It's a remote that controls both your ps3 (via bluetooth) and your TV (via IR) connected to the console. An earlier version of the ps3 remote control does not have the capability to control your TV and so you're stuck with juggling two remotes (when you need to turn TV on, control volume, etc.) The controls could be more ergonomic. Hard to touch the buttons on the very bottom of the remote with one hand, unless you have a very flexible thumb.

The remote works great but not at wider angles. You have to be within a 90 degree arc of the front of the console.

I love this remote. Turns out play station into blue ray player and makes browsing Netflix much easier. A must have.

Great alternative to the controller for maneuvering through menus or videoplay. Decent battery life only takes 2 AAAs.

Bought a PS3 from a garage sale, I don't use it for gaming but more to watch Blu-ray movies. Needed a remote that would perform like a movie remote and not gaming remote... Love this remote as it allows me to control channels, volume, plus switching inputs... Does everything I need it do do!

It doesn't drain the battery and there is no lag. I enjoy using it for watching Netflix and movies.

We got this when we re-purposed our son's Playstation 3. He was no longer using it, and we wanted a Blu-ray player on our living room television. The inconvenience was using the Playstation 3 controller as a remote for Blu-rays. This remote looks and functions like any other Sony remote.

I should have purchased this when i bought the PlayStation instead of using game controls...

This remote is much better than using the game remote while watching DVDs. Great investment.

I wish I would have known that they had this item years ago. It was needed a long time ago.

Not having to use a controller saves a bunch of time in getting to the movie or the CD.

I had to program it to my ps3 which was a given, however it programmed itself to my tv on its own which was very nice. It's easy to use when you're using Netflix and not playing a game. Obviously it won't work for a game, but everything else media wise has been a breeze.

For at least a year I've been using the PS3 controller to work my PS3 when using Netflix and playing Blu Rays. Came across this remote by accident in the store and got it. LOVE IT. Nice to use a regular remote instead of a game controller to watch movies and work my PS3!

We use this remote for our smart tv mainly to use the apps and it works great!

Straight forward simple. User friendly SONY product. Outstanding. Solid built

No problems with the remote, but it would be nice if the numbers were backlit.
