Why Buy?: If you’re streaming 4K content, your picture/sound quality can be degraded by compression. To fully experience 4K cinema technology, a 4K ultra HD Blu-ray player & disc will expand your AV horizons & maximize your enjoyment. Note: If your 4K TV doesn’t support Dolby Vision, then you won’t be able to enjoy the primary upgrade of this player. CDs) to near hi-res sound quality to emulate original recording. Cons: -Auto-Detection: No Dolby Vision (DV) or HDR10 auto-detection, which is annoying/cumbersome. Because player can’t auto-switch between DV & HDR10, based on content source, user must manually enter main menu to turn DV on for DV 4K disc & turn off after finishing disc. -Limited Streaming Apps: Not practical as main all-in-1 media player w/only 3 streaming apps (Netflix, Prime, YouTube) vs. prior Sony disc players. And no option to add streaming apps like Hulu, Vudu, Pandora, etc. -Storage: If any of your AV library is stored in the cloud, you’ll be unable to access your online content w/this player. -Dolby Atmos: Player lacks Atmos on Netflix, Amazon Prime, & YouTube vs. other players. Apps need to be updated. -HDR10+: Doesn’t support Samsung competitor’s HDR10+. -No Optical Port -Remote: Needs backlighting, especially when user is in dark home theater mode & player has no LED display. -Freezing: This player is prone to lockups/freezing, same as my previous Sony BDP-7200 Smart 3D Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player (w/UHD 4K Upscaling). When this occurs, the player can’t be turned off even via the power button. You’re forced to completely unplug & wait before plugging back in. This annoying, time-wasting delay has plagued multiple Sony Blu-ray players for yrs. & has still not be fixed.

I returned the first one because I have to unplugged so often due to software bugs make it stuck and won’t due anything. Second one almost similar problem but better. The reason I keep it because it plays all disc formats including sacd & dvdaudio. I just have to have it. Sony please fix this bugs

This is now the third one of these that I've had. When they work, they work great, but they stop playing any discs every few months. It's getting very frustrating.

Is there still such a thing? Yes there is and I bought it. If oftentimes can’t keep up with the data. Put your $40 towards some hung better.

The viewer in the Blu-ray player was not as good as I hoped, it has limitations and not a lot of adjustment

I returned item because it didn't completely mesh with my Samsung tv and sound bar.

The availability of 4K DVD players is next to mothing. Best Buy had one option in stock and only two products at all. The stock was limited and this was weeks before Christmas. Did all we could to reduce noise and electric current emissions between the player and TV to get the most out of the signal and image. The DVD player has skipped playing 4K DVDs. Would have returned it if there were other options.

It was ok, unfortunately I had to return it because it wasn't compatible with my tv and had some audio sync issues.

Disappointed of the graphics ( no lited indicators during usage(hello, loading, track#, time etc).

I purchased as an open box buy. It is clear it was returned and not fully inspected. It says it is connected to the internet and then when you try to go to Netflix it says "not connected would you like to connect". You reconnect and go through the continuous cycle. This happens on wired and wifi. It says it has the current firmware. I have read a few professional reviews. One said it was a great dvd player but yhe apps suck.

The worst experience ever on a DVD player, Bought two disc and both movies froze about 50 to 60 percent through the movie. I plan on returning and finding a new product. I have had Sony products in the past and was happy but this was the most expensive I have ever paid and tried the player one day after purchase and had issues with the player. Plays blue ray fine but freze on 4k the main reason for my purchase, Best buy better give refund or I will be very very upset.

I used it a hand full of times and it stopped working after 6 months. All the brands make such low quality products that it no longer makes sense to buy them. May as well just stream it. And for the record prefer Sony over LG and Samsung, so this isn’t a review I was planning to make. Save your money.

Disappointed the player doesn't have a display on the front of it.

Works for Dads, but only has three apps and no vudu. Had to trick through utube to get to our vudu account.

Even my Gilligan's Island DVDs look phenomenal. Dug 'em out after Dawn Wells passed away. Kept my Oppo player and put it in another bedroom. We all have a stash of plain old vanilla DVDs around the house. This player is worth purchasing just for that. Will upscale 720p to close to Bluray resolution. And make Bluray look better too; not up to 4K, don't let someone explain to you that these players can upscale to 4K. They cannot. You need to purchase a 4K disc to experience true 4K. AND, don't forget a better HDMI cable as well. So you're budget just went up another $100 or so. LOVE THIS PLAYER! Cheap (or inexpensive), $300 for this is a small admission price. No removable power cord is my only complaint. Have a few upscale cords I would have used on this piece. Most people today are out of the physical media game as streaming has become the biggest advancement. Plus you have to create space to store all your titles. But, pick up some 4K DVDs anyway and enjoy the best available tech to enjoy in your COVID free home. Then wait ten years when you replace this player with an 8K one. Lol

Player works as described. Just hoping Sony keeps the streaming apps up to date over time. Linking to network was clean and updates ran without a problem. Unit installed on Sony Bravia tv and recognized it out of the box.

Bought an open boxed unit any it didn't work. Had to send it back.

Sony doesn’t miss with this 4K UHD Player. One feature that I would ask to fix would be the option to select Dolby Vision as you need to switch it either ON/OFF. A small nuisance but overall a great piece of equipment.
