I don't know if tripod prices have gone up in the last few years, but this is a big step up from the $30 tripods. My son got a $30 tripod and it was broken in a week. This is nice and sturdy, yet not to bulky or heavy. It hasn't broken yet!

Great tool for recording live musical, indoor and outdoor musical performances. Great use for my smartphone, Apple devices, DSLR camera as well as HD camcorder. This is my second Tripod. The first lasted me 5 years from normal wear and tear.

It is very flimsy. To be fair, maybe my camera was too heavy and snapped the piece that helps it spin. Either way, it's still usable, just not the best quality. It gets 4 stars because it was a decent price on sale.

This is the second Sunpack tripod I've bought from BestBuy. The first is a 7500TM purchased over ten years ago. The differences between the two are like night and day: the 7500 is sturdy with a lot of thick aluminum; the 5858 is really light, not sturdy and mostly plastic.
I had to exchange two of the 5858's until I found one that had legs that easily extended full out.
With all that said, the less than 20 dollar price and the 5858's ultimate ability to handle a lightweight camera or sound device in no wind or indoor settings, makes for an average rating.
What I would really like is another Sunpak 7500TM.
