This game is super colorful and fun to play. The guided play option is great to get you started learning all the features and game scenarios. Our one disappointment is not being able to have multiplayer game play with a split screen. Although you can play with others online, if two players are physically in the same room, one gets a view on the large TV screen while the other is relegated to viewing his/ her position on the game pad screen. Given the polarity of and split screen option with Mario Kart 8, I'm baffled as to why Nintendo didn't do the same for Splatoon. That is one of the main reasons we bought the Wii U to begin with - to play together at home. That said, we're still enjoying the game for what it is.

This game is insanely entertaining and is a fun take on the genre, however it seems it was hurried to release as there just aren't that many game modes. Online play is smooth and exciting, though for now we're limited to just 2 available levels at a time. The 1 player campaign is pretty good, though a little short, but the local multiplayer is just awful. It seems as it was thrown in at the last second, there's only one game type available and you're limited to 1 player using the game pasd and one on the tv. No split screen multiplayer? Why the heck not?!?! No multiplayer online either which really stinks. Hopefully they add that support in the future, but overall this is one of the best wii u games available!!

this game is very fun. i am not good at shooters like Halo or CoD. i die a lot. i still die frequently in this game during the multiplayer but since this game is a team effort of paint coverage, even if you die you can still contribute by covering up bits and pieces of the map. none of the powerups or special attacks seem really over powered. this game is very colorful and relaxing (even with my lack of shooter skills). i would highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a fun shooter experience.

Splatoon is such a unique and fun shooter. You use paint ball guns for weapons and have the ability to blast the environment with your paint color, swim up walls, and swim around in your own paint color like a shark (or a squid) and pop out behind enemies to take them out. Weapons and gear are fully upgradeable, new free game content is still being released, and the single player mode is a blast.

Great competitive online multiplayer game the whole family can enjoy! Note: it does also have a short single player campaign.

The game concept of Splatoon for the Wii U is somewhat simplistic... you basically run around splattering ink everywhere. And the graphics are just okay, even when compared to other Wii U video games. But the game play is very addictive. We got this game for our teenage son on the day of release, and now we can't get him to stop playing it. He especially enjoys playing online with his friends. Add in downloadable content and Amiibo features and this game really does offer a lot of replay value.

Simple concepts tend to be the most fun. Splatoon allows you to select your weapon (paint roller is my favorite) and "paint the town". The basic premise is to face off in a 4 v 4 game to see who can paint the most of the arena. There is a single player campaign which is fun...but nothing compared to the excitement and chaos of the 3 minute matches during online play. I highly recommend. You don't have to be a first person shooter expert to play. There is a weapon and playing style for everyone.

This game is so much fun to play! It's easy to pick up and play. It's a FPS done Nintendo style! I recommend it just try it!

Don't get me wrong, I like this game, I just don't love it. For one, I saw multiple pictures online with the TV split into 4 segments. So in my eyes, I'm thinking 5 player (4 controllers and the gamepad) LOCAL Multiplayer Romps with the kids and their friends... NOT the case. You can only do one on one locally, and the epic battles you see are done online with either friends on your friends list or random strangers. With a 5 year old and a 6, it was clearly disappointing. Now to the good stuff. This game, ROCKS! It is an awesome re-invention of your typical shooter. Fun, and intense, and a solid title! Worth day one pricing, IF you're not expecting local gameplay with multiple players.

He loves his new game. Got it and others for Xmas and hasn't stopped playing this one. Great graphics and a lot of fun.

Kids haven't stopped playing it for a week straight. Single player is amazingly just as fun as multiplayer if not better!

Splatoon is full of fun. Online multiplayer can be played for hours without getting boring and if you do get bored you can head over to single player mode and have lots of fun challenges there.

The game is a fresh twist to the ever-so-stale competitive shooter series. At surface value you wouldn't know it, but after playing it it's pretty deep. Not only do you have to worry about opponents shooting at you, but you also need to pay attention to your terrain which is constantly changing during firefights. I've been addicted to it since its release, and have spread that addiction to many of my friends. Hopefully my short review has spread it to you, too. You won't regret it.

I was hesitant to spend full price on a video game considering how quickly they tend to drop in price. However, Nintendo managed to put together not only a new IP to add to their portfolio, but made it so fun that I couldn't put it down for the first 48 hours. While the single player campaign was a bit short (the final boss fight is great btw) the multiplayer is highly entertaining. With rounds limited to 3 minutes, this is a game you can pick up and play whenever have a free moment.

Bought this game for my 8 year old son because it looked like a fun/non-violent game. Watched him play through the single player campaign and online matches and have to say this game is great. SP campaign is short but is very challenging and has a lot of variety. Online matches are short but fun and the customization of your character makes you want to keep playing to unlock new gear. With the developer continuing to add free DLC, it'll keep the game fresh and the community growing.

We knew this was a blockbuster hit, but we didn't realize why. This game is ridiculously fun and well balanced. Online matchmaking and other staples of first person shooters is simplified here, bullying is impossible, and its hard not to smile and want another round. The only thing shocking was the limitations on local multiplayer being 1 on 1 -- however, I think we'll forgive them that. It would be a nightmare splitting the screen into 4 and staying focused :)

I wasn't too sure about this game when it first came out but I had friends who bought it and said great things about it. Found it on sale on Black Friday so I bought it. Surprisingly I loved the game and have put in some time playing this online. Do know that this is an online heavy game. There is a single player but game was designed for online. I bit of a high learning curve but once you get the handling down it is quite easy to play and so much fun.

I picked this up for my daughter and she loves it. We both enjoy the online multiplayer and the awesome boss battles in the campaign. Unlocking the new weapons is fun and worthwhile.

There are very few games out there that do to me what Splatoon has done. I dream of strategies on how to defeat the competition. Playing to perfect your skills is not only rewarding, but it's fun as all get out as well. If you own a Wii U and have an internet connection, you need Splatoon. I'm not even an online shooter fan and I can't get enough of this game. If you're on the fence, try it out because you'll find this is unlike any shooter you've ever played.

I was a little intrigued by this game when it was first introduced by Nintendo, but after trying out the demo, I was hooked. I never thought Splatoon would be this fun and addictive, but it is. One thing I am disappointed about it though is not having at least two players play online on the same Wii U console. I think it would have been fun to have a friend join in with you on the online play. Nevertheless, it's still a great game for a third-person shooter!
