Ps portal review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal is a sleek $199 handheld designed for streaming your PS5 games over Wi-Fi. It features a crisp 8” 1080p LCD screen and full DualSense controls—including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback—built right into the device. While it doesn’t run games locally and requires a PS5 and stable internet, it delivers smooth, low-latency remote play with excellent image quality. Battery life is around 4–5 hours, and while it lacks Bluetooth audio, it supports wired headphones and Sony’s PS Link. If you want to keep gaming when someone else is using the TV, the Portal is a convenient, well-made companion.

Thrives in certain scenarios, but can’t do it all
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS Portal is, by a lot of definitions, a solid device. It’s essentially built like a dualsense with a tablet sandwiched in between the sides and is largely comfortable to use. The big notice with this thing is that Sony’s protocol for connecting to your PS5 is…imperfect to say the least. Bottom line, I find this thing works great for stuff like sports games, card games, some indie games, or other types of games that don’t super heavily rely on precision timing. The input delay introduced through remote play is passable, but I wouldn’t dare use it to play any FPS or even some more difficult platformers. All in all, it has its uses, and if your use case aligns with the mentioned scenarios above, I’d recommend it.

Worth it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this on the wishlist for awhile. After watching plenty of reviews and having a $100 gift card, I decided to buy this. It is easy to set up. Connect WiFi and make sure your PS5 has remote play enabled. It can also play physical games as long as the disc is inside the PS5. It is a great alternative when you want to play PS5 games in handheld mode. Especially when the TV is being used by someone else. Definitely worth the purchase!

A Smooth, Convenient Way to Extend PS5 Gaming
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal Remote Player has been a surprisingly great addition to my PS5 setup. It’s designed for one purpose—remote play—and it delivers that experience with impressive consistency. The 8‑inch screen is bright, sharp, and responsive, making games look far better than I expected from a dedicated remote‑play device. Colors are vibrant, motion is smooth, and the overall image quality feels premium.

The portal is great!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The portal is amazing. Siging in was a breeze. Starting up the portal is visually beautiful, easy and fast. The selection of games for streaming is great and even just playing my own games from anywhere is awesome. The feel of it in your hands is really nice as well, it’s smooth and sleek. The charging port is in a good spot where it doesn’t feel like you’re going to bend the cord to charge it. Overall, one of my favorite purchases. 5 out of 5.

PSP is Great as was Beat Buy Service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great performance and excellent service at Best Buy. As soon as I walked in someone asked if I needed assistance and proceeded to get my online order for me to check out. Ordered some online and picked up same day. Wonderful experience! Product feels solid in my hands and buttons all work great as does the touch screen even with a call screen protector applied. Charging port is difficult to access but that is a very minor issue. Wish battery life was longer but with max brightness and volume I guess that is to be expected a bit (3-4 hrs playtime est.)

Okay for the value and feats t
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love this profuct! We purchased 2. One for each of us. There is an ability to play via remote play or via streaming the game from the servers. I highly recommend especially if you have a gaming family. My daughter is able to play on my playstation while I play on my portal. I understand some people may have difficulties understanding the technicalities of using the device as you MUST have playstation plus the highest tier to use the streaming part of the device. So you do need a subscription for use of the ps portal. There is hardly any storage on the device which could also be detrimental as well. For the price point I will say it is fair for what it is. Its hard to say there are competitors as this isnt meant to be a stream all device or like other devices. The fps are not very good but its to be expected.

Fantastic Remote Play Device Lightweight and Comfy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PlayStation Portal Remote Player has been fantastic for remote play. It makes streaming games from my PS5 incredibly smooth and responsive — the 1080p display is crisp, the controls feel great in hand, and the ergonomics are comfortable for long sessions. Setup was quick and easy, and I love being able to pick up my PS5 games anywhere in the house without interrupting someone else’s TV time. The device stays responsive over Wi-Fi and handles fast action games with very little latency. Battery life has been solid for extended play sessions, and overall it feels like a well-designed companion to the PS5. Highly recommend it if you want a dedicated remote play experience without lugging around a full console or laptop.

Sony does it again!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for gaming on the go! Great handheld, works at its best if your console at home is hardwired but will certainly stream clear with a strong Wi-Fi connection. Perfect for when I’m on the road traveling for work.

Like the idea
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PS Portal is okay. Most people don't talk about the fact that the joysticks themselves are smaller than the actual PS5 dual sense controller,so it makes it harder to play fps games. Like the build quality and the idea behind the portal but between the bad connection for hotspot AT&T 5G Turbo with full bars and the smaller joysticks I ended up returning it. Also my PS5 pro is hooked up to Ethernet on the 6ghz WiFi 6e band. At home it worked fine, but I wanted something while I'm away so now I just use remote play on my laptop with a spare controller and have a much better experience.

