Got this while I was walking around the store, thinking i could use a new mouse since my old one was starting to act up. I had an old MMO style mouse with the buttons on the side, some of which I actually used for different abilities or for in game push-to-talk communication. So, when I was looking for a new mouse, I wanted to have buttons on the side for a few things, but not so many that there was a grid of stuff to push. This mouse is smart. There are over 10 buttons on it, but they're placed all around. There are 8 on the side, above and below where your thumb naturally rests. The rest are on the top, around the edges of the mouse, easily pressed by your index of middle finger. The software that goes with the mouse has settings to have macros connected to the keys and it's easy to work with.

I had been using my G502 for around 6 months. I thought that once I got used to the narrow mouse my hands would stop hurting. It only got worse. The Rival 500 have been a HUGE relief for me. Definitively would recommend to fellas with big hands like me. Also, the amount of buttons on the mouse is a great plus for gamers like me. My only complaint is the lack of a braided cable and that the materials used tend to get dirty/oily real quick. It may just be my luck that I haven't found the need to clean the mouse all that often.

This is my first SteelSeries product. Bought it based on design and friend recommendations. Left and right click feel substantially more tactile. More like a cherry mx switch than a light mouse click. The software is an improvement over that of my Razer software. Easier to use and setting up different profiles for different programs is more intuitive. Only reason I gave 4 stars is although its heavier than most mice, I wish there was a way to make it heavier like the other mice with various weights. Will definitely be giving other SteelSeries products a chance.

This mouse will do everything and more. With 15 buttons to customize, DPI settings all the way up to 16000, acceleration and deceleration, and many other options through the steel series engine you can make this mouse exactly what you want.

Pros: Wonderful shape, really the most comfortable mouse I've ever held. Feels nice for claw and palm grabs, finger position is comfortable and natural no matter where I rest them (middle finger on wheel and ring finger on LMB, middle finger on LMB and ring finger on the extra button, ETC.). The side button positioning is really really excellent. I'm coming form a Razer Naga and while having more buttons is nice I never found myself relying on the back ones as they were just a pain to hit quickly, on the Rival 500 I can quickly press any of the side buttons quite easily. The middle thumb rest also makes it MUCH better for moving and repositioning the mouse. For anything except an MMO this mouse is superior IMO. It has nice weight to it and feels quite solid. Cons: No braided cable. Really... why not? I'd gladly pay more for this. Makes an otherwise excellent product seem cheap. The plastic cable rubs against my mat and makes an awful noise + dragging/snagging feeling when using the mouse and it's already starting to flatten out/rub through in that spot.

The mouse has great build quality, and the click for this mouse is very unique and nice. Its not to loud, my roommates cant really tell which is great. I really like my buttons when it comes to mice, I moved from a G700s, however the buttons were too sensitive, and I kept on miss clicking the side buttons every time I picked up the mouse. The button placements are very intuitive, however this is even better if you have long thumbs, (which I do). This not meant for people who have short fingers. The two bottom buttons are great, and responsive and have never misclicked them when I was in an intense mode. My most favorite feature is the tactile feedback, and it has a huge amount of versatility. I use it for MMO's and games like Overwatch, where managing your cooldowns is important. Furthermore, you can have different types of tactile feedback so you can use it for different buttons and different functions. RGB is nice and subtle, nothing too much. Software is also great, can auto-detect what games you are playing so you don't have to manually switch profiles, however for some reason it does not detect origin games, hopefully this is fixed in a later patch.

Although your hand size may affect if all the buttons will be easy to use or not, to me with 6" tall it is a good comfortable mouse. If you come from other MMO mouses you might want to give yourself a week or two to get used to it, and then it is fantastic. One of the things I like the most is are the extra buttons by left and right click. Another good thing is that there is no question which button you're pressing as each is unique in the movement you need to do. Software is also great and allows for full customization, including macros. Only downside I would mention is that the one button right behind the thumb rest may not be so easy to "click", but that is it. Overall great product. We got one for my wife, then a week later I got one for myself. Definitely recommended.

I bought this to replace a Naga trinity. The steel series software runs on OS X Catalina and I was able to map my buttons for different games. I do like the layout of the extra buttons. I wish they were back lit So I could see them while the mouse was in use. Easier to learn. It’s a wider mouse and really fits my hand well. The only bad thing I saw was the cable. It’s stuff rubber and has taken almost a month to finally loosen up. May take another month to finally be come flexible enough to just lay flat.

For people with shorter thumbs, you may not be able to easily hit button 6 (the front down thumb button), but it is reachable. It only has two DPI settings. Overall, it is comfortable, but wider the most mice. I came from using a G700 Logitech for 5 years, and this was equal or a better upgrade. The button next to the right mouse button (13) has many potential uses in games. I found it better than the three compact buttons on the left mouse button of the G700. I have used this mouse in FPS and RPGs and it is a comfortable mouse that is fit for any type of gaming.

This mouse's sensor is immaculate. Ergonomics are unmatched. I moved over from a Logitech G503 Wired and this is by far superior. The buttons are all placed in places I don't accidentally hit them, this mouse is larger than it looks in the images and fills your hand quite nice. I felt like I had to clutch the G503 uncomfortably, whereas this mouse is more of a resting palm position. Super comfortable! Also, it VIBRATES! Has lots of functions I haven't dug into yet, I namely use for shooters and the vibe adds a little realism.

This is a great mouse, in both function as well as program-ability. It is a little bigger than standard, but could even deal with it being a little larger. With a multitude of buttons to programs, as well as software that comes with it, this is a great piece. Not much RGB (just the logo and wheel) but it does have some effects and customization you can apply. Nice start to the gaming world.

This one replaced my Chroma mouse, only because I disliked their thumb-button-grid design, just too many hand cramps for me. Right handed, Palm, Claw, and Fingertip style. Programmable 15 buttons - including the tilt-able scroll wheel too. Weight: 129 Grams Cord: Braided - 6.5' length (2m) CPI: 100 - 16,000 Tracking: 1:1 Accuracy

This thing has been going strong. It fits really well in the hands and the buttons are easy to reach. The onku problem I have with it is that textured grip on the sides can build up grime so I have to cleab it from time to time but thats not enough to knock a star.

This is an excellent mouse with the best driver software I have seen. Awesome quality and tracking. I have somewhat small hands and unfortunately this mouse is a little too wide for me. The button layout it very cool, but not ideal for FPS games.

This has been a great addition to my set up. the build quality is great. I'm sure this will last a long time. I'm able to map a lot of keystrokes on the mouse, so while I'm playing the game I can use majority of my keys on the mouse which is very convenient. You will be able to customize it to your liking. The software that you use with it is very easy to use and set up your mouse. You can make multiple profiles, so when you're not playing the game when you click your mouse its not pressing a random keystroke. All in all, this is a good mouse which will get a lot of use from me, I just hope its durable, I've only been using it for a month.
