Customers are saying

Customers find value in the stunning graphics, engaging campaign mode, and immersive Star Wars experience that Battlefront II offers. They appreciate the improvements made since the previous installment and enjoy the action-packed multiplayer mode. However, some express concerns about the presence of loot boxes, microtransactions, and a pay-to-win upgrade system, which they feel detract from the overall gaming experience.

A big improvement over the last one, reminds me of the old one. Graphics again are great but the game play is smoother

I think they did a great job on the campaign mode that is my favorite feature I personally don't care much for the multiplayer because they have so much stuff that it's actually confusing on how to stack and do everything however my son plays the multiplayer all the time and seems to love it so I guess if you can figure it out it's pretty fun LOL.

Way better then the first, mainly because there is a story-line for you to play. Don't get me wrong I liked the first one ,but was kind of saddened that they only did the PVP and there was nothing of a story line to play. Plus they hyped at the Star Wars Convention about what was supposed to be part of the game. I will say at first was a little disappointed the story line only allows you to play as Empire, but later on you get to play the other parts as well.

Campaign: The campaign was pathetic. The story was fan-servicing, unoriginal & predictable. I had high hopes for the story obviously because it's Star Wars and a lot of stuff Disney has put out for Star Wars has been pretty good. This was garbage. It took me 6 hours to get through, it looked fantastic, the sound effects were great, the voice acting was mediocre, but the actually story was pathetic. Without any spoilers, it’s a typical rebellion story of how the empire is 'oh so bad' and rebels are 'oh so good', surrounded by un-likeable characters. It seriously felt like a 6 hour tutorial. Such a disappointment. Multiplayer: First off, there's no private matches. The first thing I wanted to do when I bought this was to do a 1v1 with my buddy who lives in a different state to test out all the heroes. You can't do that. There's only 'split-screen' or regular online multiplayer. The actual gameplay is actually pretty fun. There's minor bugs that can easily be overlooked if the game was fine otherwise. This is not the case. Your progression is based around a gambling source. These "loot crates" that cost anywhere between 1,200 - 1,400 in-game credits give you mediocre items (You earn 200-300 credits every 20 minute match). Someone did the math on Reddit, it would take a player over 4,500 hours to unlock everything, UNLESS you shelled out $2,100 to unlock everything on day 1. Sure they removed the ability to buy the crates with actual money (temporarily), but now if you want to progress, don’t expect to unlock everything in even your first few years of playing the game. You’ll still be beaten by some whale that’s played over 500 hours because he has great ‘star cards’ that effect his passive stats and abilities while you have nothing. Second, you either have to choose to unlock heroes or buy these loot crates. To buy Luke or Vader, it’s 15,000 credits. Palpatine, Leia & Chewbacca cost 10,000 credits. Iden Versio (The un-likeable female character from the campaign) costs 5,000 credits. I’ve been playing almost non stop for 4 days and have only unlocked 3 heroes. You should be able to play all of these heroes day 1, they’re iconic Star Wars characters and the paywall is there to only entice players more to buy these stupid loot crates. I feel bad for the development teams that were only in charge of the gameplay, sounds, and game mechanics. Everything in that department is great, except for some easily overlooked bugs or balancing issues (Boba Fett’s weapons a little too strong & Palpatine is fairly weak). It’s a fun game, but it’s riddled with disgusting greedy marketing practices that makes any gamer cringe. If I could return this game, honestly I would. EA does not deserve people paying $60 for this game at all. They're going to bring back the micro-transactions. If you really want to make a statement about greedy business practices, don't buy this game. I wish I hadn't.

As someone who avoids playing multiplayer games, I pre-ordered this game just for the single player campaign. It's been some time since there's been an excellent story-based Star Wars game. Any ways having started the campaign, the game has the wonderful look and feel of the Star Wars universe. After playing through the campaign however, I was left with an overall generic feeling. Combat is dull, and the story is hackneyed. It feels as if Dice/Criterion simply slapped a "Star Wars skin" on Battlefield 4. Still given the dearth of Star Wars story games, I wasn't complaining after playing this. With that all said, I don't have any intention of wasting my time on the multiplayer, especially given the heat EA and Disney are receiving now from consumers with regards to the microtransactions. That's another topic, but on the whole, this has probably been my most favorite Star Wars story since Knights of the Old Republic was released.

I bought and played the first Battlefront as well as both of the original ones. It was an enjoyable game but certainly had flaws, the biggest of which was no campaign mode. This one has that and is quite enjoyable to play. The campaign mode is also considered Canon, which is a huge bonus. Contrary to what some have claimed, it in fact did not take all that long to unlock characters, etc. This game is highly recommended for Star Wars fans.

Graphics are a definite improvement over the previous game, but intermittent lag issues have made it hard to enjoy the game fully. I mainly play the pvp game and actually preferred the power ups in the field over the card system. Also wanted a VR component like in the first game that isn’t included. Maybe it can be offered later.

We have been playing the original Battlefront on PS4 since last year. Just bought the new version and the graphics are far improved. Motion is more realistic and the new stories have brought new dimensions to the game. The interesting thing is how the game stories overlap the new movies and provide information that is missing from the movies. The game is now an extension, not just a game inspired by the movie franchise.

This game is fun to play and builds on top of the first battlefront. I read about all the micro transactions but honestly if you just play the game you don’t even notice those things half the time. I have a blast playing this game especially when you got those battlefield moments with those intense team firefights.

The gameplay itself is pretty fun. I don't plan on buying any lootbox stuff with real money, but whatever. I'll just play regularly and not fret over the stuff. The graphics are fantastic and the gameplay as it is isn't bad though I die quite a bit in multiplayer because online shooters isn't my forte.

This is a good game. Don’t pay attention to the negative reviews about the “pay to win” problems they had in the first few days of launch. If you love Star Wars, this game is a must. Graphically it blows SWBF1 out of the water. I enjoy the grind it takes to unlock things, it keeps the game interesting.

Graphics are great, I like the variety of maps, and I lIke the new campaign mode even though the story is predictable. Flight controls suck, I miss the random tokens for weapons in the map, and also miss the stats page from the original game.
