One of the 5 best Bond movies of all time! Great segue into the beginning of the Connery-era Bond films

It is a good movie. Not the best of the Daniel Craig ones, but a solid one for his fourth installment in Bond series

This is one of the better recent Bond movies, especially a 100 times better Quantum of Solice, great Digital copy.

I was pleasantly surprised, after the middling reviews, and I was able to lower my expectations a smidge (my expectations were SUPER high). I think this is a pretty solid Bond movie, unfortunately it's not as good as its bar-setting predecessor or Casino Royale. I think this would rank either in between or after the Connery movies, which is still decent praise. Perhaps the largest falloff from Skyfall is losing Roger Deakins - Spectre is just not nearly as visually striking. And yes, the script has a few problems, mostly the backstory for Blofield, which admittingly doesn't make any sense, nor does the boast made about being behind all of Bond's past adventures. As to the criticism that Waltz is barely in the movie, I think he's in it an almost perfect amount. You never want to out stay your welcome. I'd argue he's in it too much, at least near the end and how the plot ends. He should be kept more in the shadows and also feel more all-powerful, but I think Waltz was great despite some script deficits. The opening scene was terrific, and I thought the mid movie alpine shootout was pretty good as well. The action delivered, Daniel Craig and Waltz delivered, and so did much of the rest of the movie. If this is the "average" Bond film we are to get in the future, we are all pretty fortunate.

    A Standard But Solid Entry

Spectre, the follow-up to the wildly successful Skyfall, hit theaters with much anticipation and high expectations. While not as good as Skyfall or Casino Royale (Quantum of Solace should be considered a continuation to Casino Royale and not on its own), there is much to like here. Amongst them are a lighter (for the Craig run) tone and several throw backs to the Bond of old as one might expect given the title. While there isn't much in the line of surprises, there is still a lot of fun. Q has some much needed screen time to allow the audience to get a better feel for who this incarnation is. The villain is a bit, in my opinion, weak when all is revealed but this is by no means a deal breaker. The end is a bit ambiguous but we all know James Bond will be back so who knows how things will he followed up (at this point in time Sam Mendes has stated this Spectre is his last entry in the series, at least for the near term). If this is the last Daniel Craig entry then he's had one heck of a run. He took the franchise from the brink of being a full on parody of itself to a solif secure standing not seen since probably Goldeneye. Bond fans will not be disappointed. New entrants however should go back and start with Casino Royale and work their way up to get the full enjoyment of this film.

This is the movie that was supposed to tie everything back into the franchise and demonstrate whether the franchise could keep turning out movies like Skyfall. The Bond series has often been noted for a great movie followed by a good movie. While it's in tune with the franchise to have Blofeld back, it's not really Fleming's Blofeld though his later appearance does tie into You Only Live Twice. As a whole, it's a really good Bond movie, better than Quantum of Solace, not as good as Skyfall. A good follow-up, which might also wrap up Craig's time as Bond (which has been excellent) would be a remake of On Her Majesties Secret Service. But the producers won't do that, and I don't know why? Still, great movie, great action sequences (the opener outshines the rest of the movie) and a bit over-the-top on a pistol taking down a helicopter at extreme range. But after all, it is Bond!
