If you grew up watching the Anime, you'll love this movie. The basic premise is the same, but the aliens are different. My only complaint is that they didn't use the US names in the dubbed version.

21st century reboot of '74 TV series known in America as "Star Blazers". Fantastic CGI demands that this film be seen on the largest screen possible. If you're a fan of the recent "Battlestar Galactica" reboot you will love the hell out this film! Make sure you watch the end creds for a special bonus song by Steve Tyler of Aerosmith.

Bought this because my wife was a huge fan of the anime Starblazers as a kid, but this is surprizingly an enertaining romp. What it does for me personally is give great hope for a live-action Robotech film!

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this movie, it a faithful rendition of the original anime from back in the day. If you loved the series, this is a must watch for fans of the series!

this is a live action version of space battleship yamato - bit of a story difference from the animated series ....audio is japanese with subtitles or you can switch to english audio.

I enjoyed the film. Thought it was comparable to starship troopers, maybe a little lower budget. Dialog may work better if you understand Japanese, sometimes things are lost in translations.

For any of you that watched the anime from series 2 movies through the years this is a must-have.While The story has been altered a bit it still feels as if the characters have come to life from the anime.The computer graphics are very well done as well and do not disappoint

Cool visuals. They tried to compress plot elements from different Yamato animated films into one. 1st series main plot with the ending from Arrevidercci Yamato

If you are a fan of the TV show or a fan of Japanese sci-fi, I would highly recommend this movie. I had a VCD copy of this movie, I was glad to see than a high quality transfer of this movie was released on Blu-ray. I would give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.

I love the movie. It reminded me of my childhood days. The only thing I did not like was they made shortcuts in the film... it should have been longer.

This is what so many have been waiting for, a live action movie of Star Blazers, the classic anime tv series.

This is a retelling of the first season of the old Star Blazers cartoon with elements and characters fron the second season added as well. Is it cheesy? Yes. Do the actors chew the scenery with great abandon? Yes. Is it fun to watch? Most definitely.

I have to say I remember this from my childhood. And to have the opportunity to watch this as a live action film was a unique experience. However as a whole it looked cool but it simply was not worth the wait. I have watched it once but I will probably have to circle through my entire collection of DVDs before this sees the inside of my blu ray player again

As a huge fan of the television sci-fi/ soap opera cartoon series from back in the 80's called "Starblazers". My jaw dropped, to see they made a live action film. Couldn't wait to see it. Some changes in the characters, a little rushed in the storyline but the special effects were very reminiscent of the TV show. I would love it if they did it Hollywood style. Would look forward to part 2. Recommend for true fans of original show.

Bought this thinking it was the Animated Classic! it is still a fun Movie to watch especially if you have a great Home Theatre System!

Live action anime indeed this movie has some cool visual effects and is definitely a lot like it's anime/manga counterpart

I had my doubts about it, but I saw some trailers on youtube. Bought the movie for a cheap price and I saw it. It was pretty good

When I saw the cover of this movie I almost screamed. I remembered seeing the old anime show "Starblazers". It had all the characters from the show. It was great watching it with my kids. Excellent special effect.

I first saw this movie when it first came out. I bought it on Blu-Ray disc and it was only available in Japanese with English subtitles. I purchased this copy because it was dubbed in English. I highly recommend it.

Pretty decent action and special effects. Lot familiar with the manga version but enjoyed the movie.
