Great Blu-ray player

And the best part is that it automatically integrated with our sound bar where our old one never would. Picture quality is excellent as well.

A decent player with issues

It even has some issues with layer changes on regular Bluray discs. My experience has been either complete lockup of the player or it will freeze for a non-insignificant amount of time and skips ahead a few seconds or minutes. You'd think since this is a Sony player, the company who developed Blu-ray, they would be able to make a player without these issues. Outside of this, it outputs a great picture even with regular Bluray discs which it upscales. I wouldn't buy this unless it's heavily discounted.

Posted .Hi Reviewing, we are sorry to hear that the remote control for your player is not working properly as it should be, to make things better and turn this into a more positive experience, we would like to advise some troubleshooting steps to see if the issue corrects.
1- Reset your remote control, take the batteries out and press every button twice to discharge the unit, then put the batteries back in (make sure those are new batteries) and test.
2 - Power reset your player, you can unplug from the power and wait 2 minutes, plug it back in and test again
3- If you have an external audio device connected to the player like a sound bar or AV receiver, disconnect and verify if the buttons are working.

Posted .Hi Sony4k, thanks for the taking the time to share your experience with the Sony - UBP-X700/M. We are sorry to hear that the player is freezing on multiple movies and that you have to unplug it for it to work. This is not the experience we want you to have, here are some steps that can help you in resolving the problem:
1- Set the BD-ROM 24P Output to Off, you can go to Setup > Screen Settings > BD-ROM 24P Output > select off.
2- Make sure your player has the latest software version, by accessing Setup > Software Update > Update via internet
3- Perform a Factory Data Reset, again in Setup > Resetting > Reset to Factory Default Settings > All Settings > Start. Once completed you need to turn off the player and then turn it back on, and complete the initial setup.

You get what you pay for.

It has dolbyvision but you have to change the settings on the player on or off before playing a dolbyvision movie. Thats the annoying one. 2, it freezes on triple layer disks which is the inexusable one. We buy these to get superioir picture and sound above streaming and then we buy a data filled disk that highlights the difference between the two, it becomes unwatchable.
