I gave my daughter and family this as a Christmas gift. She posted on Facebook that it was the best gift ever. We played on Christmas day and just had a blast. So much fun. So realistic that my daughter's boyfriend dropped to his knees when the game put him on a cliff.

I had a chance to play VR about 2 years back (2016) on the Oculus Rift-- right before it was hitting the market-- and the experience I had was HORRIBLE. It caused me a terrible amount of motion-sickness, and I had basically vowed within myself that "Yeah, VR is not for me... I'm out."
Fast forward to today, and there's a number of VR sets that have leapt out into the playing field: the HTC Vive, Google Daydream, and the Samsung Gear (just to name a few). But the big one that I kept hearing about: Playstation VR. As an enormous Playstation fan in general (I have over 300+ games on my PS4), I'd always contemplated trying out the PSVR. Not as much for seeing if I'd like the VR, but more in terms of being able to say as a fan, "I've tried that." However, with no retailers within a 100 mile radius from me offering the 'Playstation VR Experience,' then combined with the $249 price point for the holidays, and after constantly thinking about it for months (lol), I opted to just pick it up and try it out. What did I have to lose?
To be honest, I was hesitant to try out VR again given my prior experience. But at the same time I was excited to see someone like Sony (who really knows about gaming) giving a try at this new technology, because if anyone had a shot of nailing it: it was Sony. And let me tell you the PSVR is easily, for all intents and purposes, the best VR headset I've ever used. Needless to say: I'm keeping it!
It's impressive because setting it all up on your system is fairly simple. Sure, there was a bit of trial-and-error I had to do in terms of adjusting and angling the camera so that it would point in the right spot; but in general it was super easy.
I got the Beat Saber and Borderlands 2 bundle, and I must say, I think those two games are wonderful as a start point to VR. Beat Saber is essentially Guitar Hero, but using a l̶i̶g̶h̶t̶beat saber to slice and dice the notes coming your way. Then with Borderlands 2, it's a super polished game, and a great way to try first-person shooters in VR.
I also picked up both AstroBot: Rescue Mission and Moss. AstroBot plays a bit like a 3D Mario game (say Mario64 or Galaxy), but the main difference being that you use your head to change the view (camera), and then control your character within that space. Moss is similar, but doesn't have the same fluidity of movement. It's more of a game where you move you character to a place, and then manipulate the world around him in order to progress further... A lot more puzzle-based!
On paper, these things don't sound too dazzling, but these two games seriously redefined gaming for me.
After Playstation's E3 event last year, it seems that the company is indeed doubling-down on the PSVR and putting more of an emphasis on getting new content to it-- which I'm super happy about! All in all, I'd say that the PSVR is totally worth it at the current price ($249). It's comfortable, it works well, and it looks like it'll be receiving a great deal of support down the line. Very excited to see what other amazing experiences it will have to offer in the future.

I have not been into all of the VR hype. However, this bundle was on a great discount; so, I thought I'd give it a try for Christmas. I've been blow away be many things. Beat Saber is a blast. Not very graphically complex, but very immersive. Borderlands 2 VR is good, but I did struggle with a bit a motion sickness with it.
I've also picked up Skyrim VR and Astro Bot Rescue Mission. I could spend hours just walking around Skyrim. The enemies feel so much larger and more intense. Less motion sickness with Skyrim VR than with Borderland 2 VR. Astro Bot Rescue is very cute and makes such clever use of VR. It's hard to believe that a platformer would work so well in VR.
There are some drawbacks. Yes, you're tethered to your console. Yes, the screen resolution in the VR headpiece could be a bit better, but overall... this is well worth the money I paid for it.

I wasn’t sure how well sony’s psvr system would be in terms of an immersive experience or just plain fun. I never found a place with a free demo. After purchasing, I started by trying some free games and demoes offered at the online PlayStation store and the demo disk that came with this set and...Wow!!! You really feel like you’re inside an entirely different world once you put on that headset. At times I forget I’m sitting in my living room. Some of the really fun demoes were Astro Bot, Spider-Man, Rush of Blood, Allumete, and Battlezone, to name a few. There are also a lot of VR/360 videos on YouTube. Check out Google Shorties. I tried Beat Saber a few days ago and it’s a blast. My whole family plays together. Tried Borderlands just today and it was awesome being able to run around in that world.
I got the bundle on sale for $250. Based on all the free content and large selection of games available to buy for the psvr, plus the Beat Saber and Borderlands games and the Move controllers that are included - I think it’s a great deal. Paying that much for a system that lets you immerse yourself into a different world is really worth it.
You do have to worry about motion sickness with some games but it gets better as you play more and get used to it.
Overall, it’s just a great immersive experience. I feel like a kid again. It’ll save me a bundle since I’ll no longer have to take the family to Universal Studios for their virtual reality rides. It’s a shame how expensive theme parks are. I can get a similar experience at home and no waiting on lines :)

