The Best Headphone Out There Today!!!!

This is one of my best Over-the-Ear Headphone ever! I have been using many brands over the past 20 years, from BOSE, JBL, Beats and Sennheiser. None of them came close to the SONY MDR1A/B. Which covered all areas from comfort, quality and sound produced. Most of the brands out there are either too amplified to where the sound are not real and natural anymore! All the Bluetooth headphone are too muffled, no clarity what so ever! The SONY MDR1A has the clarity, the high are natural silk, not hash, very pleasant to the ears, even at high volume. The Mid are also clear clean, no hash and bass are awesome, realistic not over amplified nor distorted, I'm not a big fan of Bass, so this is just perfect for me. I noticed I had to lower my volume using this headphone to almost two notches, due to the sensitivity at 105dB. I heard sound that I never heard it before, so clean and natural! I connected to IPOD/IPAD/IPHONE all have same results, best of all is my RIO KARMA, the sound is amazing way better than any apple products out there!!! The headphone is light weighted, I wore it for over three hours without feeling anything. This is true amazing headphone to own! Would buy another one if I needed! Recommend to all music lover out there young or old! SONY rules!!!

I don't know that I'd call the Sony MDR-1A a "perfect" headphone because quite frankly I doubt that such an animal exists. And even if it did I'm pretty sure I couldn't afford it or even justify the cost. While I DO like to enjoy a variety of different headphones I have a modest budget and I try to stick within it, usually purchasing products when I find an excellent price. This has been the case with my purchase of this fine headphone. I purchased the international version of the MDR-1A from an e-merchant on Sunday August 21, 2016 at 8:00 PM and they arrived from Hong Kong on Wednesday around 11:00 AM. Obviously I haven't had enough time to burn them in and I do expect for the sound to change a little bit as I wear them more and more but they sound terrific right out of the box. I just can't find any serious fault with these headphones. They are quite attractive in an understated way, a simple black with just the right amount of flash from the addition of the red banding around the ear cups. The Sony Logo is well done, also. But what really does it for me with these headphones is the superior comfort level when I put them on my melon. While un-boxing these for the first time I immediately noticed something a bit different with these headphones than any of my others. While the ear cups aren't any thicker than many others, they have a bit of a beveled contour to them which allows them to sit just perfect on your head. Furthermore, the cups swivel in just about every conceivable way upon your head so that they should fit just about anybody. I can see where it may be a bit of a challenge for those with smaller heads to get them to feel secure but this hasn't been an issue for me. They are extremely comfortable. I asked my wife if she could hear them while listening to music about as loud as I would ever listen and she told me that she could but that it wasn't loud outside of the headphones. So how do they sound? Well, as mentioned I haven't had them long enough to let them work their magic but in a nutshell, they sound really good. Being a closed back headphone I wasn't really expecting a great big sound stage but I find them to be more than adequate. Bass is punchy and very good driven with the Fiio E10K Portable DAC. I don't find it overly boomy like you'll hear with a Beats headphone, though I'd never buy such a headphone. The mid-range is nice and it will get better I'm sure as these open up. The top end is crisp and clear, I think overall this is a well balanced headphone. I try to buy different types of headphones rather than concentrating on hearing every product known to man, mainly due to budget concerns. My headphones range in MSRP between the range of $200-400 generally (that MSRP often times drops over time), although I try to hold off until I can score a better than average deal and for the $169 that I paid for these Sony cans I'd say I got a pretty good deal on a very nice pair of headphones. So should you buy them? I giggle every time I hear somebody ask "which one is better?" or "should I buy Brand X or Brand Z?" and it's not as easy to listen to all the various offerings in a day and age where the brick and mortar stores that carried these products have gone out of business, but if you are looking for a headphone in this price range then the Sony MDR-1A is a solid choice and you could do far worse. As for me, these are keepers!

I love these headphones. The sound quality is really great. Crisp clear sound. I use them when I'm playing a game with a really good soundtrack & occasionally for music (I use a speaker for music). The leather is really soft & comfortable. It does get a little warm, but it's nice when it's night lol. The carrying bag it comes with isn't big enough to close with the headphones in there, but it's still a nice addition. Plus two auxiliary cables which is great in case on breaks. I think this is an amazing product, I definitely recommend it.

I reviewed many headphones before deciding on the Sony. The positives are that the mid and highs are very clear and warm. You can hear what the musicians are doing, like tapping a cymbal or plucking the strings on a guitar. It is a warm sound though so it is not overly detailed. I would prefer more detail with the warmth. The bass is pretty good too. Bass is not as good in reproduction as the mids and highs but it does seem to fit together and blend well. For the price these headphones rock. I checked out all the other ones available at my local best buy magnolia and these destroyed the competition. They definitely sounded much nicer. They are pretty comfortable but for hours of listening it is nice to take a break before they start to feel uncomfortable on the top of your head. They never hurt but a break is needed. Pads are comfy and fit ears well. The only con I can think of is that not all music is equally reproduced as well. It seems songs with female vocals sound better than male vocals. All in all these headphones are amazing and from the others I have listened to that are in the price range these Sony's can't be matched. Happy listening!

These are wonderful headphones. The sound quality is very good and blocks out a lot of external noise. The phone chord it comes with it also an added bonus. I use them for video productions and they are working out great so far. The only thing that it could use is a longer chord so I could have a little more room to walk away form my equipment.

Would have given 5 stars if the cord were longer, it's simply too short for my needs, another foot of cord would be ideal. I have to use an extension and lose sound quality/experience static with the jumper cord. Quality build. Used for work and they are Incredibly comfortable and light weight, I wear them hours at a time without discomfort. Oh, and the sound ....incredible. Didn't need noise reduction so the absence of that feature is no problem for me.

I needed a set of headphones to use with my computer and my other headphones crapped out. Time for a upgrade! My needs were as follows. 1. Comfortable. 2. Good sound (to me). 3. Closed back because I would be listening and gaming at night. 4. Wired... keeping it simple. I went to Fry's to see what they had to offer. I was shocked to find that it is getting hard to find wired headphones. I was also disappointed that most could not be listened to prior to purchase. The next stop was best buy and they had some headphones that I tried and the Sony's were very comfortable, wired, and sounded GREAT! The clarity I found amazing. I purchased them and I am happy with the sound.

I auditioned many different headphones and found these Sony Hi-Res Headphones to be a good match for the sound experience I was looking for. My budget was $200 and got these on sale for $199.99 vs $299.99. The price was right. They are very comfortable and look cool. They are not boomy like many of Sony's XB Headphones. I use them with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and this combo is real sweet.

Before I bought these headphone I had the audio technica m50's. They were a good headphone but I wanted better sound. After reading reviews I chose the MDR1a's. I love these headphones. They sound great for music, movies, and gaming. The sound signature is not neutral like it is with the technica's but I like that because the sound is rich and fun. If you want a set of headphones that are neutral sounding then go with the technica m70's but if you want a great sounding, mid-level, all around headphone you will not be disappointed with the MDR1a

I have several different kinds of headphones and airpods and nothing compares to the sound quality from these when listening to music. I read a ton of reviews first and these were very highly rated and do not disappoint. Plus I got them on a Deal of the Day so I couldn't pass up the price. Get them, you won't regret it.
