At least it was on the Nintendo 64. This version is still amazing and has bonus content but the lack of true analogue control really hurts it. Still a recommended pick up, but somewhat disappointing that it lacks that definitive touch.

Mario 64 is an all time great. The ds version is a cool update, though it falls maybe a hair short of the original

The game came in on-time, ordered online, it was just what it said it would be. The only problem I had with the purchase was it was sent to a store further away than I normally go to. At the end of the day my seven year old was happy...and did not care that it was a few miles further.

The DS port of the classic Nintendo 64 game adds a lot to try and draw in the player, the extra characters, the unlockable mini games, and the novelty of playing the game on a handheld.
Unfortunately, the translation form the Nintendo 64 to the Nintendo DS leaves a lot to be desired.
The main issue is how the game plays. The original game used a controller with an analog stick to move around the world. In the DS port, it uses d-pad and the stylus. The d-pad is only able to move in 4 directions, the analog stick can move in 8, making it able to handle more precise movement inputs. This is a necessary feature since precision in moving around is key to playing the game. The stylus controls try to resolve the problem of the DS lacking an analog stick, and less precise movement but ends up being making it harder to play. The game was not redesigned with this control scheme in mind.
This problem extends to the camera as well.
The simplicity of the original controller (and the Wii virtual console re-release) make more user friendly than the preferred control available here.

Super Mario 64 is a classic game and this DS remake is even better. With new challenges, minigames, and characters this game will excite any fan of 3D platformer games.

Being pre-owned saved a few bucks and the game works great. The kids find each level a challenge and really enjoy the game.

Must have if you love Mario Games. This was a classic on the N64 and can play portable on DS.
