The Best Daniel Craig Bond movie yet.

There is talk that this is Daniel Craig's last movie as James Bond. If that is so, he goes out on a very high note and will make it difficult for the new James Bond actor. The film follows Bond's path of discovery as he fights to learn the truth behind a mysterious evil organization. This organization is run by a man that just might have a past with Bond. The story is an emotional ride that does a great job of tying all the previous Daniel Craig Bond films together. If you haven't seen any of the other Daniel Craig Bond movies, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall or it has been awhile, you should get a refresher before you see Spectre. This movie is 148 minutes long which is the longest James Bond movie made and is worth every minute. You will not be disappointed.

Picked this up as a gift for the Mrs., who is a big Bond fan. We both like Daniel Craig's turn as James Bond, although Connery... well, as they say, "Nobody does it better..." I would put Spectre slightly under Casino Royale in the four DC films. It would go Skyfall, Casino Royale, Spectre, then Quantum of Solace (I honestly cannot remember anything about the last one.) From imdb: "A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE." The villain is really key for a Bond film to work, and they sure got one for this film. Cristoph Waltz really chewed the scenery in this film. The steelbook really looks nice as a gift. If you can get one, try to snag it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this 50th anniversary 007 adventure! It harkens back to its original Sean Connery era roots, while not being retro-continuity reliant. This means that the story isn't overly confusing or focused on just pleasing the hardcore Bond enthusiast. The performances were good, but not as strong as the previous movie Skyfall. (Which makes it waaaaay better than any of the Roger Moore era movies!) While the story doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence, it's still fun & exciting. If you consider the previous 3 Daniel Craig Bond movies as a sort of "new origins" trilogy, this one is a brand-new (stand alone) story. I highly recommend this movie if you're seeking something that's not your typical, run-of-the-mill, mindless blockbuster.

Great salute to the classic Bond franchise

Spectre pays a well deserved salute to the days of Sean Connery by reviving an old villain (setting up for future installments) and creating new ones that remind us of the henchmen from the past (Odd Job and Jaws). As the title implies, Spectre, the global terrorist organization emerges to the surface after clues from the earlier Daniel Craig films are tied together. With Skyfall being more of a transition film, Spectre follows closely to the classic plot line with a great action packed opening, multiple locations around the globe and, of course, the two beautiful women who play their parts. It still has the nervous grit that we've come to love with these new chapters and injects just the right amount of over the top unbelievability.

    'Spectre' is Straight-Forward Fun

'Spectre' brings a mixture of Bond past and present in exquisite style. All the Bond cliches are there - cool cars, huge explosions, beautiful women, exotic locations and one-liners. For Bond aficionados, plenty of throwbacks are included as 'Spectre' feels more familiar than previous Craig films. Unlike the twists and turns of recent Bond offerings like 'Casino Royale' and 'Skyfall,' 'Spectre' is fairly straight-forward - especially if one is knowledgeable of Bond lore. Fans of Bond will want to add 'Spectre' to your collection immediately as it is a good film that ties Craig's run as the iconic character together.

The movie itself is alright--if you enjoyed Skyfall you'll probably like this one (though Skyfall is better). Trying to force all the previous Craig movies into this storyline really took away from it I think, but Craig is awesome as usual and seemed to have a little more fun this time around. Anyway, if you're like me you're here for the Steelbook, and this one is gorgeous. If you're a collector you won't regret this one. On a side note I've had nearly all my steelbooks shipped to me that I've purchased at BB (easily over 20) and I've only had one get crushed, even though the packaging is not the best. It makes me cringe everytime I open that padded envelope but I've been pretty lucky so far.

    Bond Fans Must Own

SPECTRE was an awesome film that was brilliantly conceived, well written and expertly crafted to conclude the four-film story arc nicely while re-introducing movie-goers to an iconic Bond villain. The monumental single-shot Day of the Dead prologue set the tone for what would become an amazing adventure for our hero James Bond, once again portrayed flawlessly by Daniel Craig who brings the same visceral intensity to the role. The Blu-ray transfer provides a great presentation of the cinematography and audio. The few extras included make for some entertaining peeks behind-the-scenes. (The sheer scale of the Mexico City shoot is breathtaking.) Best Buy's exclusive Steel Book edition offers a cooler case than the standard release, but nothing more.

Spoilers ahead! This is it, this is the one Bond movie that no one thought would happen. Any real Bond fan will quickly realize the eerie similarity between this and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. That's is the first mistake they made. The second mistake was the whole "I'm having daddy issues and will bring the entire world to ruin just to get back at my brother for being better than me" plot that this movie suddenly throws at you to insult your intelligence just a bit more. Yes, every one of the Bond movies starring Daniel Craig was just chewed up and spit out with some lame plot that his brother (Blofeld) was truly responsible for everything that has happened since Casino Royale came out. This entire movie was simply an attempt to cash in on a long dead enemy of the early Bond franchise. The problem with SPECTRE (the organization, not the movie) is that it doesn't work in today's world. Much like how you can't have cold war troubles in Star Trek, because there is no cold war, no one would understand. This movie actually would have worked if they had left out the 'evil brother' plot and just stuck to 'evil terrorist organization determined to rule the world' plot (COBRA, is that you?). Now, the reason SPECTRE (the movie) didn't work is because we were already treated to Quantum, the "SPECTRE" of today's Bond. They had already established that Quantum was doing everything that SPECTRE was supposedly doing on top of what Quantum was doing... or something like that, I don't really know, I find it hard to believe that one super power has another super power as a front that is also just as secret and no one knows it exists. If your super secret organization is so secret, why do you need a secondary super secret organization to hide the main one if no one even knows it's there to begin with? I really half expected to have the Avengers show up, but I keep forgetting this is SPECTRE, not HYDRA... though there seems to be some similarities there as well. At least we were given an awesome opening credit song by Sam Smith. Most of the action scenes were sub-par, even by James Bond standards, the car chase scene just didn't do anything for the movie either. The way the entire series has gone (and the way this one ended), I'm sure Bond will be back at work as if he never stole a top secret prototype car and disobeyed the orders of every single person of higher authority than him. If they make one more. Casino Royale started us off real good, but the entire series since then just kind of lost its spark and I feel this movie was just throwing everything it could into the pot and hoping whoever ate it didn't notice how bad it was by adding lots of spices.

