At times sweet, at times scathingly funny, this is an incredible return to form for Bill Murray. It is, by far, the best thing he has been involved with since "Lost In Translation". His performance certainly deserves an Oscar nomination, as does Jaeden Lieberher's. Both make a wonderful on-screen odd couple. It is also nice to see Melissa McCarthy portraying someone who resembles an actual human being as opposed to a loud cartoon character. Her work here is extremely down to earth, and she scores the best line in the film. Criminally neglected in theaters, now is your chance to see one of 2014's top ten at home. "St. Vincent" will definitely make you laugh time and time again.

Told through the eyes of 12 year old Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher) who is old and wise before his time. Due to a divorce, Oliver and his mother Maggie (Melissa McCarthy), move to Brooklyn where they meet their neighbor, Vincent (Bill Murray). Maggie is forced to work long hours and has to leave Oliver in the care of Vincent, the curmudgeon who smokes, drinks, gambles and visits with a pregnant stripper named Daka (Naomi Watts). Vincent helps Oliver grow into a man while Oliver sees Vincent's good heart. Good cast.

What an unexpected charmer this film is! Bill Murray does what he does best; he charms and entertains and moves. After first seeing the trailer, I decided to watch the film and wasn't disappointed. With great performances by Naomi Watts and Melissa McCarthy in supporting roles, this is an uplifting tale about a boy who finds an unexpecting mentor in Bill Murray to guide him through some of life's obstacles after his parents have just divorced.

Bill Murray is on of my favorite actors and he does not disappoint here... He appears to be a lonely drunk to a single mom who moves in next door. She has to work late and entrusts her introverted son to his care. The son learns some real lessons in life and becomes stronger in character.
The only problem with the movie is that it has some unanswered issues (which is answered in the deleted scenes). Bill Murray is great in this movie.
The video quality is pretty good. The audio is sometimes a bit hard to understand because of the gruff vocals in Murray's character.

As I get older I rebel against bad language and scenes I must hide from young ones. This movie was totally frustrating in moral content until the very end when you step into someone else's shoes and forgive. The wife and I were left wondering whether we liked it or not. Bill Murray's role was new to me and the movie was way different than expected. I guess it would be one of those "someones got it worse than you movies".

Bill Murray has a great sense for good movies, and this is no exception. This movie depicts Murray as a seemingly crotchety old loner who cares for nothing but himself, but through the eyes of a young neighbor, we see that he actually cares about everyone. Funny and emotional, I highly recommend this film, especially to any Murray fan.

All three of the main characters are really well suited for the roles they play. Bill Murray is the somewhat grumpy neighbor to Melissa McCarthy who is a woman in the midst of a divorce and with a school age son. Bill Murray becomes his "babysitter" and as you can imagine all kinds of things happen. Enjoyable.

This movie easily ranks as one of my top ten favorite movies of all time.
Bill Murray gives the performance of a lifetime. Although billed as a comedy, it's really not. There are humorous parts of the movie. The acting is superb, story line touching. If you loved Gran Torino, you will love this movie.

Although this movie is rated PG-13, it's a great movie to watch with your kids. Every parent can relate to those trying times of juggling with your child, work and babysitting. Melissa McCarthy is a typical single mom struggling to move on with her life with her son. Bill Murray plays the grouchy old man that you end up loving in the end. One of those feel good movies with a good laugh.

Very surprised by how heart warming and yet funny this movie was. I cried at this movie and laughed at the dry humor you could miss if you didn't pay attention. Loved both Bill Murray and Melissa Mccarthy as they interacted together. The little boy in this movie stole the show definitely.

This move is a pretty solid dramedy. At times, it flirts with almost being too sentimental, but doesn't jump the line. Bill Murray shines and is at his best. Murray's interactions with the kid are sweet and effortless. The wheel wasn't exactly reinvented, but it was sure fun to watch.

I did not get a chance to see this in the theater, decided to purchase to see it. Best Buy did a price match for me and the guy that was helping me said that this is one of Bill Murray's best performances. I must agree! Bill Murray was AMAZING. Put this on your list of movies to see!

Story of Vince who is a drunken gambler who has a pregnant dancer girlfriend. He ends up providing child care for his new next door neighbor and teaches the kid about life. Unfortunately Vince's debts come due and he has to pay. During therapy we discover more about Vince and why he is who he is. Sometimes slow but engaging with occasional laughs and also tears.

If you like Bill Murray, you'll enjoy this movie; if you don't, you'll still enjoy this movie in part because of the excellent mostly-dramatic performance of co-star Melissa McCarthy, who proves here what a fine actress she is in a serious role. The more the story moves along, the more endearing it becomes.

We had heard this was a great movie, but didn't suspect that it was not a comedy with Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy starring in it. Duh...
Good story and very close to home for what a lot of people are going through these days, in our society.

This movie has a really nice story and is not your typical slap stick Melissa McCarthy comedy. It portrays a real picture of a woman experiencing hard times with her family and her son builds a strong relationship with their neighbor.
