After about 1 month of use on these headphones, I have to say they are incredible.
Battery : 10/10
Lasts me more than 10 hours at a time. I just throw it on a charger overnight.
Style : 10/10
Other headphones look super bulky and nerdy. While these still are monstrous, at least they're not super heavily branded and glowing with LED's.
Comfort 8/10
Around the ears, it's great. Typically, my ears would overheat over time. The metal band on the head can be a little irritating over time.
Sound 10/10
The VSS/3D audio on these headphones is unbelievable. I've been heavily invested in the new Call of Duty, and throughout the campaign everything almost sounded real from sound proximity (voices, footsteps, etc) and explosions. These are very useful for multiplayer too in order to hear footsteps in certain games. It is also very easy to toggle party chat and in game audio and modify how loud each of them is.
Price 8/10.
Got the black friday deal for about $115. That is a much better value for these headphones than their normal price. However, regardless, they are still a great pair of headphones.
Microphone 7/10
As per my friends, my microphone sounds muffled, but for the most part clear enough. I've attempted to adjust volume, but it did not make much of a difference.
I have not tested out the other Sony headphones

Enjoying this set of headphones.
Easy to use, and make gaming fun.
The ability to change the volume between party chat and game sound is really handy.
Battery life is great and charges fairly quickly.
The sound quality is great, not excellent, but better than most.
They could be more comfortable, I wear glasses so after extended periods of play around my ears get sore.
A bit over priced. They should be more in the $80-100 range.
Overall: impressed, not wowed, but not disappointed in my purchase.

Plug and play with the PS4. Much better then my older PlayStation Gold headset. Great sound quality, mic works great, comfortable, and no worries of the band breaking that goes from ear to ear since it’s made out of metal & not plastic like the PlayStation gold series.

Here's my take on the new PS4 Platinum headsets.
Pros:
-connection is solid (within 20 feet line of sight)
-volume is loud, both game sound and chat
-microphone appears to be clear. No complaints from other players yet.
-setup was quick and effortless
-good battery life. 6 hours on partial charge.
Cons:
-bass is really lacking. Even with the bass adjustment all the way up, the sound quality was mediocre.
-no tension adjustment. It is a tad too tight for my big head.
-volume adjustment is slow. If a troll comes along and starts blasting their mic, its quicker to rip off your headset.
-USB dongle blinks when not connected to device. (may annoy you when not using the headset) Edit: it blinks for about 30 seconds and then stops blinking.
If these were $100 headphones, I'd be a bit more forgiving. But to market these as the top of the line Platinum headsets, it makes me wonder why I spent the extra $80 over the Golds. It's not THAT much better.
As for connection issues, I have not experienced any. Walking 20 feet away is fine until you pass by a wall. Then it drops out completely. Upon re-entering the connection zone, it reconnects and no input is required from the user. Same thing when turning the unit on. Just turn on and it connects to the first remote that is connected.
The USB dongle has a blue light that shines solid when connection is acquired. It blinks when no device is found. A little annoying when you don't want to use the headset and leave the dongle in.
The ear cups slide up and down on the band. The band itself doesn't change length. This is the first headset that I owned with such mechanism.

Don't miss out on this headset! A must have headset. This is my second headset from Sony. My original headset broke and wanted to get another. I went through few headsets and was not satisfied with them. I heard about this headset a month before it came out and i waited for it. I am very happy i did. This headset is comfortable, long battery life and the sound is awesome!

For my first headset that are not the originals that come with the console, they are not bad, and you get good sound quality, the range is not that great, and when connected to the controller I can only hear from one ear, not sure if there is some tweaking I need to do or if its just what happens when connected to the controller. They're pretty comfortable even for a person that wears glasses like me.

Bought this headset for my bf. He loves that it's wireless and has minimal accessories. The audio on this is amazing too. No outside noise interference. The quality of the headset is also very good for the price point. We started with the gold headset and upgraded to platinum. His 1st platinum headset USB dongle broke so he decided to try the astro brand. He liked the astro brand but didn't like all the cables and we agreed the quality for the price point was lacking. Repurchased the platinum!

These are a replacement for the Gold headphones which were flimsy plastic and eventually broke. The Platinum cans are metal and unlikely to break. They have the same great surround sound, and the mic is perfect for game chat.

I just love these headphones...The fit is perfect not to big. The ear cushions are comfortable. You can adjust the headphones to fit your head and it has bass boost that makes the sound feels like your in a movie theater. The headphones last me at least a week if you only use a few hours a day.. if you use more you may have to charge every few days.. Charging time is a couple of hours but it’s worth it

Very good wireless headset. Comfortable on the ears and the top is made of aluminum or light metal. This makes the set more durable and won’t crack like the gold edition. Very nice sound.

Easy to install, great fit and amazing sound. Can use the availible presets from the app, or adjust yourself to your preference. Sound is clear and crisp with deep bass. Build is strudy and does not feel cheap. Battery lasts 6-8 hours on a single charge. Bluetooth signal is strong and has not dropped a connection since purchase. Can also use the included 3.5 mm Jack to hook up to other devices. Excellent buy

Even though 3D audio is only offered for a few first party titles, the rest of the headset experience is even nicer than my now deceased first generation Gold headset. Build quality is much improved and the 10mm larger drivers make for considerably better bass below 50hz. Worth the extra money over the Gold generation two? Can't say. But comfort is better, sound field is spherical now and bass is improved. I'm happy that I purchased them.

I came from the PS Gold headphones to a Turtle Beach set and now to these. They sound great, look great, and are very comfortable. Heck, I would place the Gold PS headphones higher than the Turtle Beaches.

I received this headset as a gift and was skeptical as I had been previously looking at the Gold series and wasn't sure the bump in cost was warranted. After using these and after testing the Gold version there are a few things that are better in this model. The cups are incredibly comfortable and the headset feels lightweight. I was able to play for several hours with no noticeable fatigue in my neck or discomfort on my ears.
Overall these sound better than the Gold version. That's just an opinion but I feel as if I'm able to make out distinct sounds better. They're really helpful in Dead by Daylight in hearing when a killer is nearby.
I managed to mute the sound of party chat without realizing it. I had no idea how to fix it until I ... read the instructions. Yea, definitely read the instructions ahead of time so you know what button is doing what.
This headset is a good choice for a casual gamer. It ticks all of the right boxes.

sound it crisp and clear the only thing negative I have to say is that range or not facing directly at it seems to be an issue. could be just my house or other electronics throwing it off idk, but from 15ft away I should be able to turn from the living room to go get some water in the kitchen without them going haywire and losing signal. other than that good set. stays charged.

So I want to start this with saying they sound REALLY good. A lot of youtubers would say these aren’t as good as any Hyper X headphones. I think that’s such a lie. They sound the same with a few more perks over the Hyper X. One major perk for me is I own the Xbox one, switch and PS4. And I don’t want to have a pair of headphones for each. That is just too much money. These have the 3 pin headphone jacks to them and connect to any console. Headphones and mic work. There is a downgrades from the old premium headphones for the PS3. I used those for years and years. These headphones are not powered. The power is only to make them wireless. No amplification at all like the old ones. The bass is better, more clear. Not as simulated as the old ones. Biggest con is, if you have your WiFi router near by, you get dropped sound like CRAAAZY. So keep them away from your router.

I bought this headset mainly for the 3D audio, which I do like a lot. These are not as comfy as the Sony Golds but I do like them. Good fit around the ears, but the band across the top can start to hurt after long sessions. They sound great though. Happy I have them.
