I have always been a big fan of Tom Hanks, so one could justifiably argue that my views are biased. I was living in NY when the “Miracle on The Hudson” occurred. I was immediately enamored with the story and hoped there would be a movie about Chesley Sullenberger. They couldn’t have picked a better actor for the role. If you like the movies “Captain Phillips” and “Bridge of Spies”, you will definitely enjoy this movie.

This account of Sully's "miracle on the Hudson" pleasantly surprised me with its originality and authenticity. The film is one of the best I've seen directed by Clint Eastwood. SULLY tells the story of a heroic feat with a happy ending at a time when New York especially needed it. Sully's reactions to the media attention and NTSB investigation are portrayed believably by Tom Hanks. No melodrama or cliches, just a solid account of the event and its aftermath. You'll want to watch SULLY again and again.

This film, and the behind the scene extras included, provide the background for this pilot and crew's water landing as well as the details of the ensuing investigation. To those of us who experienced this feat from a distance, Clint Eastwood's movie gives us a clearer picture into the events of that winter day. The result is a higher level of admiration for the captain, co-pilot, and flight attendants. Their years of experience--and the actions of the New Yorkers who responded to the water landing--were the difference to every soul on that flight.

Probably one of the most famous aviation ditching of US airways flight 1549 to be put on film. Tom Hanks gives a great performance as Captain Sullenberger. He's the man who saved the lives of 155 people on a plane that has a bird strike which damages both engines after takeoff from New York's LaGuardia Airport and ends up in the Hudson River. It was the Miracle on the Hudson which had a positive effect since it happened during a time when airline travel in New York had a bad experience, 9/11 2001. Now you can experience the story in its entirety.

This film was, in my opinion, Tom Hanks' best work since "Captain Phillips." Even though I knew about the events of this film prior to walking into the theater, I did not expect it to go into such great detail in such a short amount of time, considering the fact that "Sully" is just a little over an hour and a half. In summary, I enjoyed this film enough to add it to my Blu-Ray collection. If you haven't seen this film already, do yourself a favor and pick it up on DVD or Blu-Ray....or rent it if you can. "Sully" does not disappoint!

I'm not sure why I never went to see this on the big screen in a theatre, but after I watched it later I knew I'd want to own a copy. The presentation of a real event that could have gone OH SO tragically wrong is fun to watch and cheer along with the real heros of that experience. Expertly directed and acted. Those filnal lines of dialogue get you to laugh, and finish the viewing with a positive final impression. Very easy to recommend this movie to others. . . and I'm so thankful to have snagged it at a great price.

This is a review of the product - not the film. I am very impressed with the quality of the disc. I've viewed both the standard blu-ray and the 4K UHD disc, and the difference between the two is very minimal. Even though the UHD disc was sourced from a 4K digital intermediate, it only has the edge over this by a hair. This wouldn't convince anyone to upgrade to 4K. The Dolby Atmos track is fantastic.

I live in NYC, I remember when this miracle on the Hudson happened. If it were not for master pilot Mr. Sullenberg many in NYC would have died including crew and passengers. I saw this movie in the theater and it is pretty dang good and I highly recommend it. We all had no clue hero SULLY was going through this garbage they put him through. SULLY is the MAN!! Check this movie out, it requires that you listen so tell the talkers around you to be quiet. :-) Enjoy and thank you SULLY!!!

Really good movie about Capt. Sully and 1st officer dealt with in the aftermath. From Capt Sully's POV, get to see his experience not only with PTSD & instant fame but the NTSB second guessing his actions during the investigation. I live in NYC & remember when the news broke. First was a feeling of dread. When we learned everyone survived with only a few minor injuries, we all felt uplifted with renewed hope in humanity & that we would make it through the hard times during the recession.

I sat in my chair and actually watched Tom Hanks become Sully, heart and soul. I always like his portrayals, but this was above and beyond.. I hope the Academy rewards him for a job so very well done. I had no idea of the turmoil that this Pilot had to endure, I can't believe that those people actually wanted him to be at fault, he is a hero in so many more ways than just saving his crew and passengers, he is a true caring and compassionate individual and certainly not a glory seeker.

I was impressed when I first heard about the miraculous feat Sully Sullenberger and his crew performed that saved the lives of the people on the ill-fated plane flight that they landed in the Hudson River. I enjoyed the re-enactment in the movie that went deeper into the actual events. I cannot imagine being in a situation like that. Since I am fond of Tom Hanks, it was especially enjoyable to see his portrayal of Captain Sullenberger. A film well worth watching and learning from!

For anyone who experienced the event watching television news or didn't have that perspective, this tells the story of what happened during - but more importantly - after Captain Sullenberger landed a commercial airliner on the Hudson River. A powerful film and one that captures the emotion and turmoil surrounding the successful and professional handling of an emergency landing. Great fllm and another powerful and incredible performance by Tom Hanks. A must see for anyone.

Best part of the whole movie is when they talk about "The Human Factor." I'd go as far as saying understanding this principal will help you in all your daily interactions and especially at work if you have any kind of job where you are forced to make split second decisions, going with your gut when you're scared sh!tless and trusting yourself.

According to the Special Features section of this movie, Capt. Sully himself declared the original script was not the real story. SULLY the movie isn't all about the miracle in the Hudson. It's about the Federal investigation that came after the fact and it was neither pretty or easy. Tom Hanks does an excellent job of portraying Capt. Sully and the movie is well worth rent or purchase. I bought it because I wanted to view it and show it several times. It's worth it.

This movie provides a close-up look at a recent event and American hero that saved hundreds of lives and millions of dollars in damage by landing a large passenger airplane in the Hudson River in New York after dual engine failures occurred at high altitude. No computer could have made the judgement call nor the maneuvers that Captain Sully made on a moments notice to save every soul on board his plane! A magnificent and uplifting true story everybody should see!

I'd known much of the story behind the film from news accounts, but I learned a few things from the movie that I didn't know completely beforehand. Specifically, I knew the simulations exonerated Sully, but not that the first sims weren't totally accurate and thus not originally exonerating. On the BluRay disc, there are 3 Bonus Features totaling about an hour. These add a lot of additional good information about the film and the original incident.

It was amazing and heroic for the pilot to land the plane on the water without any fatalities! It was equally amazing the way they tried to make this miracle about pilot error and arrogance. Insurance companies are more concerned about NOT having to pay out money than they are the truth. They didn't care about this man's life, family, career, reputation, or good name. They just didn't want to possibly pay for any lawsuits by being deceptive.

A great story of the flight that landed on the Hudson with all souls aboard rescued and saved by the quick action and expertise of a master pilot. The behind the basic story reveal shows what Capt. Sully had to go through to keep his ability as a pilot and his name from being tarnished by the money grabbing people who didn't like having to pay for the lost plane. Of special note is the final testing that proved he was in the right. Great story!!

Lately Clint Eastwood has brought various real life experiences to the screen (Chris Kyle's life, Paris bound failed terrorist threat)...finally the after story of US Airways 1549 miracle, centering on investigation into procedure undertaken by the pilots...based on book Highest Duty by Chesley Sullenberger....must see with Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney.
