Bought this as a gift for my husband, and it's worked out really well so far. It's comfortable to hold, easy to use, and the picture is phenomenal. It was simple to connect to the existing Playstation/account, and the way it can be used is really convenient. He loves the size of the screen, and the feel of the buttons. The volume on this thing gets LOUD, and I'm really impressed with the overall quality. The Portal is well designed, looks sleek and sophisticated, and was easily integrated into our current TV stand setup.

The PS Portal is an excellent product that exceeded my expectations. It is made with premium materials and feels very solid and durable in the hands. The battery life is quite reasonable for its performance, lasting long enough for extended gaming sessions. As long as you have a strong and stable internet connection, the PS Portal functions smoothly and provides an impressive remote play experience. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to any PlayStation owner looking for a high-quality way to play on the go.

First off, I am so sick of the "YoU sHoUlD pLuG yOuR cOnSoLe InTo EtHeRnEt" responses about improving performance with this. We get it, wired is always better; not everyone's setup allows for that! In a world where so many devices are wireless, and Sony expects you to remote play on sometimes crappy wifi, it is shocking to me that in the same home / on the same network you end up with enough latency to make it drop connection or get grainy/laggy. It gets a little better each update, but still kinda lackluster and it is so odd that it - pretty much across the board with people on the same wifi for their console - will perform better outside of your home when they're on separate networks! Sometimes I just want to play in bed or something and it's kinda bad at that. Overall it is a really cool device and when it works, it works well! It's a compelling alternative to other handhelds especially with more recent ones like ROG Ally X and MSI Claw costing $800-900 and continuing to rise with each new handheld! For $200 you can play your games on, what I feel like, is a more ergonomically friendly device and better controller. GOOD: - Controller is great, if you like PS5 controllers - Adaptive triggers work on it! - Screen looks nice - Light weight compared to other handhelds like Steam Deck, Rog Ally, Lenovo Legion Go. Nice alternative here. - Access to your PS library without re-buying games for PC on other handhelds BAD: - Latency can be atrocious, especially on the same network. Often have to reboot this and my PS5 to get a solid connection to play, which is a bit of a known issue/workaround. - Anything competitive or really input lag sensitive starts to feel almost nauseating with delays or mismatch to what you expect - Should allow direct streaming of PS Plus stuff, which initially didn't and won't be fully realized unless they include that. Take out my need for PS device for remote stream games and eliminate a hop! For $200 it's good, but if you have a handheld and want to use something like Chiaki it sadly works better most times on wifi, so I would go that route before buying this. If you have your PS5 on ethernet, let 'er rip and this probably works great!

This handheld gaming device has been a great purchase. The performance is smooth, the graphics look sharp, and games load quickly without lag. The controls feel comfortable and responsive, and the overall build quality feels solid. The screen is bright and clear, which makes playing for long sessions much more enjoyable. Battery life is decent, and the device stays cool even during more demanding games. If you're looking for a portable system that delivers console-level power, this is an excellent choice.

The PlayStation Portal is a great device when it’s working as intended — the screen is bright, the controls are responsive, and when I’m close to my router, the performance is smooth and lag-free. However, it can be a bit finicky with interference, sometimes struggling to connect to my PS5 or wake it up right away. A quick restart usually fixes the issue, but it’s an occasional annoyance. Overall, I really like it, though for the price, Sony should include at least a year of their highest PlayStation Plus tier since that’s what unlocks the full streaming potential.

The PlayStation Portal surprised me in the best way. It’s super convenient, lightweight, and the screen looks crisp and smooth while playing. The DualSense controls feel exactly like a PS5 controller, so it doesn’t feel like a downgrade at all. As long as you have a solid Wi-Fi connection, the gameplay is fast and responsive with almost no noticeable lag. It’s perfect for gaming in bed, on the couch, or when the TV is being used by someone else.

