Great device. Good companion to my ps5. Can play games while watching tv.

When Sony first revealed this handheld device, it was not appealing to me at all, but once I started to hear good reviews about it, I was persuaded to see for myself. Took some time, but eventually, I was able to get my hands on this elusive gaming device (I refuse to get ripped off by scalpers). The set-up was pretty straightforward, all you need is your PS5 Console and a strong sustainable WiFi connection (preferably the same network connected to your console). So, my PS5 console is hooked up in my living room, where 80% of the time it's being occupied by my wife and kids, and when you add in 50+hr work weeks, I rarely get the opportunity or have the energy to sit down and enjoy a proper game session. But, now that I have the PlayStation Portal, I'm able to game at my leisure, in the comfort and solitude of my own bedroom. Couple things to be aware of, if you're a traditional gamer like myself, who likes to buy physical disc games, whatever game you wish to play on the Portal, that physical disc has to be in your PS5 console in order to work. Also, if you wish to play on your Portal a good distance away from your PS5 console (car, work, etc.), unless you have a strong WiFi/Hot Spot connection, the Portal will have difficulties with streaming your game. Overall, the PlayStation Portal is a remarkable device, that has completely blown me away, and I can't thank Sony enough, for creating an outlet for gaming parents.

This thing had me confused at first; why would I need something like this? Then I read about other people playing games on it while leaving the tv free for other people and idea seemed great. I had to wait awhile to get one but it serves that exact purpose for me. My PS5 is literally in my room but I like to listen to familiar media like tv shows while I game so I play on the Portal while listening to tv shows in the background. The Portal is perfect 99% of the time; once in a while it’ll take a slight pause but it’s never ruined my gameplay. I’ve been playing Uncharted: Lost Legacy and that game has run smoothly every time I play with the slightest little pause once in a while but it hasn’t ruined my enjoyment of the game. My only complaint of the device is with Best Buy specifically; I ordered online for in store pickup and my box was extremely dented; thankfully the Portal itself wasn’t damaged but any store associate should’ve known that kind of packaging shouldn’t have been given to a customer, it just looks bad on the company. I’ve included pictures so people can see what I’m talking about. Like I said, the device is great, Best Buy associates need to put more care into how packages are handled.

This is great if you have good internet connection and if you have the high tier subscription you can play the games on the cloud which make it really worth having it you travel and you should also get the PlayStation charging station goes great with it

While the PS Portal isn't for everyone this controller is great for multi-taskers or for those who want to compromise with others who may want to watch the main TV while you still have the desire to game.
If you are looking for the next generation "on-the-go PS handheld device this isn't it.
However, if you are looking for the best use of Remote Play the PS Portal is the top device for that.
As someone who used to play on the iPad, I find the Portal a much better investment (provided you have strong WiFi connectivity).
The signal remains strong in any part of your home provided that you have high-speed internet of course.
Sound quality is amazing whether you are using headphones or the speakers. It's almost on the level of Apple Airpod Pros.
And just like an Apple product, it is user-friendly in terms of install and connectivity.
Additionally, you also have the same capabilities as the Duel Sense controller, including immersive haptic feedback, dynamic adaptive triggers, a built-in microphone, and a responsive touch screen.
For me (and others like me) this is a great component to add to your PS5.

I love this thing has great quality while cloud gaming but it is annoying that it only works with the subscriptions for ps plus not everyone wants to pay that

I am so excited for what Sony has in store for the next generation of portable devices. The portal is an amazing product, especially since they added their beta cloud streaming feature. It is so easy to hop on the game for a quick little hour session without having to power up the whole system. Super easy for people who don’t have a lot of time and just wanna play for a quick 30 minutes or so, I would definitely recommend this product. The price point is reasonable too especially if you get an out of the box one.

First off, I got this open box. It was a little dirty and the USB wire was missing. Once I cleaned it, it was in great condition.
The device itself does what it was meant to do but not without its hiccups. The PS5 needs to be wired for a satisfying experience. Also, I had to do port forwarding in order to connect to it outside of my home. With that done, I still occasionally have PS5 connection issues. It's usually remedied by disconnecting and reconnecting the Portal or manually starting up the PS5 (which kinda defeats the purpose of remote play). In the end, I'm happy with it. I'm actually playing more of my PS+ games library due to this thing. I see that as a win.

I have had the playstation portal for a week now and enjoy it very much. I would say it lags but very little though. Its convenient when you dont want to play somewwhere else around your house. I would reccomend you have fast internet to be able to enjoy portal.

It's a great product and serves a very specific purpose. It streams games from your Playstation 5 to this handheld. Best used if your PS5 is on ethernet and connected to the same network as this handheld, AKA you're at home where the PS5 is. However, i recently traveled to Florida and was able to play Final Fantasy XVI, streamed from my PS5 in California, with still very usable input lag. Quality is amazing, setup is quick and easy, and the controller is basically a Dualsense cut in half (which is a good thing).
Drawbacks are lack of a web browser so you cannot connect to public wifi requiring a website agreement. No bluetooth so only audio options are built in speakers (they're okay), aux port, or PS Link headset/ear buds. Also i think this is a huge missed opportunity to allow support for game streaming classic PS1/2/3 titles via PS Plus. This could be a huge subscriber boost for Sony if they enabled PS Plus game streaming without the need of a PS5. Perhaps in the bext iteration.