User Beware

I had only experienced VR for a very brief period before purchasing the PS VR unit. In my hour or so long period, I had no issues and thought it was a lot of fun.
In playing Borderlands, a game that has a lot more movement than the demo game I had played previously, I found out that I suffer from motion sickness for anything more than 45 minutes of a game that is more motion based.
Beyond this issue, I thought it was a great way to get into VR at a fair price (purchased on sale for $250). Only complaint is set up. I found it to be way more challenging than it should be to set it up. Too many cords.

So VR is a couple years deep and is getting better each day. For people that have no idea about VR it basically gives you the freedom to do anything and everything with virtually no risk. travel to the wild west. battle in ancient wars. drive super-cars at over 200 mph. the list goes on and on. Some games will induce dizziness and disorientation so be careful and give yourself space.

I avoided getting this system when it was first released because I wasn't sure how committed Sony was to VR. After reading reviews, and checking out the PSVR game library(over 200 games!), I decided to give in and buy one. I originally purchased this bundle for $350, but 2 days later the price was reduced to $250. Bestbuy came through with excellent customer service and refunded me the difference. As for the system itself, I love it. My whole family loves it. Borderlands 2 is great(still getting use to the controls), and Beat Saber is fantastic. Again, there are a ton of games to choose from. I've spent a small fortune to build my gaming library, and I've only had it for 2 days. I thought this was a great value at $350, but it's an amazing deal at $250. I highly recommend getting this.

A great way to enjoy the PS4. Unlike other VR devices in the past, this one is engrossing. Gameplay is well done. You can play non-VR games on it with a virtual screen, although the quality isn't quite as good as a TV for these. The only drawback is that the headset is a bit too tight and it can be easy to scratch the lens.

I did really like my PS VR. I got it mostly for FPS gaming, but I really couldn't get the controls down in the few games I tried. I also couldn't play it that often - I didn't like the fact that you basically are tuning everyone out when you put the headset on. I also have a 1 year old son at home who LOVES wires, so there was no chance to play when he was awake. I am a bit of a graphics snob and the PS VR does not match the graphic quality I was used to with the PS4 Pro. It was VERY cool though, I would recommend it to a friend. I ended up getting a Oculus Go and I am happy with that purchase, its really easy to get in and out of, no wires, and it is perfect for media viewing.

I thought the PSVR would be a gimmick but I once I was able to try it at a friends house I quickly realized this was no gimmick. The headset is comfortable. The graphics look great and the immersion is a whole new way to play. The only con is is there are a lot of wires. Hoping Sony can figure out a wireless solution for the next generation version. My only regret is that I waited so long to try the PSVR out and get one.

i went to a VR cafe in New York and had a blast. learned a bit about the different systems , (they along with most others use the HTC vive)
asked the dude what he recommended and ps4 was not at the top of his list.
Mostly because he fears development will eventually stop as another hardware/platform takes over the market.
I bought one anyway. I also bought an Oculus go. (winner by far)
My personal opinion after purchasing anyway;
I learned there’s a big difference between the PS4 PRO vs non pro. Non pro graphics kind of suck. It’s hard to have a genuine “vr experience” when the graphics are wack
Also, the headset seems to never fit snug. light is always coming in on the bottom adding to the annoyance of the experience already not being HD.
The wires are a pain.... no where for them to go so you’re constantlt obstructed by them.
I was pretty disappointed.
The oculus go is wireless, seems to have better graphics, and although not so driven by games it seems, the apps are very cool.
Also you can access VR via browser (incase anyone wants to try adult VR. it’s def worth a try LOL)
at the same price, oculus has no tracking which means you have to use it while stationary. your head and controller will move you around but the system does not recognize you walking moving etc.
hope this helps!

I bought this and a PS4 and games which I had never played before for entertainment for my grandsons coming to visit in a couple of months. I followed directions and videos and I was able to install this unit by myself which is great because I’m technologically challenged.
I’ve had a blast playing the games and thoroughly enjoy the unit.
