lift the dialogue over the bass. Test it during a movie or show to see if it cuts through the muddiness.
If those don’t fully solve it, the bass-heavy sound might be getting amplified by your room setup. If the soundbar’s close to a wall or in a corner, that can exaggerate low frequencies. Try pulling it a few inches away from any surfaces or elevating it slightly—like on a small stand or shelf—to reduce reflections. Even small changes here can make a difference.

Depending on the combination of the setting of SOUND FIELD and input signal, surround sound processing may not work effectively. The surround effect may be subtle, depending on the program or disc.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear some issues that you are experiencing with your soundbar when connected to your Sony TV. A time gap between the sound and picture may occur depending on the sound source. If you already set the adjustment value of the delay between the picture and sound to 0 msec but still experiencing sync issues, your TV has a function that delays the image, use it for adjustment. You can make the Dialogs Clearer (VOICE). Press the VOICE to select the setting.
The setting appears in the front panel display.

[Vo.ON]: Dialog is easily heard by enhancing dialog range.
[Vo.OFF]: Deactivates the voice mode function.

Note: When the BLUETOOTH device is connected in BLUETOOTH transmission mode, the voice mode is disabled.