Okay so it’s been a couple months now since I purchased this and honestly, I am very glad I did. At first I thought that this was going to be hit-or-miss since I had heard that it was limited to a certain degree but shout to PlayStation for updating it and allowing for more features. I have been able to play all of my games. It’s like streaming it into your, there is some lag but with good WiFi you shouldn’t see any issues. All in all, it’s a good product and if all you care for is getting to play your PlayStation video games while on the road as I frequently am, then I would recommend it. Especially at this price This is more so for people who frequently travel or have a place where they are often sitting for hours without anything to do. Lastly, my only drawbacks is that sometimes it doesn’t connect right away. And what you need to do is disconnect the WiFi and reconnect it in order for it to work. This does appear to be some sort of software issue and should probably be addressed by PlayStation on a future update file.

The best gift ever! Can play all your ps5 games remotely from anywhere. I think this product is extremely underrated. The only cons is if the wifi is slow the graphics get blurred, but otherwise there has been no lag issues so far. The screen size is perfect, and the product itself is lightweight to carry or hold for a long time.

Works well, easy to use throughout house and places with good Internet. But if you have a slower plan or a lot of items on your wifi it suffers. Comfortable to use and great picture (when you have good connection).

    PlayStation Portal Remote Player review

PlayStation Portal review - updated w/speaker impressions and a very good reason you may want to consider getting one. I finally got to play with it for a few hours here. It is A REALLY good looking piece of equipment, first and foremost. It isn't ugly or as weird as you'd think it'll look. People are going to want to know what it is when they see it. The screen is nice and big and the colors on it really pop. I tested my phone's hotspot connection first because that's how I'll be playing at work, sometimes. It works fairly well on that. Was it perfect? No. But it did the job and didn't cut off on me one time. Even though the quality wasn't at its best the latency was super low on it still. It did tend to get to a pretty rough quality at times, but it wasn't bad or long enough to be worried about. I got through about 30 minutes of a match on 2K before I switched to my homes WiFi. I have a separate router from my main router but I tested the main one first. That one did exactly what Sony said it would. It worked nearly flawlessly and the picture quality never dipped! It was 1080p the entire time. I tested my network on my separate router and connected to 5ghz and it also connected really fast, even faster than my main one! It did give me a few little artefacts here and there but nothing crazy. It ran mostly smooth and I played a little bit of Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition with that and it looks fantastic. I took pictures from the capture button on it. Looked no different than how or would if you did it on the system itself. The battery life came charged with three of the four bars charged. I played it for about three hours nearly and it went down to one bar no signs of it having a low battery at that point. I would probably say it can last about a good 6-8 hours on a full charge based on that observation. I did turn down the dual sense features to make sure it let's the battery last longer. It's an ideal way to play PS5 in your home if your TV is occupied, you need to go to the bathroom but don't want to stop playing, or simply because you might not want to turn on your TV at night and just want a quick session. As for sound, it's more than serviceable, but not THE best speakers in the world. For me? I think they are loud enough to fill a room on full blast, and doesn't really give off that tinny sensation that you get from similar devices. It does what it's supposed to do though, it gets the job done and you won't really be complaining about it. It's really just a matter of convenience, optimization, and utilization. Your phone and tablet and other handheld consoles just cannot offer you a simplistic, yet seamless experience of having your PlayStation 5 AND dual sense controller with full support of it's features in your hands all on one display on ONE device. Overall, Sony has optimized this thing to give you a virtually lag free experience even outside of your home. You CANNOT get that with other devices. It's just not happening. I give it a 9/10!