This is the fourth of my Daneil Craig James Bond collection . It took me a minute to sit down and watch because I felt it was not goin to be that good , how I was so wrong ! The story line was fluid , characters where strong and for the first time was wrong , I couldn't tell how the ending was going to be ! Am sad that the main character will not proceed filming as bond but so happy he went out with a bang ! I rated this movie with the highest stars possible but would give them more !! Daniel has put his own stamp on the Bond character and in my opinion the best ! I thank him for his roll and wished he changed his mind so I can keep purchasing his flicks !!!

Craig is the Best Bond Ever

Daniel Craig is the only Bond cast into this role who looks and acts like all the crazy people I know who actually do this for a living. While real life inspiration(s) for the fictional Bond may have been more "gentlemanly" than maniac, I think the current incarnation of Craig as Bond the bloody action hero rather than Bond the teflon socialite makes the movies much more entertaining and, albeit a little bit, more believable. Even a little bit more believable helps counter the "willful suspension of disbelief" required to enjoy fiction. I am not as concerned about the gender and race of the next Bond as I am about whether the new persona will be just as crazy.

First, you HAVE to have this movie if you're a James Bond fan. (Granted, you need to have Casino Royale and Skyfall, which you surely do - right?) Second, love this packaging (except for storage, doesn't quite line up with the other BlueRay or DVD boxes). I didn't have Quantum of Solace before, but I bought it in the Steelbox edition, and found out I liked it better than I had remembered. Third, digital is the future. So you might as well pick up that format that you can keep forever, and then sell the Steelbox whenever the next platform -4K, 8K, whatever - is available and upgrade your collection. Well, that's my plan, at least. Have fun !!!

A new look at the old Bond...

This version SPECTRE is a through-back to some of the older Bond movies with Sean Connery. Sometimes it's rattling to see the newer versions of the older characters; Q is much younger, and the spectacular car the Aston Martin DB10 was wrecked during it's premier appearance... That car deserves many more appearances! The plot and action are Bondesque, and it was nice to see Bond drive off in the original Aston Martin DB7. I have all the original bond moviee on blue ray, plus the one unofficial movie with Sean Connery, and Spectre completes my collection so far. I thought this was the last Bond movie, but the credits seem to indicate more Bond to come...

Easily the Second Best Daniel Craig Bond Film

Never could quite understand why Skyfall got the praise it did. In my opinion, the order - from best to last - is (1) Quantum of Solace, (2) this film - Spectre, (3) Skyfall, and finally, (4) Casino Royale. Spectre provides a satisfying story that finally brings some much needed closure to Craig's tortuous take as 007. Sadly, Monica Belluci is grossly underused, and Lea Seydoux - for all the strength she is portrayed with - hardly does more than your routine Bond girl in distress. Still, Spectre succeeds in weaving nice action with exposition. Too bad Craig is coming back for no. 5. Personally, this one would have been a perfect ending to his take on Bond.

Spectre was the last of the released Bond films with Daniel Craig. It seems to pretty much complete the back story of the known Bond characters that we have known for 50 years. There are a number of things to remind you of the past movies...like Goldfinger's Rolls Royce. All in all though this is not a great edition to the series. The beginning is exciting enough but afrf that it slows down. Technically however the dolby vision and dolby atmos playback is spectacular.

A typical Bond movie. Unfortunately Daniel Craig's run has been very hit and miss. Nothing has compared to Casino Royale, but this might be a suitable 2nd place. Plot was nearly as contrived and completely illogical like Skyfall nor did it feel like a "filler" movie that was Quantum of Solace. Unfortunately the "bad guy" is about as dangerous as the QoS villain. The action scenes are breathtaking and more Connery classic in their application to the story. We haven't quite reached Die Another Day bad, so hopefully Craig quits before he gets there.

This movie is a must for those tracking the story arc through Daniel Craig's incarnation of James Bond. But as has been noted by other critics, it not quite on par with his best (Casino Royale and Skyfall). Some of the plot is a little too convenient and forced, particularly the relationship between Bond and head of Spectre, but is an interesting take nevertheless. Hopefully won't be Craig's last outing as 007. In terms of the presentation, the blu-ray is as one would expect from these later releases. Picture is crisp and clean and sound is suitably full, loud and directional. Certainly a worthwhile addition to anyone's collection especially if you are a Bond fan.
