The portal is a great way to play your ps5 around the house. It gives the flexibility of a handheld around your house. The only downside the battery life. It only last 3-4 hours and then takes a minute to recharge.
Using the Portal much more than i thought i ever w

I was very very hesitant to get the Portal, i wasnt sure i would use it enough to make it worth it, nor was i sure if it worked well due to a lot of reviews saying its laggy and takes a lot of time to connect. I am pleased to say it is SO worth it!
The over all build of the portal is great, at first glance i thought it looked fragile and cheaply made, but it is much sturdier than i thought. The controller grips feel exactly the same as the duelsense controllers, just with slightly smaller control sticks.
Lets just say my internet at my house is patchy at best. My provider is very unreliable but its the only option in my area. With that being said in my house i have no connection issues with the portal and very little lag (only stutters if we have a bunch of devices on the wifi at once and "high traffic times" when close neighbors' signals jam up), but that was maybe one or two nights. I also had issues getting disconnected from the wifi one night but im chalking that up to the service provider and not the portal!
Over all i would say, if you would like to play PS5 as your tv is taken up by a significant other or you want to watch something as you game, the portal is for you. If you want to go lay in bed and play a bit before falling asleep, its for you. If you travel (to places with wifi) its for you. I didnt think id use it as much as i have, i originally thought "oh its not for me", but i have found myself making excuses to use the Portal. I have run a variety of games on it, from simple games like PS classic games and Stardew Valley, to more demanding games like FF7 rebirth demo, God of War Ragnorok, etc. All have worked perfectly.
The screen is bright and looks great even for just an lcd. One down point is the fact that the lowest volume setting on it is still VERY loud, so if im playing in bed and my fiancee wants to read, i end up needing headphones, which you can use a 3.5mm wired headphones, but not bluetooth!
If you have the means to get one and are able to snag one as its in stock, do it! Its very worth it for even casual gamers!

The PS Portal is, by a lot of definitions, a solid device. It’s essentially built like a dualsense with a tablet sandwiched in between the sides and is largely comfortable to use. The big notice with this thing is that Sony’s protocol for connecting to your PS5 is…imperfect to say the least. Bottom line, I find this thing works great for stuff like sports games, card games, some indie games, or other types of games that don’t super heavily rely on precision timing. The input delay introduced through remote play is passable, but I wouldn’t dare use it to play any FPS or even some more difficult platformers. All in all, it has its uses, and if your use case aligns with the mentioned scenarios above, I’d recommend it.

Got the portal before the update, had to connect to the console after every session. After the update, you are able to stream games instead of having to connect to the console, so that makes it alot better when playing on the go.

I am very happy with this purchase, it came in 2 days and works great. It sometimes takes a minute to start but I can play all of my games anywhere in my house. No connection issues.

The PlayStation Portal is a sleek $199 handheld designed for streaming your PS5 games over Wi-Fi. It features a crisp 8” 1080p LCD screen and full DualSense controls—including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback—built right into the device. While it doesn’t run games locally and requires a PS5 and stable internet, it delivers smooth, low-latency remote play with excellent image quality. Battery life is around 4–5 hours, and while it lacks Bluetooth audio, it supports wired headphones and Sony’s PS Link. If you want to keep gaming when someone else is using the TV, the Portal is a convenient, well-made companion.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He absolutely loves it and has used it almost every day since he has gotten it. He loves being able to play any of his favorite games even while we’re out of town. 10/10 recommend for any PlayStation lover!!

Nice to be able to take game around the house and not be tied to main tv. I thought this would be a shelf sitter but find myself using it on a regular basis to let the kids use tv or hang out on the porch and play. Great screen smooth controls.

I bought the Ps5 portal and it runs smooth it just needs wifi were you are. The down side you cant turn it on only off or rest mode. But its nice playing outside or any where you want but with wifi of course.

The PlayStation Portal completely changed the way I game. I can sink into my favorite PS5 titles anywhere—whether I’m lounging on the couch, in bed, or even while the TV is in use. The controls feel exactly like my DualSense, the display is gorgeous and vibrant, and the connection is so smooth it feels like I’m right on my console. It’s not just convenient—it’s pure freedom for a gamer. Every time I pick it up, it reminds me why I love PlayStation and why Best Buy is my go-to spot for the best tech experiences.

Works good (better with ethernet cord connection) and easy to set up. Only suggestion would be use an ethernet cord to connect PS5 to router if possible. Or use a mesh router to cord connect with the router and a use a second mesh router to ethernet cord connect your PS5 if it is not in the same room. I used a relay mesh router to connect to the one in my living room, then connect that with my PS5 via an ethernet cord and the Portal is flawless now. No more reconnecting due to WIFI not being strong enough in other rooms or lagging.

Perfect for gaming on the go! Great handheld, works at its best if your console at home is hardwired but will certainly stream clear with a strong Wi-Fi connection. Perfect for when I’m on the road traveling for work.

PS Portal is okay. Most people don't talk about the fact that the joysticks themselves are smaller than the actual PS5 dual sense controller,so it makes it harder to play fps games. Like the build quality and the idea behind the portal but between the bad connection for hotspot AT&T 5G Turbo with full bars and the smaller joysticks I ended up returning it. Also my PS5 pro is hooked up to Ethernet on the 6ghz WiFi 6e band. At home it worked fine, but I wanted something while I'm away so now I just use remote play on my laptop with a spare controller and have a much better experience.

Once I was finally able to get it in my cart I thought it was a fluke. Kind of like a unicorn sighting. I hit buy without hesitation. I couldn’t believe it. I had been trying to purchase this for my husband since November when it came out. He was over moon! The graphics are amazing. Has the feel of the PS5 remote, rather than backbone. So far I feel it has been pretty good especially for traveling. If you can ever get one with out over paying online for one get it!

Amazing product! It’s everything I asked for and then some! This product allows me to play from my bed or anywhere else on a strong wifi connection! For example I am in NY and my PS5 is on at my house in Boston! Nifty and convenient product on the go. Best Buy was able to help me in tremendous ways and the easiest way. I am thankful for all the help and support and will be using this website to purchase more products in the future! This is one of the best gifts I could have ever received. Thankyou Best Buy

Great performance and excellent service at Best Buy. As soon as I walked in someone asked if I needed assistance and proceeded to get my online order for me to check out. Ordered some online and picked up same day. Wonderful experience!
Product feels solid in my hands and buttons all work great as does the touch screen even with a call screen protector applied. Charging port is difficult to access but that is a very minor issue. Wish battery life was longer but with max brightness and volume I guess that is to be expected a bit (3-4 hrs playtime est.)
