I’m just glad that it supports 3D movies! I have a 3D TV and my Samsung 3D Blu-ray player broke and I thought oh man there goes my 3D watching because I didn’t see any Blu-ray player that supports or says it supports 3D movies. I’m happy to say that this one does, it doesn’t advertise it on the box but the manual says it does and I tested it. Works fantastic! Now I hope my TV keeps working I love my 3D movies!
Only thing I thought was weird was no panel display-at all! Weird! I’ve only seen low budget DVD players without front panel displays as this is not a cheap priced player. Can’t tell the time of the movie you really can’t do anything manually only using the remote control. So don’t lose the remote control! Although I believe there is a way to use an app for it but not sure. So will give it a 3 star for that.

Disc play performance is great for both 4k Ultra video and sound. Quick setup, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos enabled
At this price point, I would totally recommend this player. If you want better, you’ll pay at least double.

We love that this can playregular dvd's as well as the Blu-rays. The remote is great and can control the tv volume. Only need the 1 repomte to operate.

Purchased this UHD player a couple weeks ago, and have been very happy with the purchase. The player is very quiet, and loads discs very quickly. Have watched several UHD and normal Blu-ray Discs without any problems. The picture and sound are fantastic, and can highly recommend this player.

Works great... Once you figure it out! Trying to figure out how to use it is another matter all together! "Picture only" instructions just don't get the message across.

This Sony player does what it is suppose to do. It comes with the player, remote, and one 4K HDR cable. Everything works. Movies look great on my 4K HDR TV! Nice upgrade from 1080p SDR Blu-ray players. It has apps for viewing additional content and offers screening mirroring.

Bought this to replace a 7-year old Sony BD player. Nothing wrong with the old one except it wouldn't play 4K and SACDs.
Setup was a breeze. Picture quality to the TV is great. So far I have played 4K, regular BD, and SACD disks. They all played flawlessly.
Hi MachelleT, Thanks for the 5-star rating! We're glad you like your new Blu-Ray player. Enjoy and thanks for choosing Sony. -Craig

The unit has a tendency to not work. Example: i have to unplug it for it to turn on sometimes. It needs to reboot or something. Otherwise, when it does work, everything is good. The quality of the picture is clear and the sound is good. This one is replacing a Sony unit as well and it did the same thing. Finally, it just quit working. Power would come on, but it wouldn't open up for a disc. So I got the new one to replace it. It's sleek looking and fits in with the rest of my system.

Excellent blu-ray player, was using my Xbox to play movies, but was having problems with studdering and other playback issues and this fixed it! Ultra 4K plays great. Worth every penny.
Awesome! We're thrilled that you are enjoying the picture quality of the 4K player. Thank you for choosing Sony!

Freezing and sound drop out problems

I already own a Sony UDP-X700 which I’ve had for two years now and has worked great. Today we decided that we wanted a second player for our other TV, so I immediately purchased this UDP-X700M (presumably an updated model, though right off it’s hard to tell what the differences are). Got it home, put in a movie to test it, and within 45 minutes of the movie, we’d had the audio drop out just for a second (but still noticeably) six times. Well, that’s not good, but maybe it’s the disc, so I put in another movie. It was fine for the first hour, but then it started freezing for several seconds at a time repeatedly. Geez. Ok, so I hadn’t watched either of those discs yet, so I put in a third movie that we’d watched on the other player without problems only a week or so ago. About 25 minutes in, we had an audio drop out, and ten minutes later, it started freezing. Ok, at this point, I’m pretty sure it’s the player.
I did a Google search on the issue, and found that this is a known problem with this model, both in the original and this updated version. Apparently I got lucky that I got a good one with my first one, because lots of people have these exact problems with it.
A few posts that I saw suggested that turning off network features would fix it, but you know what? No. I’m not going to gimp the features of what was not a particularly cheap blu-ray player just to work around problems that Sony should be fixing.
So tomorrow this player is going back to Best Buy, and I’ll be picking up either an LG or a Panasonic player (the other options they had), because I don’t have the time or patience to play Sony blu-ray player roulette and hope that I get another good one next time.

It has been a while since I upgraded my equipment. I bought a new tv and wanted to plug in blu-ray without using a converter. This purchase did the job with a very clear picture and opened up a whole lot of new features that were not available to me before. Very happy with the purchase.

Got this unit as an open box, it was missing the remote. Found my old Sony DVD remote worked with this device. For the 65% off a "new" device, this works great.

It plays my 4K Blu-ray discs. It was cheaper than the other models. It comes with its own 4K HDMI cable. Do NOT depend on using it as a streaming device unless you only watch Netflix or Hulu, but if you've ever bough a Blu-ray player from Sony, you already know that.
