On devices it works on it works great. However, on my Lenovo Tab S8-50F it doesn't work at all. It tries to connect but just can't quite get there. I even took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for another one... same problem, so the problem has to be an incompatibility with either Lenovo's in particular or androids in general. The square reader that just reads mag stripes works very well on the Lenovo. A friend of mine has a iPad that I'm going to try it on it tomorrow. If you already have a Square account try the device out in the store on your device before buying it to make sure it's compatible.

Replaced my original Square magnetic-strip-only reader with this updated "chip enabled" reader. Size is slightly larger, which I actually see as a benefit, as swiping a magnetic strip is easier with the larger size. New device is also rechargeable, which means the device will not have to be replaced when the battery is depleted (as was the case with the first-generation magnetic-strip-only Square reader).

Good tool to have if you are taking credit cards It works cards that have chips

The unit handles credit cards just fine, including the chip reader. You simply have to have it charged up some for the chip reader to work.

I baught this card reader to take payments for my small business. It's very affordable and easy to use. Easy set up and the money is in my bank account the next day. I'm very happy with this product. I'll soon be buying the newer version.

I still haven't found an inexpensive android tablet that this will work with and its a bit of a pain that it needs to be charged unlike the strip reader but as I use the square in a physical location of my business it shouldn't be that much trouble hopefully. Looks like I'll need to cave in and buy an apple product to get this to function.

very convenient to accept chip cards and easy to do it over phone

I was worried about battery life. I have had no problems with battery or function. Setting up an account took a few minutes and the transaction charges (2.75%) are the only things possibly at issue. Very happy to have and use daily. My bank calls me weekly asking if I will lease their machine for $25/month plus transaction costs. I will never go back.
