21st century hot plate induction cooking!

Was warming it up to start cooking and the glass top shattered sending small pieces flying. Tried getting a hold of different people but never heard back. Never had issues with induction until this one.

Plus, I thought induction cooktops were not supposed to get hot? This seemed to get just as hot as a normal range and just as long to cool down.
