The reader wouldn't ever read the cards ever! So I had to hand punch every card number in causing to pay more for the purchase.

I purchased this card reader for my league and it worked once and never worked again

i love my square reader when it works! the chip reader only worked one day!

Use quickbooks it is a smaller fee and equipment is free.

I called the store ahead of time they said they had 24 regular square readers. I got there and said someone bought them all and I had to buy this. Takes longer, has to be charged, and don't like it at all

The unit would not read chip cards. The unit says when inserteted that can't read chip. Charged the battery thinking that's what it was but didn't help. Bought another and had same problem.

I needed in for a small business so I drove 2 hrs to get one but when I got home I tried to set it up and it told me it had a bad chip so it didn't even work so I would not recommend this product

The chip reader doesn't read at all nor does the magnetic strip scanner. I had to go back to using the original magnetic strip only scanner I had purchased last year.

I charged the reader and went on a location job and the first time I inserted a card it said "reader is damaged, get a new one". Total waste of money.

I needed to upgrade my square reader to the chip reader and after using it once, I have as of yet to get it to work again.

Good concept, but tried contacting support, and had no answer to emails. I wouldn't trust my money to them.

Swipe and chip reader worked sporadically had to input most of the cards manually won't buy again.

This is a great idea! Makes it so simple! I never have to worry anymore. You get your money the next day. And people recognize it and are familiar with it. Very simple to set up and if your doing craft fairs or something small and need to take credit card payments, it's a must have! This one has the chip reader too.

If you are considering purchasing this, do yourself a big favor and make sure you try to sign up for an account on the Square website first. I ordered one online first and then tried to set up an account after the fact. Big mistake. It could not verify me or my husband. Without verification, you cannot use it to process credit cards. End of story. There is no second stage to approval and the customer service reps are unhelpful. Researching after the fact, I see that this is an issue others have experienced as well. I'm "on the grid" so to speak, so I would have never imagined my identity could not be verified. When it couldn't find my husband either, I called foul on their system. Identity-wise, the thing we have in common would be our address, so it must not like our address for some reason, even though it was entered, repeatedly, 100% correct. I'm pretty certain we know where we live. It's not like we just moved there either. So be aware this could happen to you and if it does, they will not assist you. There is no way to make it work. Either the two-second identity check on their site works out in your favor, or it does not. If it doesn't, too bad, so sad. They do not want your business, and I am now more than happy to go another way and not give it to them. (It should be noted that Best Buy should get five stars for accepting my return of this item without issues, thank you!)

I was able to use my new square reader at a festival to allow my customers to make credit card and debit card purchases. It was so easy to use and no electricity or charging was necessary except for my cellphone that I used it on. All you need to do is download the square app, create an account, connect your square reader and you're in business.

Worked perfectly for use at my craft show booth. I know I had more sales from impulse buys, when customers didn't have cash available.

Bought this to help our seasonal small business and it helped us greatly!! Had to exchange the first one but then we got the second one to work great. Definitely be using this again next year!!

I love square and will still use their system and this card reader was awesome at reading chip cards. It does need charging unlike the past readers which is kind of a pain but still portable. Unfortunately mine lasted only a few weeks and then now it cant read any of the cards. During a vendor show that means I manually entered all the cards I had to take and got charged an extra %.

Takes a few minutes to setup, but once complete, I couldn't be happier.

If you're an eMerchant, you'll need to uograde to a chip reader. This square reader is the way to go and my local Best Buy had plenty in stock.
