    WOW!

Wow! I first have to say that this is the first review I have ever written and actually went through the process of making an account just to write this. I went to best buy with the full intention of buying a pair of beats by dre but I was really unimpressed by the sound quality and even quality of bass especially on the lower end models. As I tried on headphones after headphones I was continually unimpressed and almost settled for a pair of bose; however I am a big fan of hip hop so I wanted a deeper and clearer bass sound so I kept searching. When I first picked up the Sony's I put them back down because the feel of the ear cups almost feels like an on ear design which I didn't want. I actually went back through all the headphones again before finally putting these on and OMG! As soon as I put these on my ears just sunk into the headphones perfectly and I was blown away by everything about these! The bass is amazing, the higs and mids are great, and they are the most comfortable headphones I tried on. The only question was whether to buy these or the x10 model. I didn't notice much of a difference between the two other than the size with these being a bit smaller. Both of the headphones are absolutely amazing and I can honestly say if all the headphones in the store were the same price I would've still bought these without any hesitation! If you don't believe me just walk into best buy and try them on for yourself. If you are a hip hop fan and are looking for beats please just try these on for yourself there isn't even a comparison! If I had to complain about something it would be that there is a small leakage of sound when listening on really high volumes but that is being very nit picky.

Very Nice pair of headphones for the price

other than not having a removable cord, these sony's have pretty nice sound all the way around but could be less aggressive on the lower frequencies for me since producing music with these is not so great thanks to the more sensitive bass reproduction... for hip-hop and dub step listeners these headphones will satisfy. i got these because they were on sale for 80.00 and they were a steal ! as far as comfort, these are ok as long as you give your ears a break every hour or so since they tend to get a little hot and uncomfortable when wearing for more than an hour. I was thinking about getting a pair of studio beats but honestly for $300.00+ i would much rather get a tablet or something that is worth the money since with beats you are mainly buying the brand and not the quality of sound since you could get yourself a better sounding pair for less $. would give them the 5 stars if it weren't for the the nondetachable cord

This is a great set of cans!

I have several Dre Beats cans, from Solo to Studio, so I was not in the market for a new set. I recently received a gift card for Best Buy, so I decided to look around the site to see if I could pick up something relatively cheap. I happened upon the Sony MDRX05 and I liked the styling, plus the high ratings that most purchasers have given them. It was on one day sale at almost half off the regular price so I thought, why not? If I don't like them, I can give them to my son and I will not be out a lot of money. When I received them, I was immediately impressed by the styling cues. Plus they had a sturdy/quality feel to the material. They were comfortable over the ear and the non-tangle cords were functional. It was when I plugged them into my Samsung Note 3 and played the first track, that I decided these were the cans for me. I listen to a lot of R&B and Rap songs, and it was love at first song. the Bass was deep and rich sounding, the highs and mids were adequate without the metallic ting sound. My son gets the Solos and I will keep these. MUST BUY!

    Outstanding Quality Headphones

These headphones are by far the best I've ever owned for non-console gaming purposes (might want to go with Turtle Beach, Triton or Astro for that). The sound quality is mind-blowing, and they are comfortable enough to wear for hours on end. I've had them for a couple of months now and they show no signs of wear and still are as flexible and durable as they were the day I took them out of the box. The headphones are a little pricey, but I feel they're much more valuable than the competition which charges 50 dollars more for something that's essentially the same. The only complaint I have is the length of the cord. If you're going to pick these up, you may want to invest in a 3.5mm cord extender of some kind. I don't need it for my purposes, but the length of the cord made me very nervous at first. The inline remote makes this perfect for use on my iPad Air and iPhone 5, but doesn't feel obtrusive when I'm using it on devices that aren't compatible with it.

    A great pair of headphones

I'll go ahead and get the con out of the way; They look great - But they are made of plastic made to look like metal. I don't really have a problem with this - But, I just exchanged a pair of Sony Pulse Elites for this pair. The Pulse Elites have a major problem with cracking due to the poor strength of the plastics they use. This made me hesitant getting this pair. Now that the con is out of the way; These things sound great. If you like Bass...that's what you'll get. Not only that, the mids and highs sound great too. If you want a pair of headphones that look great and sound good too - This pair might have your name on it.

These Headphones are great. The sound is amazing and the style is very fashionable. There are no batteries needed and they are noise cancelling. The only problem I had with them was that after about an hour of use they began to hurt but once you readjust they feel fine.

    Great for Plane rides

These were the most comfortable noise cancelling headphones I've ever worn. The best part is I got them on sale, so the volume control issue with my android didn't matter at that point. I had a few plane rides that I used them on and slept easily without any discomfort. Usually I don't even fall asleep on the plane with my earphones in because they weren't comfortable.

    Poor Sound Quality

    Posted .

Being a bass head, I wanted some cans with plenty of bass, but also clear crisp highs, and warm mids. The X05s did not deliver. Yes, they do have booming bass, but it's muddy and drowns out the vocals. The highs seemed pitchy to me, and I barely noticed the mids due to the muddy bass. For $150 you can get much better (like the Audio Technica ATH-M50). So I will return them, and continue my search for a good bass headphone with good sound quality. And like everyone else says, they scratch easily as well.

I listen to a lot of different types of music and enjoy watching movies on my mac. These sound good but hurt my ears really bad after a while. It may be important to note that I have my helix pierced in both ears. I am looking for comfort and these aren't it, therefore I am considering a pair of Sennheiser over the ear headphones.
