As a fan of Styx: Master of Shadows; I was excited for this game, and was not disappointed! Much like the original; Shards of Darkness is a Stealth/Action game which asks you to move through the shadows, and remain unseen. Styx has no melee; so sneaking is his best defense, as his parries aren't very good at first. Sneak attacks, poisons or dropping objects on enemies is best; and will not draw attention to you, plus hiding bodies is also suggested. You get bigger bonuses for full stealth/no kills runs; of course, but where's the fun in that? The game play mechanics are similar to the original; with a few added changes for easier use. I had a great time playing this game; with my only drawbacks is the Rope Mechanics and the play time. I felt it a bit too short from the original game; which seemed to go on forever, which is not a bad things. I loved the length of the original; I spend more time there lost because I couldn't figure out where to go. This game was a bit more straight forward; even which it's near open world, it still felt smaller. Styx's humor was right on point; if not more so, with all the Pop Culture references in it. The game has me laughing out loud many time. All-in-all; I still really enjoyed this game, and would recommend it to anyone who loves great humor, stealth/action, beautiful set pieces, great voice acting and a fun story. Can't wait to see what Styx has up his sleeve for his next game!

Meant for stealth fans. No visual cues for climbable terrain so be careful. Many ways to kill people. Graphics are pretty good and frame rate is smooth. Styx is an awesome character breaking the 4th wall. When faced with head to head combat, not much of an option to fight, so -1 star.

This is a great sequel to a great, true, classic stealth game. While not everything is better this time around, most of the issues from the first game were fixed/tweaked: much better ledge detection, manually precise ledge grabs upon falling, more consistent frame-rate, less back-tracking, non-existent flashy white graphical lines, non-existent forced combat via encounters, and more. This is a must buy for any stealth fan and/or fan of the first Styx game - Styx: Master of Shadows.

If you enjoy the Thief like gameplay you'll enjoy this little short gem. The game was done by a small studio but it looks great and plays very reminiscence of the Thief series. If you enjoy stealth games you'll like this little gem as well.

Pretty cool to play as a goblin assassin. I hear this version is better then the 1st game.

I was a little iffy about the second entry to the standalone Styx games, after having a hard time getting into the first one. Once I became acclimated with the gameplay, I was very happy with it SoD. The dialogue is a riot.

This game is great for stealth action but can be hard to commit too or be connected to character.

I enjoyed the first one and so far this one is even better!

Styx is the second game starring the little orc, and the third game overall in the franchise. This returns Styx to the world of sneaking around, kind of like the game Thief, but with more magic and humor.

Pretty cool storyline to follow as you play as a goblin who sneaks and steals and kills his way through a decently rich environment. Hard to go wrong when you can get a game at this price. I found it fun and easy to play. Visuals are pretty nice as well.
