Daniel Criag's interruptation of James Bond continues to impress. His version of Bond is much more physical and rougher than my other favorite James Bond, who is of course, Sean Connery. This fourth in the latest series of Bond films answers many of the questions poised in the first three movies in this new series. My only problem with this movie is with many of the questions answered, and with M and Mr. White gone now, will the series be able to keep up the same quaility of story telling it did when it had this common core to build off of in each new movie. These common themes kept me invested in each new movie to see what old questions would be answered and what new questions would be discovered to be answere in the next movie. Unless they can bring Blofeld back and this time make him more menacing and cruel than he was in this last film and at the sametime resolve why Bond comes back after he left MI6 for being with Mr. White's daughter, they are going to have a tough time writing a followup to "Specter".

I think Skyfall is the best Bond movie ever and is good enough to stand on its own even if you know nothing about any of the James Bond movies. With that said - this movie picks up where Skyfall left off and is worth the price of admission on the opening scene alone. Overall the story is good - though typically a little far fetched (as all the Bond movies are) - but a fun action flick that ties up a lot of loose ends while raising some relevant real world questions about government surveillance and what its limits should be. Visually stunning cinematography shot on location at a number of actual sites (not green screen) which has long been a Bond hallmark. I liked the movie better on the 3rd watch than the first 2 which i also think speaks to the depth of the movie. I would rank this one maybe second behind Skyfall and edging Casino Royale by a nose (with Quantum of Solace definitely in 4th place) in the Daniel Craig as 007 series. If this is truly Craig's last hurrah as Bond he definitely went out in style.

Daniel Craig is the perfect bond for our day and age. Laconic and incredibly tough in a time of endless talking and increasing reflection on our emotions and actions. To be clear, I don’t think the latter are bad things, but Craig’s bond provides a useful counterpoint to these trends as we are confronted with the pain and misery he must endure with very little said about it, so little reflection. This bond is a relic stuck in the past while the world has moved on but it’s worth being reminded of this suddenly archaic archetype both for its problems and understated beauty. Spectre is a gorgeous film with a mediocre script that attempts to retcon the previous Craig entries into an overarching plot, and this falls flat for the most part. The action and set prices are as good as ever though.

The return of SPECTRE

The movie itself - despite having a pretty good storyline(for the most part) - was....it felt mediocre. They brought back SPECTRE, the international crime syndicate from past Bond movies. Meh.
The opening scenes were great. The movie builds off that until the middle through two-thirds through, where things are a little muddled and hard to follow. As a Bond fan this one left me a little disappointed overall.
Stop reading, spoilers coming.
So MI6 is obliterated and the leader of SPECTRE is purposefully left alive?! Lame! Craig makes a fantastic Bond but this is the worst movie under his name.
The one thing I absolutely loved was the explaining the origins of SPECTRE. But what I hate about that is it seems this movie was solely made to re-introduce SPECTRE and leaving the end open for further franchisement. Basically: if you liked Goldfinger getting sucked out of an airplane window, this movie does the opposite.
Rental only. I wish I hadn't purchased it.

Caught this film release weekend with 3 friends. In the moment, I ate it all up and enjoyed the pacing, aciton and still self aware nods to the original Bond films and tropes-- Bond finally ordering the martini shaken not stirred, only to find the bar doesn't sell alcohol; getting a car with gadgets... only for it to not have bullets loaded. Sure, after hearing peoples reviews and reservations I agreed that the villain could have been better, especially given the casting of Christoph Waltz, but I still enjoy this film. Best Buy's steelbook I'm sure will receive a resounding positive reception. Embossed bullet hole on front and back of the steelbook with the teaser poster image? Yes, please! Was a Day one purchase from a day one pre-order, which they charged me the lowest price when transaction posted. Great stuff, Best buy!

I'm a big fan of Daniel Craig's acting and I've always felt he was a natural Bond. The scores are great and the story fails to disappoint.
But what any fan really wants to know, since they've already seen the movie, is what's the SteelBook edition like? Well, I've always liked steelbooks for a few reasons: 1. they just store easier since they are shorter and just as thin if not thinner than the blue cases, 2. added protection should the movie travel with you or in a moving van, and 3. the artwork is always nice. This one is no exception and what's included is worth the price. It's too bad they don't offer a DVD with the combo, but I'm sure that will be part of the past soon enough anyway. All in all I'm happy with this edition.
