Got this as a gift for my friend whose previous player broke. A highly underrated aspect of the player is its ability to run apps natively. For those with older smart/no apps on their tvs who don't own a console, this can be a huge blessing. For instance, my friend's Hulu was super slow through his older tv, despite having great internet, and this player has remedied that issue. As typically the case, hard to go wrong with Sony electronics when the price is reasonable.

Bought this on the advice of my cousin who said something like, "they're not going to be making DVD players much longer." I think he's right so ... The unit was reasonably priced and performs well on DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Has streaming capabilities as well for a limited number of services (Netflix, Prime Video, etc.) but not all. Very pleased with the purchase. If you have a DVD/Blu-ray library you'll want one.

Great product with a great name behind it ! Sony blu ray players have been my choice and this one didn’t disappoint . Plays great looks amazing. Would give 5 stars but Mavericks jet was glitching. Hoping it was just the disk .

Really nice Blu-Ray player. Works great on 4K discs as well as the other formats. Upscales regular DVDs so they look much sharper. . Loads discs quickly. I haven’t tried streaming since I use an Apple TV 4K device. Best DVD player I’ve ever owned!

Did a lot of homework on 4K Blu Ray before buying this one. It boots fast, so far has read every DVD, BLU Ray, BLU RAY 4K that I have thrown at it.....that is the most important item for me. The Picture and sound reproduction is great as expected. It comes with an HDMI cable which is rare now....but I did replace it with a longer one. All in all Sony has done a nice job on this unit. It will serve your purposes.

This one is not as good as my Sony UBP 800M2, but it's not too far off the mark. It plays native 4k discs perfectly, and it does an very good job at upscaling 1080p blu rays, so that a good thing. It doesn't have a Bluetooth connection, and it's not quite as vibrant in HDR playback as the 800M2, but I feel like it's good enough for what you're paying, so I'll give it a 4 star rating.

I'm in love with this player. Seriously. I'd run away with it anywhere. Having been bitten in the past by Sony, I reluctantly bought the X700 thinking "what could go wrong?" I do not regret this decision. I'm experiencing movies at home like I never have before. As I sit here, I'm counting the pores on Bilbo's hand as he hides The One Ring in his pocket. Darks are darker, colors are brighter, and all of it is simply pristine. The speed of the unit is superb.

This is a great Blu-ray DVD player that matches perfectly with my Sony Bravia TV. For most functions, the remotes are interchangeable, which makes it much easier when you have multiple remotes it has a very slim profile and fits easily into tight spots.

Really impressive player at a GREAT price! I actually got this as open box excellent.

A descent player, enough features for my purpose. Easy to install. Nice compact size.
