Really like this player, which replace an older failing Oppo. The features are simple and integrated well with my SamSun TV

As a lot of the reviews have noted, this player does have issues with at least DVDs and Blu rays. Glitches cause the playback to stop for a short period of time randomly. It didn't stick around with me long enough to notice if it did it for 4K movies since I still primarily watch dvds and blu rays, so this is a deal breaker. Given the decent rating I was hoping I wouldn't have this issue but here we are... Currently trying the cheaper of the panasonic players (it was $400 when I got it so double this one). I've also tried the cheaper sony and it did the same thing. Seems you have to get expensive 4k players for them to work. Watched a couple of movies on the Panasonic and it had this issue once during one movie, so I'm not holding my breath, but I could tolerate if it's very rarely, but I can't justify getting any of the players over $500.. anyway, with this sony this issue was happening much more often. Do not buy..

Works flawlessly, quiet, and fast. As others have said the software on the Sony DVD players is different than what is on the Sony TV itself. The TV software has more options and is updated faster.

The 4k ultra HD & The Dolby Vision is extremely nice Amazing

So far not used often, but appears to work just fine. Only replaced older one to upgrade to UHD and ultimately 4K quality viewing. Can’t say anything against it except be aware this model does not come with connecting cable.

I have had quite a few DVD / Blue ray units in my time regardless of make or model and I have found this unit Sony Ultra HD blue-ray #UBP-X800M2 to match or exceed my prior units. 1) I found that the fast forward and slow motion mode functions exceeds my prior units by far and does not miss a segment while doing it.

Blu Ray is a good medium if you still have any discs, but streaming no seems to come in higher resolution. Also, there is no way to use this player to stream DSD digital audio of an SACD to a DAC, so pretty useless from that perspective. Eh. OK but not great.
