The Sony MDR-X05 headphones offer quality sound that is comparable to the sound you find in recording studios. I have a professional keyboard and these headphones give me the sound that other headphones can't. They sound far better than they did in the store and I attribute that to the fact that they have it set to demo only one song. Anyone who wants a pair of headphones at a reasonable price with the quality sound that the MDR-X05's offer should demo them. You cannot beat the balanced sound quality, the fit which is unique to each individual, comfort, and the ability to customize the sound with your MP3 player if it supports that, along with the ability to use it with not just the iphones as the packageing lists, buy most smartphones, and even game consoles. I listened to every pair of headphones out and while I initially preferred wireless, I was completely disappointed in every wireless pair I listened to. Yes, a FM Tuner and Bluetooth would be nice to have but I would rather have a pair of headphones that fit me well, balanced sound quality unlike some others that are bass heavy, are comfortable and have the additional features I mentioned above. I can say I did not find any of the things I was looking for in any of the other headphones like Dr. Dre's Beats. They are definitely overated. For anyone looking to puchase a pair of headphones, I would definitely recommend the MDR-X05's. The sound quality for the price you cannot beat and while some of the reviews don't speak positively to the durability of these headphones, I can tell you durability is not an issue. I am very hard on certain products and headphones would be one of those products. It's not intentional at all and I have to say that while they may not appear to be durable they are actually extremely durable. I'm sure with the soft protective case and throwing them in my backpack they will last me a long time. I definitely cannot complain about these headphones and am very pleased with my purchase. *Note: If I had to purchase a different pair of headphones that were comparable to the MDR-X05's, I would recommend the Bose® SoundTrue™ Around-Ear Headphones. Bose®, like Sony has a solid reputation and Bose has always made products that had quality sound. They are more expensive because they are Bose® and the fit was so different that I would not have been able to wear them. If the MDR-X05's do not have a good fit for you, then I would definitely try the Bose® SoundTrue™ Around-Ear Headphones. I hope this review helps anyone who is looking to purchase good quality sounding headphones at a reasonable price.

I got these headphones for $50 during a sale. As far as price, I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, the headphones started to have issues with the wire. I needed to manipulate one wire in order to deal with static. Overall, the headphones sound amazing. Awesome, rich, deep bass. Good mids, and highs. I was able to turn these up without getting any distortion. My only dislike aside from the static issue was the double sided cords. I wish it only had one cord on one side, versus two. It would also be nice if the cord was detachable. These are light weight too. They're comfortable to wear for extended periods. They also fold up to store very easily in a bag, backpack, suitcase, etc.

I bought these to do some outside work and also for the gym. They do block out a lot of outside sounds, but not everything. The earphones themselves are comfy and cushy, but that can get sweaty after some time outside. I feel like the headband part is a bit too tight, so during extended wear I get a slight headache. The sound is pretty decent. The price is also decent compared to other brands of headphones.

These headphones are great. The soft inverted cushions is what I need for my sensitive earlobes while wearing glasses. The sound is good but the bass is a bit heavy. The look of it is really nice and cool looking. The wires are nice and slim-wide so that it doesn't tangle, however, I wish it was longer!

I got these as a skeptical step up from the Bose IE2 (in-ear) headphones. I loved my Bose, and believed performed almost as well as most bulky on ear headphones. I was ready to compromise a chunkier set to get deeper bass, and started shopping for comfortable, and not overly bulky cans. Ive heard from many that beats are very unbalanced sound wise, so i steered clear of those. i looked up reviews for these cans and everybody seemed to love them. I bought them one month ago and absolutely love them. these are great for any style of music, and offers a good amount of noise cancellation due to the very squishy, soft ear pads. the only downside is using them on a hot day because they do trap a lot of heat in your ears. overall, happy

These headphones are great for road trips because you can drown out conversations and really listen to your music un-interrupted. If you like bass then these are what you need to check out. They are just all around great for the price, comfort & sound.

We gave these headphones as a Christmas gift to our son who is a college student. He LOVES them. The sound is amazing, and the bass is very clear. These fit great, are durable, and are great for a students on the go lifestyle.

I tried all the headphones at my local Best Buy, even unplugging their dumb stock music and plugging into my iPhone to get a better test experience (the sales people loved that). These were by far the best overall sound, even better than the upgraded model. The only downside is they are a bit uncomfortable after about an hour of listening. But they dampen outside sound as much as a powered sound dampener, which was unexpected and impressive. For 1/2 the price of the competitors, you can't go wrong. I like heavy bass and these are HEAVY BASS. These are perfect for all genres, but particularly electronic, hip-hop, etc.

I have tried so many types of headphones. From Bose to Beats. I have not been able to find a blend of sound and comfort until the Sony. With its Sweet highs clear Mids. And non-insulting lows it covers the full spectrum of my music. When I ache for some thundering lows, the kind that you can feel. these product well. When i am listening to Jazz, the sound is very clean. The comfort of the headphones are probably the best I have ever tried. but because of the way that the cushions are designed, they can get a little warm after about 30 min or so. Over all... Great pair of headphones!

I tried the beats studio, they sounded pretty good but then I looked at the sony x series. The x-series are a whole lot better on sound, I love the base, the comfort, and the durability of it. If you got the money these are the headphones to buy.

This was on sale for $70. It sounds as good as other headsets that are $100-200. You can hear all pitches though these headphones. They are fairly light and very comfortable to wear. Great for drowning out the noise of your screaming children (kidding--but would definitely work) or for use on a long flight. They also cancel out a lot of ambient noise.

These headphones are a great value, even better since I lucked out and found them on sale, and you dont have to take out a loan to get them. Obviously, they aren't top of the line, but sound quality is great, great bass, they're comfortable, and sturdy. My 10 year old uses them nearly everyday and they're holding up great. Excellent purchase.

These are really nice headphones for acoustic music and jazz. The bass may be a little over the top for pop music though. Not accurate, but lots of punch. Very comfy fit. Overall I like it!

GOOD: Excellent comfort, especially for on-ear (supra-aural) headphones. Attractive design. Decent sound. Incredible value - probably the best $50 headphones I have ever owned. BAD: Build quality feels rather cheap for its original pricing of over $150. The bass could use more detail, but it is not weak.

I needed something comfortable, good looking, great sound quality which is extremely important to me and also be able to use with my iPhone if I got calls. These headphones gave me everything I was lokking for at a price that was incredible.

I got these headphones on sale and I LOVE them! They're very portable and have great quality sound. They're pretty good at canceling surrounding noise and are very comfortable. I would highly recommend :)

I'm not an expert on headphones but from the research I did Sony is the best bang for your buck and comparing them personally with all the ones in store, they are the best. Good bass, crisp sound, and comfortable. The only thing that could make them better is if they were bluetooth.
