Seems I have encountered the same issue as most of these folks with the freezing/skipping effect. Watching Top Gun it happened right about the time of Icemans death. Then I watched it again and it happened right before Maverick got shot down. Video and sound would skip and fast forwarding through it didn't work. Only shutting the player all the way off and back on helped. I tried 3 different 4k movies that I recently purchased. Jurassic World, Fury, and Top Gun and all had some sort of issue. I was thinking maybe a cable or the movie itself at first but the cable was fine with my previous blu ray player and the bad luck of 3 movies all skipping is probably extremely slim. Then I read reviews and it seems it's a popular issue with 4k players for some reason. I took it back to Best Buy for exchange of the same model(got it during black friday sale) so the price definitely would reflect well with a new one especially since they all seem to have some sort of issue. Hoping the new one works better when it comes in. Not so great for Sony but so far so good for Best Buy. Will update the review if the new player comes in fully funtional.

I have a 4K smart tv, so I don't need the streaming function. Most DVDs I watch are not Blu-Ray and it doesn't noticeably upscale them. I play CDs with it and the audio ports are HDMI or digital audio, so I had to buy a converter to connect RCA cables. Not a huge deal but an extra hassle that could be avoided with a couple ports on the back. And the track/ time/ whatever info for DVDs and CDs appears on your tv, not the unit, so the tv must be on when playing CDs.

It is compatible with other TV's, so I like that. Also, the remote control is very easy to use. It is intuitive and streamline. So happy about the remote control. Two thumbs up from me.

The box was in perfect shape but the DVD player didn't work. The supplied remote wouldn't turn it on, or eject the disc or anything. The remote did turn my Sony TV on and off though. I tried the DVD player on multiple TVs and no picture or sound. Returned and bought a different model.

It is giving us the capacity to play all three types of the newer DVD formats, which our old player could not. It is newer and better!

However the controller is too small and the buttons are easy to strike wrong button. Print is too small on controller even with glasses.

Plays like a charm, plus with the added Wi-Fi capabilities and built in Apps, its like a added smart tv. LOVE the 4K Ultra Resolution.

We expected the region free to work better. We ended up getting an x800 but both the delivery and the return were speedy.
