It's Mario, in a 3D world. The title says it all.

Tons of fun with or without friends. It's basically just a traditional 2D Mario game but in 3D. The levels feel like they are designed the same way and just converted into 8 directions rather than 4. 4 different characters each with their own abilities. Mario is the jack of all trades down the middle. Luigi jumps higher but is a little unwieldy to control sometimes. Peach can float. Toad is speedy but can't jump as well. The inspiration for their abilities of course comes from Mario 2 but they are not exactly the same (especially Toad). Lots of replayability because you need to finish courses with each character to get credit to 100% the game. Bowser's Fury mode is fun solo or co-op, but be aware it does have a sort of time limit in that Bowser gets tougher as time goes on. Eventually you will HAVE to deal with him and retry later for more pickups. If you're a fan of Mario, then you're sure to enjoy this.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a Nintendo Switch port of the Wii U version from 2013, and judging from my 10 hours with the game, the visuals, audio, controls, and the additional content make this another resonating Mario experience. The visuals look crisp and vibrant--both on the tabletop and docked version. The soundtrack is catchy with a jazz-esque tune across most of the tracks, and it coincides appropriately with the characters, levels, and action. The controls are easy to understand, and with the Nintendo Switch system, there are multiple ways for players to play. There are fun power-ups like Double Cherry and Cat Suit, which can duplicate the playable characters or access abilities like climbing obstacles or pouncing enemies, and the gameplay itself is fluid and bouncy enough to feel like interacting with a high-quality animated movie. Multiplayer features further enhances the game's playability as it allows up to three more players to play simultaneously; players can play as iconic characters, such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad, as well as Rosalina, who is unlockable. Being able to play this game on-the-go thanks to the Nintendo Switch is also a great detail; this would be a great game for family vacations or visiting family or a friends house. Multiplayer is also included in the Treasure Tracker Toad levels, which is a neat detail. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a creative, colorful, and endearing video game with simple controls, bouncy gameplay, a catchy soundtrack, and interactive multiplayer system, and this game has a high playability that can last for years. While I am aware of the online multiplayer and Bowser's Fury additional content components, I have not yet reviewed them.

Although it doesn’t hit the highs of Super Mario Odyssey, this game is still amazing. The underplayed and underappreciated Super Mario 3D World is a blast, and the additional separate “game within a game” Bowser’s Fury is something brand new and exciting for 3D Mario games. It offers a glimpse of the open world concept that the series may take going forward, and it’s a ton of fun.

Fun game for family multiplayer. I initially got New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe to play with my 3 children, but the 2D platforming was too chaotic and hard with 4 people. This is still chaotic, but the level design means that people aren’t constantly dying. Bowser’s Fury is also a lot of fun for a more “traditional” 3D Mario game.

Super Mario 3D World is a fantastic Mario game. The level design is awesome and very creative with a lot of secrets and paths to discover. Definitely a game every Switch owner should have. In addition to everything the game had before like the Captain Toad levels, the game has a separate mode called Bowser's Fury that's more like the open world sandbox levels from Odyssey and Sunshine. There's plenty of Mario goodness in this package.

The first time I played it I stoped after completing worlds 1-5. I played the first world with a friend and we spent most of the time cracking up. It had a fun and challenging mix of levels and challenges. If this is your first run on 3D World, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. The Bowser addition was just as fun. I enjoyed the “open world” free roaming style. I’m sure this game would be lots of fun with 2+ players.

I almost gave this 4 stars as it’s really just a port of yet another Wii U title but Bowser’s Fury adds something new that deserves the extra star. Super Mario 3D Land is fun and the music is great. It runs better than the Wii U version (expectedly) and the characters all default to sprinting which I prefer. My only issue is the trouble I had early on with my depth perception leading to some deaths. Your characters shadow is pretty tiny and unless you’re laser focused on it to gauge where you’ll be landing during a jump expect to fall off the level. On to Bowser’s Fury. Oh my... okay so first things first I really hope we see a fully open world Mario game because this is pretty much the foundation of what could be. The graphics are amazing and the frame rate is fast while dropping here and there. It doesn’t detract from the overall experience but it is noticeable. The music is soooo good! Seriously I want to hug the composer because it fits the game like a glove. Despite being short and not really having any connection to Super Mario 3D Land, Bowser’s Fury is a fun addition to an already stellar game making this a wonderful package for Mario fans.

