It can connect to internet and become a "smart" tv. Allowing the use of an older tv with all the features of a new one through the players abilities.

The one thing I don't like is that you have to enable Dolby Vision in the menu to make it active when watching content that offer DV, otherwise it will basically upconvert all content (even stuff that technically does not offer DV). First world problem, but would be nice if the player could recognize DV and do it automatically.

Whereas it's counterpart both logged out of apps and froze often when watching a DVD or blu-ray, this particular item has never malfunctioned yet.

I already bought this model a couple of years ago. I was so impressed with it, that I just bought it for my mother's xmas present, and another for my mother-in-law! :-)

Only played one blu-ray disc and it played beautifully. I can't attest to how a 4K looks, but so far so good. What stinks is the 800M just went on sale. I would've bought that. It's just for the living room so no biggie.