I was skeptical at first to get this after reading reviews but i took a chance since I’m not always home so i wanted something on the go especially using any Wifi availableto me. The picture quality is amazing the controller feedback is smooth the volume without headphones on is awesome and the battery life lasts a long time!! Also i got the warranty since if i ever have issues i can get it replaced but i would say this is so worth the price and to have if you want something portable!! 10/10

PlayStation Portal Review – A Surprisingly Handy P

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the PlayStation Portal. At first glance, it looks like someone split a DualSense controller in half and slapped a screen in the middle—and honestly, that’s pretty much what it is. But after spending some time with it, I’ve got to say: it’s way more useful than I thought. Setup was easy. As long as your PS5 is on and connected to Wi-Fi, the Portal streams your games right to its 8-inch screen. The display isn’t OLED, but it’s crisp, bright, and surprisingly vivid. I’ve played everything from Spider-Man 2 to Hogwarts Legacy on it, and the visuals hold up well. No major lag or stuttering, as long as your home network is solid. The real win here is the controls. It feels just like using a regular PS5 controller—adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, all the good stuff. No weird button layouts or awkward grips. It’s familiar, which makes jumping into a game feel seamless. Battery life is decent. I’ve gotten around 6–8 hours depending on what I’m playing. Charging is quick, though the port placement is a little odd—it’s tucked underneath, which can be annoying if you’re using a stand. Now, it’s not perfect. You can’t stream games from the cloud, and it only works over Wi-Fi (no cellular). So if you were hoping to take it on the road and play from a hotel or café, you’ll need a strong connection and your PS5 powered on at home. It’s definitely more of a “play around the house” device than a true portable console. Bottom line: If you’re deep into the PlayStation ecosystem and want a way to keep gaming when the TV’s taken—or just want to lounge on the couch without hogging the big screen—the Portal is a solid companion. It’s not a must-have, but once you’ve got it, you’ll find yourself reaching for it more than you expected

As the owner of the original white one, even though I had problems with the first generation before the Magnificent updates, it's gone through I really love the device after selling the black one. I owned what made me purchase it again the fact that they released a new update that now allows you to play all your PlayStation 5 pro Although you do need a proper connection to make the streaming possible and for it to work properly With all the familiar dual sense controls split in half by a screen Which in my opinion should have been an OLED display, but it's not though. The LCD gets the job done and still delivers. Do I recommend the device? Obviously I do As it offers you the ability to play all your PlayStation 5 games Without the need of your console through streaming if you still haven't decide to own one go for it. You will love it as much as I do and it's a wonderful device in addition to the PlayStation 5, especially the midnight Black Edition one

As a companion to your PS5, it's fantastic for those who like to game away from their couch. Combine it with Playstation Plus Premium, and you have a fully handheld game machine that can cloud stream 100s of games instantly. I was skeptical, but as long as you have a strong connection to whatever wifi you're on (speed isn't a huge factor), it works pretty flawlessly, making this a budget standalone handheld gaming console that can give you instant access to Playstation exclusives. PROS: DualSense features built in Simple, Intuitive software Pick-up and Play Extremely comfortable, fantastic ergonomics PS Plus Premium unlocks huge capabilities CONS -Have had 1 instance where it lost connection to my PS5 but it seemed like a fluke. No issues since -need ps plus premium (160/year) to get the most out of this OVERALL: If you're a gaming enthusiast and love the PS library/ecosystem, this is a no brainer.

The portal, despite its peculiar and unique appearance, is actually quite impressive. It feels comfortable in your hands, and the display is awesome. It’s great to have a handheld device that you can actually hold. Additionally, they’ve revolutionized the gaming experience. You no longer need to connect to your PS5; you can now stream games directly from your device, provided you have the highest PlayStation Plus package. My only concern is that if you play an online game like Fortnite, there might be a slight delay. However, this could potentially be due to my internet connection.

The PlayStation Portal Remote Player has been fantastic for remote play. It makes streaming games from my PS5 incredibly smooth and responsive — the 1080p display is crisp, the controls feel great in hand, and the ergonomics are comfortable for long sessions. Setup was quick and easy, and I love being able to pick up my PS5 games anywhere in the house without interrupting someone else’s TV time. The device stays responsive over Wi-Fi and handles fast action games with very little latency. Battery life has been solid for extended play sessions, and overall it feels like a well-designed companion to the PS5. Highly recommend it if you want a dedicated remote play experience without lugging around a full console or laptop.