Great to play with your kids, up to 4 players. Heck, if you've got adult friends, it's still a blast (although some levels are best cleared alone). There are some REALLY clever designs here, but steer clear if you hate cats. The Cat powerup is very OP & it's like I was playing a game sponsored by Petco.

I completed this game on the Wii U. Coming back to it on the Switch with my young child was a treat. The platforming in this game is much trickier than other Mario platformers, so it can be tough for beginning gamers. It takes far too long to unlock Rosalina, and using the gyro controls in place of the Wii's touchscreen is a bit wonky and tough to adapt to.

My first time playing 3D World since I never had a Wii U, and I think it's a quality game with a lot of unique levels. After getting though the first world of that though, I wanted to get into Bowser's Fury. Very cool, and I can see its ideas (open world concept to the "levels," always present boss) being implemented in future games. My only issue with BF is that it doesn't take long to beat.

I love this game! It’s enjoyable in general, but what I like most is the nostalgia. Super Mario Bros. 3D World has its own unique story, yet gameplay is reminiscent of all the Super Mario games that came before it. The overworld maps and courses remind me of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. I can play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Toad and they each have their own unique speed and jumping attributes just as they did in Super Mario Bros. 2 (North America Version). All the characters can get the same power-ups like the super mushroom, super star, fire flower, and Tanooki suit (originally from SMB3), plus the new Super Bell (Cat Suit power), Goomba mask, Cannon Box, Light Box, and the Double Cherry. The timer and flagpole at the end of each course harks back to the classic side-scroller Mario games. There are side venues like the Toad house and a slot machine that give the player a chance to obtain power ups to store for later or get 1 Ups, even featuring the same music, from Super Mario Bros. 3. Mario can do back flips, long jumps, backwards somersaults in the air, and stomps; and climb and jump off trees just as he did starting in Super Mario 64. That’s before you even get to Bowser’s Fury, so buckle up! I highly recommend this game to any Mario fans, young an old. It’s a lot of fun.

Super Mario 3D world is a fun platforming adventure with beautiful level designs and fun couch co op gameplay. Bowsers fury is an open world game that allows you to explore many beautiful islands. The graphics are beautiful and the ability to just play and explore with no loading screens is a welcomed change. Me and my young ones enjoy this game very much :)

This is very overlooked Nintendo Wii U game, finally ported to Nintendo Switch. The Super Mario 3D World game is a good blend of the old 2d Mario Games - think Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World - as well as the new 3d titles. The 2nd part of the game, Bowsers Fury is an entirely new open world experience. Both games are fairly easy to play through and a lot of fun

Love playing this with my kid, and He enjoys playing solo as well (8). Note that with two players, teamwork and communication is nescessary to advance... so as long as neither player is a stinker about running ahead (forcing the left behind participant to go into a "bubble" to catch up and prevent them what they were doing in that level) then it should work well for you and your players. Younger kids may have a harder time with the 3d drops and maneuvering as levels progress, but- once they get down how to "bubble", usually the more advanced player can progress through the level for both of them and knock out tricker portions of a course. The Toadstool puzzle levels are great teamwork fun as well. Bright, happy, upbeat, and engaging... nice little brain vacay from reality :)

Entertaining game, especially with friends and family. Great to play on your own, but if you are a competitive player, the multi-player option is better. It's simple enough that younger players can complete it, however, it is fun for many ages.

Never played the original 3D World and this game is SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! I would describe it as a mix of the original Mario's in one. The levels are beautiful and playing with friends is so much fun. Realizing the improvements they made to this version makes it so much better. Have barely played Bowsers Fury but I hear it's a lot of fun, overall this is a must own.

If you haven't played 3D Mario World on Wii U, definitely pick this one up. Bowser's Fury is cool, but I couldn't personally justify spending $60 just for this. That said, I did spend $60 just for Bowser's Fury because my kid wanted it and I always cave when he asks for something like this!
