Woo Hoo! As a lifelong Star Trek fan this is a welcome addition to mine or any "Trekkie's" collection. The video and audio quality is superb and the include extras are a great insight into the high production value of this series which completely blurs the line between movies and television. I highly recommend this release to all Trekkies and otherwise all fans of Sci-Fi at its best.

It's a decent show, but don't expect it to tie in with the others very well. In my opinion it's not canon to the rest (this may or may not have been verified by the developers already, I'm not sure)

I am a Star Trek fan but do not subscribe to CBS All Access. I saw the pilot episode which was done on broadcast TV and liked it. I waited for the Blue Ray release and purchased the first season. I have watched the entire season and have the following feedback. PROS: - Good special effects - Plenty of action - Familiar but also new - Regular plot surprises CONS: - Klingons look odd - A few plot details repeated - Details of war skipped over

This is overall a great series with high production values. Too bad it is behind a paywall in the U.S. CBS all access isn't really worth it just for one good show, although other Star Trek content is coming which might make it a better value in the months ahead...

I enjoyed it, but found it was centered on one actor and not the Star Trek universe. The show brings in elements into a timeline that would not match up to existing series.

I waited for this series to be offered on disc, since I don't subscribe to the streaming service. I am impressed with the quality of the series, along with the season-length story arc. It is obvious that the cast and crew are fans of the previous series, and the production values are excellent. The extra features provide insight into how the series has been produced. I look forward to the second season next year!

Was pleasantly surprised by the new series. I preferred to wait for the Blu-ray rather than subscribe to the streaming service - and got a great price from Best Buy for the collection. It was well worth the price! Even though I grew up with the original series and have been disappointed with some of the series that followed, this one had many twists and turns that truly captured my attention.

I think that "Star Trek: Discovery" is one of the greatest new series of all-time and it's also one of my favorite new series of all-time. I was really excited to see this series and I immediately enjoyed it and I also think that "Star Trek: Discovery" has a lot of entertaining, exciting and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense including exciting and original storylines.

While fun to watch, it doesn't really feel like StarTrek....they have been episodes in which leaves you wondering if you are watching StarWars instead.

I really liked the series. I had not seen any episodes before I bought this Blu-Ray. The bonus features are really good, also. I really enjoyed seeing Sarek as a guest star on some of the episodes. The only problem I had is this series is supposed to take place before Star Trek: The Original Series and some of the technology seems to be too up to date compared to TOS. I think I will be buying season two.

Very pleased with this series. Highly entertaining, with great character development, plot twists and tie-ins to the original Star Trek episodes. Interesting to see how technology is more advanced than in the original shows despite this being a prequel, but hey, 50+ years have elapsed in the real world, so no surprise! :)

If you don't think CBS All Access is worth it just for Star Trek Discovery then you should buy the series to watch at your convenience. It has all 17 episodes of season one. The first few episodes introduce the main story elements. Then after that it is light speed into the show, as it gets more interesting as the show goes on. A fun show for Trekkies.

The first series from CBS. The writing is very good. The only thing I dislike of it is they made the Klingons bald and blue. They look stupid.

After seeing the pilot episode (usually the worst episode of a television series), I tried to devise a way to watch the entire series. I failed, so I waited for the blu-ray release, and bought the entire season despite never seeing any of the other episodes. I wasn’t disappointed, as the story and characters developed nicely, and the effects are top-notch.

The airing of this series on CBS All Access failed to lure me to streaming TV, but I am a Trekkie; and I'm very happy with season 1 on Blu-ray. The production is excellent. Although made for TV, each episode is movie quality. This prequel to the original series, although not entirely Star Trek "canon", is a worthy addition to the collection.

For those of us who love the genre this series helps fill in the gaps for those of us who miss seeing the Star Trek universe the cast and characters don't fail to deliver on good stories pick it up today

Rebooting Star Trek with a series set in the original universe would appear to be a no-win situation, but the producers of Star Trek Discovery appeared to have succeeded. As the DVD of season one reveals, there are a few mis-steps here and there, but overall, there are a lot more hits and misses. Having shaken down their maiden voyage, it will be interesting to see what they've got in store for season two.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed Season One on TV . So much so that I wanted to buy the Blu-ray version so I could binge watch it to the end . The graphics & storyline are amazing . . . but you have to see it to believe it . Love it . Live Long & Prosper .

This is Star Trek with familiar references. I have to say the Klingon appearance is drastically altered in this version. I personally do not like the look of the new Klingons. All other series had similar looking Klingons, even Enterprise. It is Star Trek otherwise it is great.

Good story telling for the most part. Prequels are always tough due to increased expectations and each star trek series has also needed a season or so to really get on it's feet. The redesign of the klingons is an esthetic choice I don't really enjoy but it's not enough to disregard the series as a whole.
