Melissa at her BEST!

Melissa McCarthy never disappoints in whatever she does. I think this is the best movie she's done so far. If you are a fan of Spy Movies, then this is for you. The movie combines Austin Powers, James Bond, In Like Flint and a host of other Spy Movies into one hilarious romp through Europe. Every character is well acted, especially Jason Statham in a roll you wouldn't suspect. Funny with lots of bang-bang-shoot-em up, and a surprised twist. Adult theme beware, definitely not for children. A Must ADULT see.

I was really surprised at how good this movie was. I expected it to be funny but what I did not expect, was how convincingly agile and capable the leading lady turned out to be. I would put her up there with one of the bond girls. As far as ability is concerned, she certainly has a few tricks up her sleeves. The duplicity of her character is what truly makes this movie hilarious. With the exception of a couple graphic scenes, and a little too much "Language" for my liking, overall, I really enjoyed it.

For those that do not know by now that Melissa McCarthy is a foul mouthed woman, this movie proves that point. It has lots of vulgar words, rude references, but is an enjoyable ride. I bring up the vulgarness so that people are aware that this is a James Bond type action movie with the crude humor of Old School (and then some). So be warned it is a good story with plot twists, action and comedy, but it isn't for young people...This was enjoyable movie, but take heed of the rating comments...

An enjoyable movie. Easily Melissa McCarthy's best movie since Bridesmaids, finally she picked a movie with good material. I didn't think The Heat was very good (or funny), but two outta three ain't bad for the acting/directing team of McCarthy and Feig. McCarthy is fully the star of this one, too. Jude Law and Rose Byrne are good costars, but it's definitely McCarthy's movie. I did like how they brought Jason Statham on board and played with his action image by making him useless.

Honestly, I've seen this movie probably 20 times now. For me, it's one of those movies that if I happen to come across it flipping through the channels, I'm destined to sit and watch the entire thing. To me, this is the true value of a movie, and as such, I recommend this one.
As far as an actual review, the entire movie is fun and engaging. Pretty much all of the characters are memorable, but the parts between Melissa and Jason kill me the most.

Didn't realize this movie was rated R till it got to a certain scene, no coment and was ready to be over. Felt this was one of her funniest movie yet. Nice car chase but not great like the rest of the spy movies but fun to watch. Her chemistry with Jason Statham was hilarious and one unexpected twist.

Just a word of warning! This movie is called SPY which made me think it was about a single person who was also a spy. I was wrong. Maybe if that was true, the title would be A SPY or ONE SPY. Anyway, this movie is about THREE spies, which is great because that's a lot more spies than just one! Highly recommended!
I JUST REALIZED IT'S CALLED SPY BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY *DO*, NOT JUST A STATEMENT ABOUT THE NUMBER OF CHARACTERS WHO HOLD THAT OCCUPATION!

More a spy movie spoof - so, it's funny mixed with tongue-in-cheek serious; "The Heat" is funnier - I can watch that over and over, but having just seen "Spy" recently, it is growing on me - if you watch or recommend to another - make sure you're ready for the pictures on the camera they capture in the movie - hint: that spy did not read the acceptable use policy for spy "company" camera equipment or he hid the camera in his pants, but not that carefully!

ypical same old Melissa McCarthy, chubby girl with an attitude spiel, although this one didn't play that quite so hard. Mildly entertaining. Spy actually had a plot--rather than just multiple SNL skits threaded together like most of her movies. I think she may actually be a decent actress, too bad they just keep trying to use the same old--"Overweight Chick in Absurd Situation" formula--it got old VERY quickly, and doesn't do her justice.

This movie is def funny but could have been better. I love Melissa McCarthy and she is her usual funny crazy self and statism is pretty good too. My only problem is using the f word to emphasize and make something funnier like McCarthy does is fine but statism just drops it every other word for no purpose. This kinda gets old and after awhile you've had enough but the movie is funny enough to deserve at least one viewing

While the content is a bit raunchy in spots, Melissa McCarthy and the Paul Feig Director continues to bring hilarious comedy to the main stream media. This one is best viewed in company of others as the laughs are non-stop and best shared. I've seen this movie many times and I still can't get enough of it. Definitely a good buy (rather than a rental) as you will likely want to view it over and over again.

Excellent movie, really funny. Watched it on a streaming service and then had to run out and buy my own copy. I think it would still be as funny without over use of the f word and some others though. Some scenes are like watching a young child say silly sentences, throwing swear words in to shock or attempt to be cool. It is still a really funny movie though with lots of extras and out takes on the DVD.

I saw this movie in theaters and was taken by surprise how funny it is. Many people I have talked to did not know about this movie because it was not widely advertised. I hope they come out with a sequel. In my opinion, this movie would have been great for kids and adults both without some of language and adult themes used, although this was not a personal issue for me (a 24 year old).

After Bridesmaids Melissa McCarthy's stock rose to the point where we were fairly inundated with her latest comedy effort. Like "The Heat" before it, "Spy" is among the best she's done (it seems she's most comfortable with director Feig, which lends hope to the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot). Don't set your expectations impossibly high, and you'll find this is a fun, funny take on the Bond genre.

Not really a McCarthy fan but I have to give it up for this one, very funny. Jude Law is great in his role. It was special seeing Jason Statham in a comedy. He spoofed himself & was great doing so. Some good fight scenes, some good action, a good story and everyone was funny, great humor. Enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Cheap plus got the HD code. Great buy at Best Buy.

Spy is both a comedy and an action adventure with both genres running at full strength. With Melissa McCarthy in the comedic role of a desk bound CIA analyst, who finally gets her chance to serve in the field and Jason Statham as the hardened CIA agent who wants no part of her in the operation, you have a formula for great entertainment.

Melissa McCarthy is hilarious and dangerous in "Spy." She plays a CIA
desk jockey who goes finally goes out on the field on assignment. Though she has no field experience she combat and fighting training. "Spy" is filled with exciting action and outrageous often off-colored humor. Jason Statham almost steals the movie playing an over-egotistical version of his tough guy persona.
