Does the job, but is far from perfect.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is essentially a refreshed / cutdown version of the old X700 by removing all irrelevant (mostly streaming) apps. The interface is clean and responsive for the weak chip it has. There can be freezing issues if you leave your blu-ray disk in the tray over the night. To solve that, simply eject the disk and then load it again. This is an annoying issue, though not a dealbreaker. This model still doesn’t support Dolby Vision auto-detect. However, most TV manufacturers can’t even implement DV correctly, and the dynamic metadata sometimes don’t have much effect for bright TVs (> 1000 nits). I always watch in HDR10 now, but Panasonic UB450 offers Dolby Vision auto-detect and might be cheaper on sale. So, if you want to buy a new blu-ray player, keep this in mind, and the UB450 might be a much better buy.

Excellent player, needs Ethernet connection

One point must be clarified, though. It does require an Ethernet connection for Internet access. In our case, it replaces a player which was also connected this way. But it does mean you need convenient access to your indoor router. The Internet connection is needed for updates to player software and updates to digital rights management.
