Solid tri-pod, just wish adjusting it was a bit smoother.

Lightweight and easy to set up, this tripod is perfect for everyday photos and videos. It extends tall enough and holds my camera steady for most shots. It can wobble a bit if fully extended or in windy conditions, but for the price it’s a solid, reliable choice.

I just wanted a simple, inexpensive tripod to use when taking photos and making videos of my little one's cello concerts. The legs extend to the perfect height (and would even extend farther, if needed), it's stable and relatively lightweight. I don't plan on lugging it through Disney World or anything like that so even though it would be nice if it was lighter, this inexpensive tripod meets all of our needs.

Pretty standard tripod. Though my camera is heavy there are some mechanisms on the tripod that struggle to keep a level shot. With adjusting I haven’t had it fail to be perfect. The tripod is good, it’s just obvious that it’s more for the generation using phones (which there is an adapter for) than a big bulky DSLR. Though it is capable of using. For the price, it’s worth it.

This is the second tripod like this I've bought. They are lightweight, but sturdy enough for my largest cameral
They're tall enough and easily adjustable.

Terrible quality pass on this tripod

I've bought and used cheap Dynex(another Best Buy brand) tripods from Best Buy before and they have been fine for the amount paid. I actually even have them still 7 years later. I decided to get this Platinum Plus one to take backpacking because it was so lightweight. I've used it a couple of times and it is not even worth the amount I paid for it. It is terrible quality and the legs bow when fully extended. i would never be able to step away from my camera because the slightest wind would probably knock it over. Spend a little more and get the Manfrotto tripod or any other tripod. It's worth spending a little more to make sure you have a reliable tripod, even if it is just for occasional use.

This tripod is pretty decent for the price. It works for me because I use it for my cell phone. I would recommend it for cell phone but I am not that much confident about using it for my DSLR.

Would not have looked at this tripod if it wasn't in the bundle we got when we bought our camera but this thing is awesome! It is very lite, compact, but then extends out to a great height and is sturdy.

This tripod is seriously AWESOME for the price. I never realized how flimsy my old one was until I used this one. It held my Canon T6 with a 50mm on it with no issues whatsoever, and I was able to angle the camera anyway I wanted and it would hold so firmly. Would buy again no doubt!!

It seems to be a nice, lightweight tripod. I purchased because I needed something to hold 6 pounds and wanted the pan and tilt head) (DSLR Camera and longer lens) once it took it out and looked at it I would not trust my equipment to this even though it is rated for 8 pounds. I would however use it for a phone or GoPro. Not sure if it is missing part of the GoPro adapter or not. All in all for the price, it is a good little tripod.

This tripod is really a great little tripod... light weight, easy to set up and is really sturdy. I have had other tripods and paid many times more for them and this Subpak shines above most of those. The real WOW was the price I paid.
Keep up the good work Best Buy!!!!!

Simple to use and fully adjustable tripod. has been working very well for me in studio and on the hiking trail, built-in level makes sure I get it straight. Legs can be individually lengthened, but spreading them out must be all together. This is no problem for the most part, but it mounts best on my travel backpack with two legs spread just a little, which makes the third leg stick straight out.
Finally, the mount assembly is sturdy, but only if everything is tightened down, which adds time to simple adjustments. For example, the vertical telescoping function is way too choppy and wobbly to do while shooting video, you have to set the height, tighten it up, then shoot. This is not detrimental to me, but something to be aware of.

As an owner of a Sunpak 5800D, I read reviews of the 5858D and saw Best Buy's amazing $14/each deal for them. I grabbed 4, and I'm happy I did! Easy to use and good build quality.
The reason it's not a 5-star is because I expected this to be at least as solid as the 5800D, being both from the same "series"/line and a higher number, but I found the 5800D to be substantially more solid. Both are sturdy for most podcast/prosumer applications, so I still recommend it - but that was disappointing.
5800Ds go for about $10-$20 used (minus shipping), so if you see a deal for the 5858D that beats that, take it. I did, and I'm happy with my purchase.

This is a great tripod for still shots. It set up easily and is lightweight. However, it has some serious drawbacks for shotting video. Like similar tripods, there are no bearings in the moving parts of the head. It is designed to move the camera to the desired setup and then lock that setup in place. If you want to pan, the lack of bearing results in jerky movement, even when the locking screws are backed all the way out.
The price cannot be beaten, but you get what you pay for. If you are taking still shots, what you get is enough, but for video, I am still looking.

This is a great tripod! It is SUPER light but really sturdy and it is very easy to use. It even has a leveler for guaranteeing a level shot. The extendable legs are rubber-bottomed and set up is quick and simple. Make sure you retrieve the small, bagged additional parts at the bottom of the box!
