Spy is a great comedy which spoofs so many other things but still seems original in some way. Without too many spoilers Melissa McCarthy stars as Susan Cooper, a desk bound CIA analyst and handler and after the other agents are compromised including her crush played by Jude Law, she volunteers to go out into the field and stop the villain played by Rose Bryne from selling a Nuclear Weapon. On the way she is confronted by Rick Ford (JASON STATHAM) who says he's a "Real Spy" and that he wants to stop the sale himself. I'm a huge Statham fan and it was hilarious to see him drop so many F bombs and basically play a character that is a spoof of all his others and keeps screwing up, I just wish he had more screen time and all but he was my fav in this. Pretty funny comedy with some good action too and good performances from the cast.

My wife wanted the movie; I didn't really care but purchased to please her. I've now played it twice in the first month, and then put it on again as background to get the kids' attention away from my spouse (really, me!). The story line is obviously too far-fetched, but the appearance of some really great actors/actresses totally fills in what would otherwise be just too dumb stupid instead of really, really dumb-funny hilarity. The one super action actor very obviously REALLY enjoyed making this movie -- if it wasn't for him, the movie would otherwise get old quick//the leopard pants stuck-up is a crack-up, too. SO, this movie generates some awesome laughs due to a great selection of actors/actresses not dependent upon a one-person TV showoff.

Most of the Melissa McCarthy movies after Bridesmaids have been rather disappointing. I did not even crack a smile watching Tammy so I had given up hope. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I first roared with laughter watching Spy. Even better, the laughs just kept coming. I think the reason this movie worked so well was the casting. My favorite pairing was McCarthy with Miranda Hart. They were hysterical together. I did not even look to see who the director was until the credits rolled. Once I saw it was Paul Feig, it all made sense. With the exception of one his comedies, I have enjoyed everything he has done.

While Melissa McCarthy can be pretty funny, I feel like every single character she plays is the same, loud, foul-mouthed psycho/trashy person that wreaks havoc everywhere she goes. I was getting really burnt out on her work, but this movie looked like it would be ok and I honestly laughed quite a few times through this flick. While this is nowhere near the pinnacle of comedy, the entire cast, including MM was pretty great together and made the film enjoyable to watch, regardless of how stupid the entire thing is. Over $10, I'd say pass and rent it, otherwise, it's worth owning for multiple viewings.

I have not enjoy any of director Paul Feig's other movies- I loathed Bridemsmaids, was bored by The Heat, Unaccompanied Minors looses itself halfway through. So, when I state that Spy is really darn funny, and mostly works, imagine how surprised I must feel writing that. The flaws are minor, but do exist- an ongoing gag about rats in CIA HQ is weird and out of place, and every stunt double for Melissa McCarthy is very noticeable. Outside of those two things though, this is really funny. The slight Bond spoofiness, while still being a funny spy movie is nice. The acting is good, and the ending is lots of fun.

I'm a huge Melissa McCarthy fan and usually enjoy her performances even though some of her latest movies have been hit and miss for me... having said that, I think "Spy" is by far the best movie she has made!! I love the classic Bond movies and this parody is simply perfect: from her hilarious performance to the superb casting. A new twist on old cliche's, funny action scenes and delightful dialogue go a long way here. All around one of my favorite movies. I saw it on the big screen first and bought the DVD so I can watch it again. And I loved it just as much the second time!

Spy is one of the funniest movies ever made. I used to be able to find a free, edited version of it on cable. Since it’s one of those movies that I could watch over and over again, I decided that I should actually own it. I’m glad that I purchased the Blu Ray because, in addition to an unrated version of the movie, it also has a lot of extras related to the making of the movie.

This movie is funny from the very start and Melissa McCarthy shines in her role as promising young up and coming CIA analyst and operative. Melissa is at her best when she can ad-lib and improv her scenes. She's pure genius and Spy surprises you in many ways this movie will keep you guessing and certainly entertained. A must for any comedy, spy or McCarthy fan.

Hands down its the funniest movie of the year. McCarthy is at the top of her game while Byrne is so deliciously fun as the sultry and vulgar mean girl of the film. But I gotta give props to Statham as the man steals the entire film and manages to poke fun at his entire career while making me laugh harder than I ever imagined. It's a solid spy comedy that soars thanks to its impressive and willing cast. And with a superb transfer that makes it one of the best blu rays of the year, I'd definitely recommend.
