Splatoon is a great game. Lots of fun and a fresh take on first person shooters.

Splatoon is a fresh take at the 3rd person shooter genre. It's kid-friendly, and it's colorfulness & attitude are enough to keep anyone hooked. Both of my kids (7yF and 9yM) enjoy playing this and so do I (32yM)! The controls can be a bit 'odd' at first, but once you get the hang of them, it's not so bad. I love Nintendo's inclusion of the old NES Zapper into the game, and the clothing that serves as upgrades is fun too. *Plus* IF you can find the Amiibo to go with the game, get them because it opens up more challenges and extras as well.

Really fun to play. Many different weapons and upgrades to you're gear. The first person mode is kinda short and Super Mario Galaxy like. But this game is made for multiplayer and doesn't disappoint. One thing that can be worked on its the amount of multiplayer levels to battle on. I'm sure it downloads will come out soon, since there has already been one new level and new weapons.

Splatoon is great! This is a fresh take on an old genre, and it's the first shooter in years that I've played and actually enjoy. The weapon variety, the ink mechanics, and the emphasis on teamwork make it a ton of fun. It doesn't hurt that the graphic and music style mixes a retro 90's aesthetic with modern goofy humor. Definitely a must-buy, one of the best games of 2015.

In this day and age, it's more common to see sequels and rehashed "tested and worked" titles. It's more the exception than the rule that a developer will try something completely new. So this new IP was a refreshing release and solid new IP. Unique gameplay, light hearted, and still strategic in its core. Good for any shooter fans who dont want anything too hardcore

The single player campaign was fun, and so was the multi player campaign

I bought this with minimal research based on reviews I saw on bestbuy.com. So far I've been very happy. The machine seems very well constructed and is easy to use. The wash bin is HUGE and the best part is that it doesn't have any obstructions in the center like most top loading washers. You can easily wash a comforter in here. This game has been nominated for and won so many awards. It is a shooter but it is nothing like any other shooter you have known. It is also very family-friendly. Great ranking system so you end up playing with others at your skill level. The only issue is that the local multiplayer is not very good but all of the games other amazing qualities make up for this.

This game is so much fun to play online. The lack of voice chat is actually positive in my opinion, as you don't have to worry about muting the obscenities and profane remarks that unfortunately follow online gaming. As a testament to how great the game actually is, my wife picks it up and plays it when I'm not home. It's incredibly fun, bright, colorful, and clean.

Bought this for my kids and they love it. I don't let them play regular FPS due to the desensitized violence usually seen in that Genre. So Spatoon delivers with imaginative gameplay, relatively minor cartoon violence, and enough add ons, new content and multiplayer options that they've continued to be hooked for months (this is a 2nd copy for a separate wiiU

I have spent over 200 hours playing Splatoon since its release, and it is still not boring. It is a fast paced shooter that is appropriate for all audiences. There is a single player mode, but I strongly recommend buying this game for the online functionality. You can play ranked matches, or take it casual and just stick to turf wars. An instant classic!

This is a fun shooter game for the entire family. It's not violent like other shooters out there. Just some paintball style fun.

The Splatoon experience is split into two main sections. There is a single player third person platforming and a third person multiplayer "turf battle" mode. The single player campaign is fun and innovative. It is evocative of Mario Galaxy and Portal in its fun environments and interesting platforming mechanics. The multiplayer is a little rougher and light on content. Players are put on a team of four and strive to cover as much of the play area in ink as they can. There are a lot of different combinations of weapons and clothing to unlock and buy. The main issues are that there are only two maps available every day, there is only one game type. It also lacks many of the features one would expect from online multiplayer in this day and age. You can play with friends, but the game assigns people to random teams so more often than not you are playing against people in your party. You cannot change your weapon between matches without leaving the lobby, and there is no voice chat. Even with all these flaws it is still a great game and worth playing The single player alone is almost worth the cost of admission. Nintendo has consistently been releasing new content since launch, and part of this score is the assumption that they will continue to do so.

I don't like FPS/TPS games. Now that I've said that, THIS game is AWESOME!! My son who has never played an FPS was able to pick this game up and go! Using the gamepad to give a quick 90 degree turn helps kids understand using one analog to aim and the other to move. The single player campaign is short but fun. The game is geared in having online battles.

If you don't have a Wii U by now, this game alone is worth the purchase. I have played FPS for years and Splatoon feels fresh and inventive. I can't get enough of this game. The best part is that Nintendo plans to keep rolling out free DLC all summer long. There are even Amiibos for this game that unlock new campaign modes, outfits, and weapons. 10/10.

This is a great game that our whole family enjoys playing. The only downside is it's single player. It can be played online with others, but there's no split screen so everybody has to take turns. They are constantly adding new content- gear, guns, and maps- which makes a great buy since the updates are free and it's not paid DLC like other games.

Quick review from a longtime gamer Splatoon is a 4v4 online multiplayer third-person "shooter" except the guns are all squirt guns and paint brushes and rollers all powered with ink of your team's color, the players are customizable kid-squid hybrids, and the object is to cover the arena in paint of your team's color, while hindering the opposing team by defeating them directly or covering up their ink with yours. Matches are 3 minutes long, so there are always players ready to play and matches never go long. The game is colorful, the characters and maps are well designed for contrast and playability. Players can customize their avatars with both normal and bizarre but appropriate clothing and weapons earned through play, with bonuses that unlock with experience as well. Controls work exceptionally well, including the motion controls, used for fine aiming. Online functionality is fantastic, and matches are usually pretty balanced. No voice chat keeps the game very friendly and even being defeated is usually still fun. Single player seems great for training unexperienced players. Verdict: Even for those who usually don't like playing online, Splatoon is great fun in a wacky paint fight between groups of kid-squids.
