Star Trek Resurgence feels like a real Trek story. It's way more faithful to the franchise than anything I've played recently. You play as two crew members on a diplomatic mission that goes sideways. The story ties into The Next Generation and even has Spock and Riker! Your choices matter and shape the outcome. The devs are ex-Telltale folks, so they know their stuff when it comes to narrative games. If you're a Star Trek fan, this is a must-play. It captures the excitement and wonder of the universe perfectly.

I was disappointed with this narrative-focused game. I went in knowing exactly the type of game I was getting myself into, but even so I found the presentation to be subpar, and the "gameplay" elements that were sprinkled into the decision-based narrative clunky and boring. Having to twist my analogue stick to turn a lever when there's no risk of failure is absurd. The premise was interesting from a Trek fan's point of view, but the characters and performances were flat and the player model's were so basic as to inhibit any sense of immersion in the story or universe. Only for the most hardcore Star Trek enthusiast, and even then.... only maybe.
