I am disappointed that you can't play 1 person shooting games or certain games for that matter.
This remote player is a waste. PSP I'm waiting for now. I rather be able to travel with my system handheld then carrying the whole system plus the remote portal.

Unfortunately not worth the $216.49 system has horrible connection issues. Hopefully PlayStation releases an update to fix this issue till then id recommend waiting 2-3 months before purchasing item. Also can ONLY be played if you OWN a playstation 5 so id recommend just saving up & purchasing the PS5 instead.

Can’t be used unless your ps5 is on , can’t be used outside even if p5 is on. Can’t be used if on different WiFi from ps5. It’s literally just a controller with a screen.

The PlayStation Portal is a great device when it’s working as intended — the screen is bright, the controls are responsive, and when I’m close to my router, the performance is smooth and lag-free. However, it can be a bit finicky with interference, sometimes struggling to connect to my PS5 or wake it up right away. A quick restart usually fixes the issue, but it’s an occasional annoyance. Overall, I really like it, though for the price, Sony should include at least a year of their highest PlayStation Plus tier since that’s what unlocks the full streaming potential.

Works well, easy to use throughout house and places with good Internet. But if you have a slower plan or a lot of items on your wifi it suffers. Comfortable to use and great picture (when you have good connection).

The PlayStation Portal delivers exactly what it promises: a premium way to stream PS5 games around the house. The large, vibrant display looks fantastic, and the controls feel just like the DualSense—no compromises there. Build quality is excellent, and it’s obvious Sony designed this as a top-tier accessory.
It doesn’t run games on its own. For me, that’s fine—95% of the time I’m gaming at home anyway. I have fiber internet and just the standard AT&T router, and I’m able to play anywhere in my house with little to no issues. The experience is smooth most of the time, though you will notice some lag. Competitive shooters and battle royales don’t really work here, but single-player titles and slower-paced games feel great. Even Destiny 2 is playable, though not ideal.
The value is what makes the Portal stand out. It’s far cheaper than a handheld PC or gaming console, and for most of what I like to play, it works really well. As a busy parent, it’s given me more chances to actually enjoy my PS5 library without fighting over the TV.
The PlayStation Portal isn’t for every situation, but if you understand its limits and have solid internet, it’s an excellent way to extend your console.

If you have access to a fast, reliable internet connection, then the PlayStation Portal will work awesome for you. I love the Midnight Black finish and the ability to not hog the main tv at night, but still enjoy my Playstation. I have been quite impressed and the battery life is better than i expected.

Easy to connect to our PS5 and works exactly as intended. I don’t mind that we can’t take it out of the house because it’s meant to be used when our toddler wants to watch something else on the TV. Screen quality is good, no latency issues with the controls and the battery actually goes on for a while. Would definitely recommend.

I recently purchased the Sony Portable Remote Player, and I must say, it has exceeded all my expectations. This device is incredibly useful for the purpose it was designed for, and it truly feels like my entire PlayStation console fits into this compact portal.
First and foremost, the setup was a breeze. Within minutes, I was able to connect the Portable Remote Player to my PlayStation console, and the seamless integration was impressive. The device's sleek design and lightweight build make it perfect for on-the-go gaming, allowing me to enjoy my favorite games anywhere and anytime.
The performance of the Sony Portable Remote Player is outstanding. The high-resolution screen delivers crisp and vibrant visuals, making every game look stunning. The controls are responsive and intuitive, providing a console-like experience in a portable format. Whether I'm playing fast-paced action games or immersive RPGs, the Remote Player handles everything flawlessly.
One of the standout features is the remote play functionality. This allows me to access my PlayStation console and play games remotely, even when I'm away from home. It's incredibly convenient and has transformed the way I game. I can now enjoy my PlayStation library without being tied to my living room.
Battery life is another area where the Sony Portable Remote Player shines. The device offers hours of uninterrupted gameplay, and the quick charging capabilities ensure that I'm never without my gaming fix for long. The battery life is truly impressive for such a powerful device.
In conclusion, the Sony Portable Remote Player is a game-changer for anyone who loves PlayStation gaming. It feels like my whole PlayStation console fits into this sleek, portable device, and it has become an essential part of my gaming setup. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile, high-performance remote gaming solution. This is a must-have for PlayStation enthusiasts!

Don't get me wrong portability is there. But in terms of graphics the quality does take a dive and it's pretty noticeable. Of course I'm not expecting the same quality you would get from a 4k or higher standard TV but you just can't unsee it. Another thing to keep in mind this is useless without a PS5 nearby. Don't expect to play this for cloud gaming because it doesn't have that capability. Unless it is added in the future. But the build quality is great, lightweight and obviously portable. If you want to play on the go then this is not it. Get a steam deck, ROG, MSI or Lenovo handheld for that.

