The thought of the handheld is great. Thought this would be a great way for my husband to play the playstation with the kids. However because they sync together, one or the other has to be played at a time. Would be much more pleasant to play if both could be played at the same time. If too faraway from the Playstation it lags as well.

Wow! This is much better than expected. My PS5 is hard-wired via Ethernet, and this connects to the same router as the PS5 via Wifi. I have never had any lag or speed issues. Even though the screen is IPS, it's still bright and colorful, and I had no problems playing any of my titles. Lightweight, pleasant in the hand to hold. Now I'm not restricted to the chair and TV; I can lie on the couch, lie in bed on these cold nights, and play. I love these thing, I have the Legion Go 2, totally different product I know, but for my use, I prefer this and it's a 10th of the cost

It is extremely useful. It is a remote play so PS5 is needed to remotely access, but it connects better than any other device used for remote playing. The display is crystal clear and it keeps the viauals of the conaole so if used with a PS5 Pro it will look just as good. It also has a fearure to stream games directly from PS plus cloud.

Absolute best way to play PS5 away from your TV

This is possibly one of the best pieces of technology I’ve purchased in a long time. It works effortlessly to connect to my PS5 and allows me the flexibility to play the games I want anywhere in my home without having to move the console. I love playing on the big screen but with some games this sometimes causes motion sickness over prolonged periods of intense game play. The Portal allows me to play in between, and reduces that sense of motion sickness. The quality of the handheld is amazing, and the screen is big, bright, and gorgeous. The ergonomics of the grips are fantastic. It feels exactly like a Dualsense controller despite the added distance between the left and right grips due to the large screen. Battery life seems to be pretty normal, I have had no issues with it depleting faster than I need it to. The only improvement I could suggest is the placement of the USB-C charging port. It’s a little difficult getting it plugged in under the lip of the back of the device. It would be better suited to the top of the handheld so you don’t have to “dig” to get it in the port, and it would make it easier to charge while the device is still in use. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the Portal and I am excited to use it away from home when they bring game streaming out of beta. If you have been thinking about purchasing a Portal, do it. You will not regret it.

I like it and it's definitely cool but I don't think you absolutely need it. It's very convenient of you travel or like to watch TV and play games but it can be a little slow and is very dependant on your internet. Cool product tho and $200 is a reasonable price.

Had a trip to Orlando and took it and it was amazing it was functioning well and had no problems with the connection. I recommended leaving your ps5 on rest mode that way if you have the ps app you can turn it on anywhere your at and could use your ps portal.

Purchased open box for $140. And for that price a great supplement to the PS5. Remote play and cloud streaming requires a solid internet connection, and can be spotty if you dont have full signal, even with 2Gbps Fiber, so make sure you are close to your router. But for a gamer dad, this device allows me to play games casually more than ever. Just dont expect to reliably play multiplayer games due to latency. However, ive been playing Arc Raiders through cloud streaming to do low risk loot raids when my familiy’s using the TV and its been a blast.

First off, I am so sick of the "YoU sHoUlD pLuG yOuR cOnSoLe InTo EtHeRnEt" responses about improving performance with this. We get it, wired is always better; not everyone's setup allows for that! In a world where so many devices are wireless, and Sony expects you to remote play on sometimes crappy wifi, it is shocking to me that in the same home / on the same network you end up with enough latency to make it drop connection or get grainy/laggy. It gets a little better each update, but still kinda lackluster and it is so odd that it - pretty much across the board with people on the same wifi for their console - will perform better outside of your home when they're on separate networks! Sometimes I just want to play in bed or something and it's kinda bad at that. Overall it is a really cool device and when it works, it works well! It's a compelling alternative to other handhelds especially with more recent ones like ROG Ally X and MSI Claw costing $800-900 and continuing to rise with each new handheld! For $200 you can play your games on, what I feel like, is a more ergonomically friendly device and better controller. GOOD: - Controller is great, if you like PS5 controllers - Adaptive triggers work on it! - Screen looks nice - Light weight compared to other handhelds like Steam Deck, Rog Ally, Lenovo Legion Go. Nice alternative here. - Access to your PS library without re-buying games for PC on other handhelds BAD: - Latency can be atrocious, especially on the same network. Often have to reboot this and my PS5 to get a solid connection to play, which is a bit of a known issue/workaround. - Anything competitive or really input lag sensitive starts to feel almost nauseating with delays or mismatch to what you expect - Should allow direct streaming of PS Plus stuff, which initially didn't and won't be fully realized unless they include that. Take out my need for PS device for remote stream games and eliminate a hop! For $200 it's good, but if you have a handheld and want to use something like Chiaki it sadly works better most times on wifi, so I would go that route before buying this. If you have your PS5 on ethernet, let 'er rip and this probably works great!

The PlayStation Portal honestly surprised me. I didn’t expect much, but it works really well for playing my PS5 around the house. The screen looks great, the controls feel just like the regular DualSense, and it’s super comfortable to use. You do need a good Wi-Fi connection if the signal drops, you’ll notice it. But when the connection is solid, the gameplay feels smooth and responsive. It’s not a standalone console, but for relaxing in bed, on the couch, or anywhere at home without using the TV, it’s really convenient and does exactly what I needed.

PlayStation Portal is a comfortable, well-built handheld that streams PS5 games with a sharp 8-inch screen and DualSense-style controls. On strong Wi-Fi, it feels smooth and responsive, perfect for couch or bed play. However, it can’t play games locally, and performance drops on weaker networks. Audio options are limited.

This handheld gaming device has been a great purchase. The performance is smooth, the graphics look sharp, and games load quickly without lag. The controls feel comfortable and responsive, and the overall build quality feels solid. The screen is bright and clear, which makes playing for long sessions much more enjoyable. Battery life is decent, and the device stays cool even during more demanding games. If you're looking for a portable system that delivers console-level power, this is an excellent choice.

Portal is good but not for online game play as even with the best internet connection it will cut off stream. Also for people without P5 they can play stream games for about $18 or $20 a month only. The is nice details everything display is great batter last for about 4 to 5 hours so far since playing

I’m really impressed with the PlayStation Portal. The screen quality is excellent, the controls feel just like the PS5 controller, and gameplay is smooth with a good Wi-Fi connection. It’s perfect for playing while someone else uses the TV. Setup was fast and easy, and it works exactly as expected. Definitely worth it for PS5 fans.

Excellent remote gaming experience. The PlayStation Portal works great for remote play. The screen is bright and clear, the controls feel just like a DualSense controller, and the performance is smooth with very low lag on a good Wi-Fi connection. Setup was quick and easy, and it’s perfect for playing PS5 games when the TV is in use. The battery life is solid, and overall it delivers exactly what it promises. Highly recommended for PS5 owners.

I’ve been using my iPad paired with a dualsense for remote play since I’ve had my PS5, but this is just so much better and more convenient. Now, I can literally play my PS5 games just about anywhere and not have to worry about having somewhere to place my iPad while playing. The pottal also does great with reconnecting if it drops connection unlike the remote play app on tablets/phones. I tried a backbone for a while but hated tying up my phone to use just for that. My only complaints so far are that the touchpad integration feels kinda thrown in, and I’m also not a huge fan of the PS button placement. It’s not perfect, no…but I’ve been loving it since I got it.

With a PlayStation plus premium subscription, this device plays the streaming games very well. Very natural feeling in the hands. I wish the blacks on the screen were darker and a wider contrast but this is also only $200 and the display punches above that price point. My biggest complaint is the lack of compatibility with third party Bluetooth headphones. I know they want to sell other hardware, but I already have too many expensive headphone choices at home.
