As a user of the Sony PlayStation Portal, I've found it to be a specialized device primarily for Remote Play with the PS5. The controller customization is somewhat limited, but the haptic feedback adjustments are useful, especially when playing more intense games. The Touchpad, integrated into the touchscreen, requires a double-tap for input, which takes some getting used to.
The software is straightforward, focusing on essential settings like haptic feedback strength and brightness. Its processing power is intentionally limited, aligning with its primary purpose of Remote Play. In terms of Remote Play performance, I noticed a slight delay when playing on the same internet connection as my PS5, but it's manageable. However, using a mobile hotspot while away from home introduces a noticeable half-second input lag.
Overall, while the PlayStation Portal is efficient for its intended use, it feels like it has a narrow audience, specifically catering to those heavily invested in PS5 Remote Play.

This works great for some. It didn't really fit what I was hoping to get from it, but it worked fine, display was nice, no issues with it after 9 months of owning it. Best if your console is hardwired. If not, there will be some input lag esp on FPS.

The portal is a great product for playing your PS5 on the go. I petsit a lot and sometimes you just need some sort of entertainment, so I got this to keep me busy when I'm bored at other people's houses. It's so much better than trying to use your phone for remote play. 10/10 recommend.

Purchased open box for $140. And for that price a great supplement to the PS5. Remote play and cloud streaming requires a solid internet connection, and can be spotty if you dont have full signal, even with 2Gbps Fiber, so make sure you are close to your router. But for a gamer dad, this device allows me to play games casually more than ever. Just dont expect to reliably play multiplayer games due to latency. However, ive been playing Arc Raiders through cloud streaming to do low risk loot raids when my familiy’s using the TV and its been a blast.

Probably one of my favorite pieces of tech. Being able to play when I travel or somebody else’s occupying that TV I can still play my game and not watch love is blind. Definitely with all the updates that they continuously push.

This beautiful device is stunning. I'm not an online multiplayer gamer. I love playing games with a story. I love putting in a lot of hours on the games story. I have not tested it with online gaming like COD or Fortnite. But if you're trying to beat any game and have people using the tv you usually have to use. It's 100% awesome. I just got all three spider games to grind. IT LOOKS AMAZING. I've put in almost 6 hours of Spiderman Remasterd and had a millisecond of lag one time. It's not it's own system. It's made for people who can't play when their loved ones are using that tv/monitor that connects to their PS5. If you're like me and just play for fun..DO IT..If you want a system that's as fast as a PC...This device wasn't made for that. Mad love to sony for this.

When it works it is the best accessory to the PS5! Depending on your internet setup, it may not always be able to connect to your PS5 in every room. But for me, I have the PS5 hooked up to a Ethernet in one room. And then I play in another near my router and 90% of the time I have no issues and love being able to play my Playstation games in front of the TV.

I've greatly enjoyed my PS Portal. It's been convenient to be able to play my PS5 games around the house and not have to always be in front of the TV.
My kids like to take the Portal with them to their grandparents' house, and it's worked perfectly for remote gaming there. We've used it a few times remotely with my phone's wifi hotspot, and it's hit or miss if it works. Sometimes it works perfect with the phone connection, but sometimes not at all. It depends how good your phone connection is.
The screen quality is fantastic and all the buttons feel top quality. I am a little disappointed that you can't connect Bluetooth headphones to it, although the Sony Pulse Elites work great with the Portal. I can't wait to see what features get added with future software updates.
I feel like the Portal is at the right price for the high quality and I would recommend it.

Every ps5 game I buy, I can play it away from my setup. I have my ps5 in my room. To hang out in the living room with my pets and family I use this thing. It’s great to get a few minutes of gaming when I want to. Plus JRPGs run great on this thing.

I was skeptical on how well this would work but ended up loving it. Great quality, easy to use and game plays great from another room in my house (haven't tried it from a different location)

I have a PS5 with disk drive so if i want to play a different game i have downloaded, i have to physically switch the disks in the console itself which defeats the purpose if im going to be away from the console or don’t want to switch it out every time. Curious to know who this would work with a digital ps5 as opposed to the physical disk console. Next issue I’ve ran into is a little bit of lagging. As it’s trying to mirror the console, it can lag a bit and depending on the game being played could cause issues. For what I do it’s minimal and can play through it. Overall it’s pretty cool and the screen size is big for handheld console. This has it’s time and place but would prefer to play on an actual tv if given a choice. Overall, if you’re a PlayStation fan and have a little money burning a hole in your pocket like I did, i’d say give it a try.

For all Dads out there, the PlayStation Portal is a solid option for remote gaming. It connects seamlessly to the PS5, allowing you to play your favorite games away from the main TV when it is occupied by Bluey or Sesame Street. The screen is sharp, and the controls feel just like a DualSense controller. However, it’s limited by requiring a constant, strong internet connection, and it doesn’t support cloud gaming or local apps. Overall, it’s great for PS5 owners who want a fully console experience while their main TV is occupied or while laying in bed, but some limitations may not make it ideal for everyone.

It's a Device that no one asked for but definitely needed. I'm a father of 2 and i use this while they sleep. It feels great, fast response and my favorite factor is the big screen. It is not the same as my OLED C1 LG but it gets the job done. I highly recommend it. Worth $200 plus the tax

I recently purchased the PS Portal from Best Buy, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. From the moment I unboxed it, the design felt sleek, comfortable, and premium. The setup was quick and simple, and within minutes I was streaming my PlayStation games with smooth performance and beautiful visuals.
The display is bright and crisp, making every detail in my games pop, and the controls feel just like a DualSense — responsive, comfortable, and immersive with the haptic feedback. I love the freedom it gives me to play my favorite games away from the TV, whether I’m relaxing on the couch, in bed, or even around the house.
Best Buy made the whole process super easy — fast shipping, great packaging, and excellent service. Overall, I highly recommend the PS Portal to any PlayStation fan who wants the convenience of remote play without sacrificing quality.