This device is a game-changer for remote play. The DualSense features feel amazing, and the screen is crisp and bright. It's so convenient to play my PS5 games anywhere in the house without needing the TV. If you have a stable Wi-Fi connection, this is a must-have accessory!

The PlayStation Portal is basically a glorified PS5 sidekick, a sleek 8” screen slapped between two DualSense halves. It streams games from your PS5 over Wi-Fi like a loyal digital butler, complete with haptics and adaptive triggers. Battery life? Solid. Setup? Stupidly easy. But don’t expect miracles: no Bluetooth (because reasons), no cloud gaming (yet), and forget about Netflix or anything fun outside gaming. It’s Wi-Fi 5 only—like it time-traveled from 2018—and needs your PS5 like a clingy ex. Still, it sold nearly 2 million units because, let’s face it, gaming in bed is adult responsibilities. If you’ve ever wished you could play God of War while pretending to listen to your partner talk about their day, this is your moment.

If you're a PlayStation enthusiast looking for a way to keep the game going even when you're away from your console, the PlayStation Portal is an absolute must-have. It's seriously fun to use, bringing your PS5 games to life wherever you are with a crisp screen that hits the sweet spot—not too big, not too small, just perfect for handheld gaming.
Battery life is impressive too—it holds a charge for hours, which means you can dive deep into your favorite games without worrying about constantly plugging in. And with the addition of cloud play, it’s become an even better value. Whether you’re lounging in bed, hanging out in another room, or on the move with solid Wi-Fi, this thing just works.
If you’re already in the PlayStation ecosystem and want a seamless way to enjoy your games outside of the living room, the PlayStation Portal is a no-brainer. It’s easily one of the most fun and practical accessories Sony has released in a while.
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this when I bought it but after a few weeks with it I'm glad that I did.

Fits well in my hands, lightweight, good grip, very nice display and graphics, same size of a PS4 controller just cut in half. Add a skin for greater grip and control. Plays really well at home on the internal wifi, plays well when away on a hotel wifi, just don't try to use a phone hot spot unless you don't mind lags in the video and a *massive* drain on your data plan. I tested on my phone with a 10GB data sharing plan and in 10 minutes had half a gig of data used, so the math means 200 minutes, which is about one night's worth of play. Really good value compared to other portable platforms, charges quickly and holds the charge well. Whatever you have on your home console is what you're able to play, even digitally downloaded games.

I originally bought this because I have some games I like to play handheld, as they are easier to see. I love Stardew Valley, but I always feel like I'm squinting at the TV, and this makes it more enjoyable. I was a little worried about hand pain, as I do have hand and wrist issues, but it's surprisingly comfortable to hold and not too heavy. So I have no problem playing for hours at a time.
You do need to have your PS5 on in order to use remote play, but they do offer an option of cloud gaming with one of the higher PS Plus subscriptions, so you technically wouldn't even need a PS5 at all if you decided to go for that option.
Battery life could be improved, IMO. You get maybe 5 or 6 hours of play on one charge, which could be annoying if you're travelling. Overall, though, it's great.

Far superior experience than backbone which has vastly inferior controller functionality and whose screen is only as large your phone. Portal has a nice large screen, excellent size, ps style controls with smooth controller integration across both sides of the screen, and good battery life. Does require wifi to work although it need not be on the same network. In essence, think of this as the portable version of your Playstation, giving your ps5 similar functionality as a switch/2.

I bought the Ps5 portal and it runs smooth it just needs wifi were you are. The down side you cant turn it on only off or rest mode. But its nice playing outside or any where you want but with wifi of course.

The PlayStation Portal is a game-changer for both casual and hardcore gamers. With its sleek design and vibrant display, it offers a seamless gaming experience that allows you to access your entire library on the go. The intuitive controls and responsive gameplay make it easy to dive into action, whether you're at home or traveling. One of the standout features is the remote play capability, enabling you to continue your gaming sessions from anywhere. The rich audio quality enhances immersion, while the built-in voice chat keeps you connected with friends. Overall, the PlayStation Portal delivers an incredible blend of portability and performance, making it a must-have for any gaming enthusiast!

Does what it says, convenient to use PS5 all over the house, controls are great, screen is great. Beware though, you cannot use streaming services on it, that is stated in places but easy to miss, still a great product