Surprisingly Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS portal surprised me with how much I actually use it. It's perfect for when the TV is in use and it connects fairly easily so I can play even if I can't use the TV I have it hooked up to. It does occasionally struggle to connect due to you have to be fully signed into the console first but most of the time it only takes two or three tries to get it to connect.

Hardware Triumph, Connectivity Flop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hardware and Ergonomics: A Flawless Design Where the Portal excels is in its physical design. The device is essentially a DualSense controller split in half, cradling a large, beautiful 8-inch LCD screen. This approach provides an immediate and immense advantage over using a smartphone or tablet for Remote Play: it delivers the full, uncompromised DualSense experience, complete with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The build quality is excellent, feeling sturdy and premium in the hands, and the familiar controller shape makes for an incredibly comfortable and ergonomic long-session gaming experience. Furthermore, the screen is bright, vibrant, and displays HD content cleanly. When the connection is stable, games look great on this display, and the seamless integration of PS5 controls makes it feel like a true first-party handheld. Connectivity and Performance: The Major Shortfall Unfortunately, the Portal is hampered by the very thing it was designed to do: stream games over a network. My testing revealed significant issues, both locally and remotely. Attempting to play outside of the home using a 5G mobile hotspot resulted in a horrible experience. The connection quality was consistently poor, characterized by pixelation, stuttering, and input lag that made the device effectively unplayable for any title requiring quick reactions. Even at home, where my PS5 was connected via a LAN cable to a high-speed router, and the Portal was on the same optimal Wi-Fi network, the performance still underwhelmed. While the resolution issues could sometimes be overlooked, the unbearable input lag made competitive games, especially FPS titles, frustrating. This fundamental lag undermines the excellent hardware, turning fast-paced gameplay into a sluggish, unresponsive chore. The final drawback lies in its use case for a dedicated desk setup. Since the PS5 is already right next to the PC, there is no compelling reason to grab the Portal over simply sitting down and playing on the console natively. Moreover, the Portal's dependence on mirroring the PS5 means that games owned physically must still be loaded and mirrored, offering no true convenience over local play for those who are already nearby. Verdict The PlayStation Portal is a great piece of kit for the right audience, delivering the best portable control experience available for PS5 games. However, its complete reliance on Remote Play, coupled with the persistent, noticeable input lag—even on ideal home networks—prevents it from being a must-buy. It’s a niche device that sacrifices performance for portability, which is why it receives 3 out of 5 stars. 3/5 Stars A beautifully designed device marred by the limitations of streaming.

PS Portal a gem.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PS portal is a necessary accessory for the PlayStation ecosystem. It’s really good for when you don’t want to have your TV on, but you want to play your titles. I love the high-definition screen and the features it provides. For example, it has the same rumble feature and most of the features of the PlayStation game controller. If you’d like the convenience of playing your games remotely as long as you have a robust Wi-Fi, I highly recommend this device as a great addition to your PlayStation 5.

Pretty dang great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little hesitant to buy this as it's wifi only and wasn't sure how much I would use it, but as it turns out I use it all the time. When the family is watching something that doesn't interest me I grab the portal and am all set. If I'm travelling I can connect it to my hotspot and stream games without issue. There are the occasional hiccups, but mostly it works like a champ. I love the ergonomics and the screen. Having dual sense is also rather awesome. Highly recommend this.

I Can Finally Play My Games!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been a game changer. With the update that allows you stream any game in your library this is a great value. Yes, it does require the most expensive subscription but for me it’s still worth it. On Christmas Day I was told I would need to wait 60 mins to stream a game; I assume the servers were crowded because a lot of new owners were using their portals. I never had this issue before Christmas but something to be aware of. I even played Destiny with few connection issues. I did have some weird setup issues and the device took some getting used to. Nothing good old Reddit couldn’t handle.

Ps portal review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive had my portal for over 3 months already and i most say i love it. I really like the convenience of chilling in the living room with my family and while they’re watching a movie im keeping up with my games. One thing i would recommend is buying a airfly pro 2 aux bluetooth adapter and just use your ear buds im using my airpods pro2 cuz being able to turn of and on the noise canceling is awesome. Also i would definitely recommend to connect your ps5 via Ethernet for a wayyy more stable connection. Also all your saved data on console back it up in the cloud cuz its usable on games that you can stream. The issues that i have came up with is easily fixable sometimes when i try to remote play on different ps5 it wont connect all you have to do is press and hold the power on the portal till you see restart and that fixes the problem right away. The other is that when im watching something (crunchyroll) on either one of my ps5’s and then try to play a game on the portal it will give a error. All you have to do to fix that is close out any opened video apps before you remote play a game. Other than that its pretty freaking awesome would recommend
